Your support will enable CAFOD to help the very poorest in our world and give them the opportunity and hope for a better future. FOSH Barbeque Bounce Summer Fayre This Friday! Join us from 3.15pm to 7.00pm for a great family afternoon at this year s Summer fundraising event. There will be lots of fun activities for children including inflatables, side stalls, BBQ food, ice-cream, drinks stalls and more! Wristbands costing 5 each will be available to buy on the day allowing unlimited use of all the inflatables on the day. Helpers needed, if you re great at cooking on a barbecue or could spare an hour to help run a stall. Please contact Michelle Truter-Banks Fr Lee s Departure Fr Lee s last weekend in the Parish will be 30 th -31 st July. Cover has been arranged for the weekend Masses (Saturday evening and Sunday morning) Masses during August. The expectation is that the new Parish Priest will be in place for the first weekend of September (3 rd and 4 th September). Next Sunday is Sea Sunday Next week is Sea Sunday, when the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea. There will be a second collection for Apostleship of the Sea, the official maritime welfare agency of the Catholic Church in Great Britain. It provides practical and spiritual support to seafarers visiting our ports. As it is wholly dependent on voluntary donations, please give

Strawberry Themed Coffee Morning at Sacred Heart Thank you to everyone who supported this Coffee Morning was raised for the Social Committee. If you wish to Gift Aid your donations, please take a Gift Aid Declaration Form from the porch. Once completed, please return the form to Fr Lee or the Sacred Heart Presbytery. If you go to hospital, make sure you tell the staff that you are Catholic and that you would like a priest to visit, otherwise the Chaplain has no way of knowing. 3 Fish and Chip Quiz in Aid of CAFOD Saturday 23 rd July at Sacred Heart Church Hall Doors open 6.30pm for 7.00pm start. Part of the Sacred Heart CAFOD Project to raise 4,500 to purchase a Medical Centre for an African village. We are very close to our goal and this will help take us a big stride towards our target per person if you wish to make team bookings (6 to 8 people) that's fine. If you have specific dietary requirements please inform us when booking. Coach Excursion to St James RC Church and Kensington Gardens Sunday 14 th August, leaving Sacred Heart Church at 8.00am and St John Fisher at 8.10am we travel to St. James Roman Catholic Church, Spanish Place, London, for 10.30am sung Mass. Then join the parishioners in their coffee morning pm re-boarding the coach we travel the short distance to Kensington Gardens. Picnic in the grounds or dine out the choice is yours. Adults 14; OAP 13; Children Free (13 places on a first come first served basis thereafter the cost of child places is 13). KSC Pilgrimage to Canterbury Cathedral Thursday 7 th July on the Feast of St. Thomas of Canterbury the only Catholic Mass of the year is held in Canterbury Cathedral. Several Knights will be travelling by car and have spaces for any parishioners wishing to join us. We will leave Sacred Heart Church at 2.30pm arriving in Canterbury at approximately 4.30pm. Time to sightsee and find some dinner before arriving at the Cathedral at 7.30pm in time for 8.00pm Mass. This is a marvellous occasion which is followed by wine and nibbles in the cloisters. Yes, it will be a late night but well worth it. A 5 donation to the driver will cover their petrol and Dartford Crossing fees. Sacred Heart Film Club Presents Suffragette (Cert. 12) Wednesday 6 th July at Sacred Heart Church Hall Doors open at 6.30pm for 7.00pm screening. A drama that tracks the story of the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement, women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State. These women were not primarily from the genteel educated classes, they were working women who had seen peaceful protest achieve nothing. Stars Carey Mulligan, Ann-Marie Duff and Helena Bonham-Carter. Usual refreshments available on the night. 4 St Bernard s High School Open Evening for Year 5s On Wednesday 6 th July from 6.00pm to 9.00pm, for girls (along with their parents/carers), who are interested in joining St Bernard s High School s Year 7 in September St Thomas More High School - Open Evening On Thursday, 7 th July from 6.00pm to 9.00pm. For families who have a son due to transfer to secondary school in September Come and see the school, meet the staff and pupils. The Headteacher s talk will begin at 7.00pm. Parents of boys wishing to apply for a place should complete the local education authority Common Application Form (CAF) and fill in the supplementary information form (SIF) that can be collected at the open evening or found at Come-And-Sing-Messiah Enthusiastic, amateur singers needed to Come-And-Sing-Messiah! Join the Brentwood Catholic Children's Society for an opportunity to perform Handel's masterpiece with professional soloists in the beautiful setting of Brentwood Cathedral. The specially formed choir will be conducted by Andrew Wright and rehearse for the first time in the afternoon, performing the complete Messiah to an audience in the evening. Date: December 3 rd at Brentwood Cathedral - Rehearsal: 2.00pm to 5.00pm - Performance: 7 pm. Cost is 12 to register to sing and 4 for score hire. During this time the Diocese will be going through a process of discernment, decision making and change management, as we seek to make best use of our resources to promote the spread of the Gospel. The Diocese s Stewards of the Gospel initiative has seen the appointment of a body of talented lay people who will work within every parish to develop and implement a plan for evangelisation. The Director of Parish Evangelisation, having considerable experience and expertise in evangelisation for the Catholic Church, will be responsible for the creation and promotion of a robust, de-centralised plan for evangelisation, tailored to the individual needs and opportunities in each parish of the Diocese (taking into account, where applicable, developing plans for changes to parish boundaries). Rosary - The Holy Rosary is said in Sacred Heart Church after all weekday masses and 6.30pm when there is an evening Mass. The Angelus is recited 5 minutes before Sunday (and Saturday 5.30pm) Masses.
