Please see Coffee and Cake - St John Fisher Please join us in the hall after Mass today for delicious home made cakes, sausage rolls and coffee in aid of our CAFOD project. Your generous support has helped families all over the world to escape the poverty that trapped them and to have hope that they can build a brighter future for themselves and their children. Becoming a Catholic - RCIA The next session is on Thursday 10 th November at 8.00pm at Sacred Heart. The theme will be The Life of Christ. Everyone is welcome including Catholics who want to know more about our faith. Holy Communion 2017 Closing Date Today (Sunday 6 th November) is the closing date for applications. The initial parent s meeting is on Monday 14 th November at 7.30pm in Sacred Heart Hall. Confirmation 2017 For young people in school year 10 or above. Application forms are now available in the porches. The initial meeting for parents and young people will be on Wednesday 23 rd November at 7.30pm in Sacred Heart Hall. Baptism Preparation The next Course for parents and expectant parents who wish to have a child baptised at Sacred Heart or St John Fisher will be on Monday 16 th

2 January at 7.00pm in Sacred Heart Hall. Please pick up a form from the church porch to register for the course and request the Baptism. Blessing of the Graves Next Sunday! This will take place on Sunday 13 th November at Sutton Road Cemetery. It will start at 3.00pm with prayers at the large cross and be followed by the blessing of individual graves. St John Fisher Eucharistic Ministers Following the refresher session last Wednesday, will all Ministers pick up an envelope from the Church porch. Thank you. Sacred Heart Children s Liturgy We now have a small group of volunteers who are willing to lead the Sacred Heart Children s Liturgy and are pleased to announce that it will re-start this Sunday 6 th November. It is open to children from Reception to Year 2 inclusive. (This means that those preparing for First Holy Communion should attend Mass and not the Children s Liturgy Session). Parents are very welcome (indeed encouraged!) to attend, especially those of the younger children. After Christmas, there will be an occasional Mass for children when there will be no separate Children s Liturgy. By the way, volunteers still welcome! Cockney Evening in aid of the charity Combat Stress Tickets are now available for our fun Cockney evening on Saturday 19 November in aid of the charity Combat Stress. Come and join us in the hall at St John Fisher where our cockney entertainer promises to keep us foot tapping all night. A hot and cold buffet will be available that will give you a taste of London cuisine: we will serve English, Indian and Chinese food. There will also be two complimentary bottles of wine on each table: one red and one white, but please bring any additional drink you may want. Tickets cost 10 each and are available after Mass and from Charmaine , Karen , Helen , Malcolm or Carmel Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30 pm start. Please be prompt. Transport to and from the hall is available. The charity, Combat Stress, offers help to veterans who leave the armed forces with complex psychological problems and deep emotional trauma that, for some, result in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. These mental health issues not only affect them but members of their families, making normal life very difficult, so please join us to support this vital work.

3 FOSH Quiz Night Feeling clever then come along to our Quiz night, Friday 18 th November 7.30pm in the school hall. Bring your own drinks and nibbles. 5 per person with a maximum of 8 in a team. Everyone is welcome. Please see Michelle Truter- Banks Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Appeal The deadline for handing in filled boxes is fast approaching, it is looking like 14th November will be the last Sunday to hand your box in. Please remember to ensure items are new and suitable, full details are in the leaflet. A new request for donations is sweets, packets or individually wrapped sweets, must have best before date at least March 2017 and NO chocolate. We still need small colouring books, tennis balls, adult toothbrushes and cuddly toys (big enough to cuddle but not too big). Monetary donations will help towards the shipping costs of 3 per box. Only 1 hour per month. If you are able to help, please call Kim Nicholson on Applications to Catholic Primary Schools September 2017 Intake If you are applying to a catholic primary school for a Reception place in September 2017, you may wish to ask Fr Graham for a Certificate of Catholic Practice. Appointments will be held during week commencing 21 st November please sign up on the sheets at the back of Sacred Heart. If you attend St John Fisher, please ring to book an appointment. You will need to bring the child s baptism certificate to the appointment, if you do not have it, please contact the parish of baptism and request a duplicate. These appointments will be for Reception Class applications only arrangements for the nursery class will be announced in the New Year. Rosary - The Holy Rosary is said in both Churches before the Saturday evening and Sunday morning Masses. It is also said in Sacred Heart Church after all weekday masses and 6.30pm when there is an evening Mass.

7 The Angelus is recited 5 minutes before Sunday (and Saturday 5.30pm) Masses. Confessions on Saturday: Sacred Heart am; St John Fisher immediately after the Saturday Mass. Confessions are available at other times by appointment
