These totals are as of June 25, DLA Correction Due to a miscalculation at the Diocese, we reported an incorrect total in the June 17 bulletin. The correct total for the 2018 Diocesan Lenten Appeal is $209, Remade for Happiness ($4 Spiritual Growth Book) In this classic work, Fulton Sheen explains the secret of authentic happiness: being spiritually remade. A genuinely spiritual life, Sheen contends, consists in more than obeying a set of commands, reading the Bible, or even following the example of Jesus. Before all else, it consists in being recreated and incorporated into a new, higher kind of life - the supernatural life of grace - and in being brought into a new kind of spiritual relationship, as a child of God through Jesus Christ. What does it mean to be a Christian? Christianity is not a system of ethics; it is a life. It is not good advice; it is divine adoption. Being a Christian does not consist in just being kind to the poor, going to church, singing hymns, or serving on parish committees, though it includes all of these. It is first and foremost a love relationship with Jesus Christ. Lectio Prayer ($4 Spiritual Growth CD) In this informative presentation, Dr. Tim Gray, Augustine Institute President, shares how Lectio Prayer enables you to enter into a dialogue with God. This prayerful reading of Sacred Scripture is a proven means to encounter God in daily life and will benefit those new to prayer and the more experienced alike. The Bethlehem Project recently celebrated 20 years of service to those facing homelessness, were in need of emergency shelter or were residing in shelters. Attendees from our parish and community celebrated this accomplishment with a Gala on Friday, June 8. We spent the evening sharing a delicious meal at Rizzo s Malabar Inn, enjoying the fellowship of those who believe in the mission of the Bethlehem Project and purchasing tickets for some wonderful prizes. The event was a great success, and raised over $8, for our ministry! The Bethlehem Project Advisory Board wishes to thank all those who attended, especially, Bishop Edward Malesic, JCL, whose vision of stewardship for our diocese is an inspiration. The celebration could not have been a success without those who sponsored the event, donated the many prizes and worked behind the scenes before and at the event. A detailed list of our sponsors and donors will be featured in the next issue of the Bethlehem Project s newsletter, Inn the News. The generosity of all who have supported The Bethlehem Project over the years is deeply appreciated. Because there was no place for them to stay Luke 2:7 Just a reminder that each month the St. Vincent de Paul Society purchases 675 rolls of toilet paper to distribute to our food pantry. This is enough to give 168 families four rolls of toilet paper. However, the pantry serves 280 families. We need your donations to make up the difference. Please consider donating toilet paper, paper towels and Kleenex or napkins to our paper collection when you come to Mass, at the end of the month, or when you stop by to pray during the week. Add a little something to your shopping list now so you can donate at the end of the month! Thank you for your continued support!
