2 Many thanks to all who participated in my Mass of Induction as your Parish Priest last Thursday. It was a beautiful and prayerful occasion, and all 3 of our parish churches were very well represented. A special thanks to Marie and Rob for preparing the wonderful spread of food in the hall afterwards. May God bless our parish. May their souls through the mercy of God rest in peace ~ Dates for your Diary Saturday, 8 th December morning of Advent Prayer with lunch Sunday, 16 th December Parish Christmas Buffett The SVP would like to take gifts to those in need, sick and housebound for Christmas. During Advent we would appreciate donations (nonperishable food, toiletries, etc) placed in the basket at the rear of the Church and brought up with the offertory. Thank you. Come to our Morning of Advent Prayer on Saturday, 8 th December at St Cuthbert Mayne Church, Launceston from 10am 2.00pm. The morning will be led by Fr John and will include Mass, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Confessions. A video talk by Bishop Robert Barron in the hall and then lunch will be provided from 1pm-2pm See poster on noticeboards. BIBLE STUDY GROUP: the regular meetings with Deacon Richard, in the Charles Langdon Room, will continue on Thursday 29 th November and the first three Thursdays during Advent in December. The group will look at the Readings for Sunday Mass. You are very welcome to join us. The Church will be open every day during Advent for quiet prayer from 9am to 1pm. 3 KEEP ADVENT HOLY: 5 Suggestions 1. Read/Reflect you could use Advent Extra, a daily devotion book or an online resource, to feed your inner self. 2. Get some quiet time: there is half day of recollection at St Cuthbert Mayne Church/Hall on 8 th December. Details in newsletter. Or book in to Advent Retreat at Honiton or find some time of quiet prayer at home. These things need to be planned and booked in your diary, otherwise they probably won t happen. 3. Remove the things that hinder you from receiving Christ with joy. Plan a time to celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent. 4. Create an Advent Wreath for your home, and light another candle each week. Buy a Christian Advent calendar, and a Christmas Crib, if you haven t already got one. You are invited to bring your cribs to Mass on 4 th Sunday of Advent when they will be blessed. 5. Buy and send Religious Christmas cards with Christian stamps. Please find at the back of the church Advent Extra your journey to Christmas 24 daily reflections and prayers and many other articles including a pull-out centrefold for children. CAFOD Advent Share the Journey Campaign, supported by Pope Francis, runs until the end of This year the Share the Journey will take place at Plymouth Cathedral on Wednesday 5th December 2018 at 11am, followed by refreshments. St Rita s Centre, Honiton, Devon Advent of Recollection will be on Saturday 15 th December from 10.30am 4.30pm. The day will be led by Fr Barry Hallett, his theme is: Advent Readings. See poster on the noticeboard. Christians Together in Stratton and Bude are having a training day for Transforming Lives for Good at 7.30pm on 27 th November at Poughill Church Hall.
