May God Bless her and her family as they grow in His knowledge The 3rd Canvey Island Scout Group - Invite all MUMS to the Mother's Day Breakfast on Sunday 11th March at am in the Parish Hall. If you wish to attend please put your name on the list at the back of the church. This list will be removed on Tuesday 6th March. Sanctuary Lamp The Sanctuary lamp will burn for Our Lady of Canvey Deceased Parishioners when we have no names booked in. We have loads spaces please book for your friends & loved ones. Goodwill Club The Goodwill Club have now started in the Parish hall. They will be in there every Friday from 7-10pm & it is open to anyone who is interested. Entrance fee is 3 & they do different things each week which are bingo, sequence dancing & much more & they even do holidays & day trips out. They currently have around 40 people attending. Your first session to try it is completely FREE so come along & find out more! Offertory Collection The Offertory collection last week was of which was Gift Aided. Many thanks for your generous donations. The Jersey Guys Saturday - 19th May at Campion School. The UK s premiere tribute band to the hit West End musical "The Jersey Boys" and the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons are back at Campion for the 4th year!! 4 Salvation Army Community get together Brunch. Friday 23 rd March 10am-2pm at Salvation Army Hall, Mitchells Avenue, Canvey Island SS8 8JB. Have a full English breakfast or bacon butty with us & know that profits go to the Salvation Army food bank, a greatly used & much needed community resource. Easter Lillies If you would like an Easter Lilly for your loved one this Easter they are 2.50 per stem with a maximum of two names per stem. The envelopes will be at the back of the church in the Easter Lilly box. Names will then be displayed in an A3 frame on the altar. Parish Race Night Saturday 14 th April. Horses & Jockeys will be on sale after Mass. Horses 5 The winning horse receives 15 Jockeys 2.50 The winning Jockey receives All money raised will go towards Parish funds. SVP National Draw This weekend of 10/11 th March the SVP will be selling their national draw tickets. LOURDES The Southend Across Group has two spaces on the Jumbulance for any male pilgrim who, through illness or disability requires care and support. We leave for Lourdes on Thursday June 14th and return on Saturday June 23rd. For each place, we ask for a registration fee of 30 and a pledge to raise a minimum sponsorship of 200. If you have your own place in the race, we would love to have you on our team; we won t set a sponsorship target, but any funds you can raise for us would be hugely appreciated. For 12 hours, from 8am to 8pm, on Tuesday 27 th March, the Tuesday of Holy Week, Bishop Alan will be completely silent (except for occasional communication with his cat, Delia). This is part of a national initiative, Million Minutes, adopted this year by the BCYS, to encourage all of us to (re)discover the peace, tranquility and value of silence: within the stillness, God speaks. Every minute of silence can also be sponsored, raising money for projects led by young people in our Diocese.
