Coffee and Cake - St John Fisher We warmly invite you to join us in the hall after Mass today to support the work of CAFOD. We will be serving home-made cakes, sausage rolls and coffee to raise funds for the parish CAFOD project. Masses and Services for this Week There are some changes to Masses and Services this coming week please see the table at the end of the newsletter for details. Bambinelli Sunday 14 th December Blessing of the Baby Jesus from our Cribs This year, we are going to follow a tradition where, on the Third Sunday of Advent, the Baby Jesus from every crib and nativity scene in homes throughout the parish is brought to church to be blessed. In doing so we will be joining with our Holy Father, Pope Francis, as he will again be blessing the Baby Jesus from thousands of cribs in Rome and beyond. So, next Sunday, please bring your crib s Baby Jesus to Mass for a Blessing which will take place at the end of Mass. Children s Nativity Closing date 14 th December The children s nativity play will form part of the Children s Mass at 7.30pm on Christmas Eve at St John Fisher. Application forms for children wanting to act in the nativity are available in the church porches. The rehearsal is on Sunday 21 st December at 3.00pm at St John Fisher. Prayer Resources for Advent Walk with Me A Journey of Prayer for Advent Copies of these booklets are available in the porches on a one per family basis. They are free of charge, but if you are able to make a donation of 50p to cover the cost to the Parish, please do so. "All the Generations" from Pray-as-You-Go Pray-as-You-Go, an initiative of the British Jesuits, offers a daily reflection, usually lasting about 12 minutes, to help you to pray with the one of the scripture readings chosen for the daily Mass. Pray-as- You-Go podcasts and other materials are available from their website ( or as an app for smartphones and tablets (ios and Android). For Advent they have produced a special series of reflections, entitled "All the Generations." Sacred Heart Church Big Christmas Clean This will take place on Monday 22 nd December from around 9.30am (straight after the Mass). Please come along to help if you possibly can many hands make light work!

3 St John Fisher Crib Volunteers Needed! Volunteers are needed to erect the crib after Mass on Sunday 21 st December. Please see Brian in the Sacristy if you can help. Children's Christmas Matinee 4.00pm Friday 19 th December in Sacred Heart Hall Sacred Heart Film Club welcomes all children (and adults) to watch "Arthur Christmas" (Cert U). Santa's clumsy grandson, Arthur has an urgent mission that must be completed before Christmas morning dawns. At last the secrets behind Santa's operation are revealed! The doors will open at 3.30pm: admission is free but tickets are required. Refreshments will be provided. Who knows: if the children are very good, Santa Claus may visit! Please pick up a form from the church porch to register for the course and request the Baptism. Primary School Applications Priest s References If you need Fr Tom to complete a Priest s Reference and have not already seen him about it, please give Fr Tom the completed self-assessment form (copies available in the Church porches) along with an original baptism certificate for your child as soon as possible. If you do not have the baptism certificate, you should ask the parish of baptism for a duplicate. Sacred Heart School Spaces in the Nursery Class Sacred Heart School currently has spaces in the Nursery Class (children born between 01/09/10 and 31/08/11). 4 Sacred Heart Coffee Morning in aid of HARP After the 11.00am Mass on Sunday 14 th December come along to a wonderful coffee morning with lots of super raffle prizes. All in aid of HARP - our local charity for homeless people.
