St Paul Youth Ministry is focused on forming our young people through the study and practice of their faith, to challenge them to embrace the life of the church through prayer, service to our community and social activities. COLEBROOK CHOCOLATES IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS GIFTING Youth Ministry is making your Christmas shopping easier. We all have them on our gift giving list, someone who you just don t know what to get them. Colebrook Chocolates may be a good solution. Colebrook is made fresh locally in Connellsville. Pick up an order form in the vestibule, return it with payment by November 6. Pick up you order on November 18 and check one more thing off you Christmas to-do-list. Proceeds of the sales helps fund Youth Ministry activities. Fright Night at Kennywood Park Any students in grades 8-12 are invited to join Fr Lawrence and Fr Jim on Suday, October 29 for Phantom Fright Night at Kennywood Park. A bus will leave St Paul Parish parking lot at 5:30 p.m. and return by 10:30 p.m. Cost is $28.99 per Person. Reserve your spot along with payment by Monday, October 23 at our St Paul Parish office. PRAYER CHAIN The Prayer Chain is activated every Tuesday evening. If you know someone needing the prayer chain, or if you would like to volunteer your time on the chain, please call either of the leaders listed below: Philomena Lillie or Audrey & Mike Lucotch HOLY HOUR PRAYERS Our Lady of Grace Church will host a Holy Hour Prayers for Healing, nine consecutive Thursdays beginning Sept. 21 st thru Nov. 16 th from 6 PM to 7 PM. Exposition at 6 PM, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Novena at 6:30 PM, followed by Benediction. All are welcome. As you anticipate the birth of your child, please call or visit the parish office to make arrangements for Baptism. You should contact the office at least two months in advance of the child s birth. Sessions for the parents are required and are designed to reflect on the meaning of the Sacrament of Baptism, to review the ceremony, and to highlight the importance of the family s commitment to practice the Catholic Faith. Readings & Reflections THE HEAVENLY BANQUET The mountain of the Lord described in today s first reading is a place where there is no more hunger, no more weeping, and no more division of any kind. We need to pause and ponder these images every now and then, especially given the fact that we live in such a fractured world. The responsorial psalm continues to paint a picture of a place where only goodness and kindness flourish. These readings describe the heavenly banquet, to which God calls each of us through baptism and continues to call us throughout our lives. There are 6 more sessions and it is mandatory to attend the preparation sessions to be eligible to receive the sacrament. The ladies of our Rosary Altar Society have been hard at work getting ready for the Christmas Sale. Christmas gift items, artificial trees & ornaments, and holiday home décor will be on sale this year. There will be Basket Raffles, Dollar Tables and much more. And of course there will be food. Pizza, hot dogs and drinks are on the menu, cookies and candy will also be at the bake sale tables. (I ll get back to you later about the bake sale.) As you prepare for your holidays and you find holiday decorations that you no longer use, consider donating those gently used item to the Christmas Sale. Tyler Bandura is coordinating a Diocesan Day of Prayer for Religious Vocations. It will be held here at St. Paul Parish on November 8th from 11:00AM-7:00PM. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in the church during those hours and as we pray for more men and women to enter religious life. More details will follow as they become available. SAINT JAMES CHURCH - FALL BREAKFAST/BAKE SALE - Saint James Church, New Alexandria, will host a Fall Breakfast/Bake Sale on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Menu includes: Ham, Sausage, Pancakes, Eggs, Potatoes, Juice, Coffee and Tea. 5 DIOCESE CONSECRATED TO OUR LADY OF FATIMA This weekend, we observe in our parishes the consecration of the Diocese of Greensburg to Our Lady of Fatima. The Pennsylvania bishops consecrated the state to Our Lady of Fatima Sept. 27 at a Mass in Harrisburg, and Bishop Malesic consecrated the diocese to Our Lady of Fatima Oct. 7 at the diocesan Rosary Rally. The consecrations are on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the final apparition of Mary to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, on Oct. 13, ST.
