The first is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8th, and the 3rd Sunday of Advent when our focus is Joyful, Hopeful Expectation! With that in mind if anyone is interested in those dates for flowers, please call the Parish Office

If you know someone needing the prayer chain, or if you would like to volunteer your me on the chain, please call either of the leaders listed below: Philomena Lillie or Audrey & Mike Lucotch NATIONAL CATHOLIC YOUTH CONFERENCE A pilgrimage of faith, the National Catholic Youth Conference is an exciting, biennial three-day experience of prayer, community and empowerment for Catholic teenagers addressing a wide variety of topics including Catholic spirituality and prayer, social justice issues, sexuality and leadership. St. Paul Youth Ministry Grades 6-12 ST PAUL YOUTH MINISTRY CHECK IT OUT! This is an open invitation to all students in grades six through twelve to join us on Sunday evenings to discover what God is calling you to do as the young church. Saint Paul Youth Ministry is focused on forming our young people through the study and practice of their faith and to challenge them to embrace the life of the church through prayer, service to our community and social activities. We would like to express our appreciation for the hard work provided by our Rosary Altar Society, their families and friends, and all of our parishioners during their annual Christmas Sale. As is their process, the Rosary Altar Society and gang started six weeks prior to the sale to enhance and repair donations provided by generous people. Beautiful baskets and delicious baked goods were also provided by so many good parishioners and friends. Our kitchen helpers provided menu items to satisfy all of our patrons as well. To all of you, along with those who financially and spiritually supported our sale, we are most grateful. The proceeds were just under $10,000! Thanks again RAS CHRISTMAS SOCIAL ANNOUNCEMENT All active and honorary members of the St. Paul Rosary Altar Society are invited to attend the annual Advent Social. The event is being held at Ferrante's Lakeview on Sunday, December 2 beginning at 1:00 p.m. We will have a buffet meal that includes ham, chicken, pasta, potatoes, green beans, salad, and cake. There is no cost for members but each guest will pay $20. Please contact either Debbie West at or Nancy Soles at by Wednesday, November 28 to confirm your attendance. HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS RAFFLE TO BENEFIT BETHLEHEM PROJECT The Bethlehem Project, a ministry of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral (BSC), will hold a Home for the Holidays Raffle on Sunday, December 16, The Bethlehem Project helps those facing homelessness in Central Westmoreland County. Two types of tickets are available: a Sports and Leisure raffle ticket with a chance to win Penguins Tickets, Steeler Tickets or a wine and liquor basket; and a Basket Raffle ticket with a chance to win one of many prizes. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY Due to the possibility of fowl weather and the craziness of the holiday season, we will again suspend Continental Breakfast Gatherings during the months of November & December. They will resume again in January Also, if it becomes necessary to cancel Faith Formation or any other meeting, your group leader will contact you. Mass is rarely cancelled. However, use good judgement. If the weather is too bad, stay home. Catholic Masses are on several channels on your TV. 46 A M L... J 18, 2019 The March for Life Rally will take place at noon at 12th St. on the National Mall, in between Madison Drive and Jefferson Drive. Following the Rally, the March will begin on Constitution Avenue between 12th and 14th Streets at approximately 1:00 pm. Join in the largest pro-life rally ever. This rally insures that our legislators know that we have concerns for the unborn, elderly and disabled people, and that we want legislation that protects them all. The tide is turning, be part of the wave! Watch for travel arrangements in upcoming bulletins. It s easy to understand today s scriptures as events that happened long ago and far away, or predictions that will come true somewhere, some day. But they invite us to claim Christ as our King here and now. Jesus words to Pilate in the Gospel remind us that his kingdom transcends time and place. And the prophecies from Daniel and Revelation give us reason to be faithful to Christ our King right here and right now. By concluding the year with this feast we are proclaiming our faith that Jesus Christ is the one and only King over all seasons, all peoples, and all of creation. No matter what nation we belong to or what language we speak, he has made us into a kingdom (Revelation 1:6) one people united in love and peace for all eternity. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. MEETINGS, PLEASE & THANK YOU Please remember that all meetings here need to be scheduled through the Parish Office. We need to know when someone is here for reasons of security and for insurance coverage in case of an accident while you are here, whether that is property damage or personal injury. Also, it helps us to make sure that there are rooms assigned for all the groups. Additionally, if you have keys to the building you will find that they no longer work. The building is being re-keyed, this is to increase our security here. Because there are a limited number of keys, anyone having a meeting here during our off hours will need to borrow a key and then return it by slipping it under the Parish Office door after your meeting. So, the new process is: schedule your meeting with the office, arrange to borrow a key, slip the key under the door when you are done. Thank you! FAMILIES HELPING FAMILIES 2018 Once again we are helping Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Greensburg provide a brighter Christmas to a number of area families. A list has been provided to us with gift suggestions for 20+ children. We ask for your help with this outreach to local families. To participate you may either shop for a gift or give a monetary donation. If using a check for your donation please make it out to St. Paul Parish and notate on the bottom FHF All gifts must be turned in to the church office by NOON ON December 3. Forms are available in the vestibule for your convenience. You may tear off the response portion and drop it in the collection basket or call your response into the office by November 27. You will be contacted with further details. VOCATIONS DISCERNMENT FOR BOYS IN GRADES 6-12 The Office for Priestly Vocations is hosting vocations discernment events for young men. Jeremiah Days, for boys in grades 6-8 and their parents, will be February 9 and April 13 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at St. Barbara Parish, Harrison City. Priesthood Discernment days will be held for young men in grades 9-12 at Greensburg Central Catholic Junior-Senior High School from 6:30-8 p.m. December 9, February 17, March 10, April 14 and May 12. MELCHIZEDEK PROJECT VOCATIONS DISCERNMENT SESSIONS FOR MEN IN LATROBE The Melchizedek Project evenings for young adults to discern a vocation to the priesthood will be held November 25, and December 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the rectory at Holy Family Parish, Latrobe. But, before you set the date please contact the Parish Office at You will need to talk to Father Lawrence, and then confirm a date that the Church will be available. Because Marriage is a serious step in life and it is a Sacrament, Marriage Preparation is necessary. Please contact the Parish Office at least 6 months prior to the anticipated time when you want the wedding to occur to allow time for the preparatory meetings. Page 4

5 ADVENT TWILIGHT RETREAT During this Advent Season, the Church invites us to prepare for the celebration of the Birth of Jesus at Christmas. As this season begins, the world tells us we need to be shopping, buying, spending etc. We need to pause and find out the true meaning of Advent. Sometimes we do not have a whole day to make a retreat. Do you just need some time to stop and pause to reflect on the Advent themes of quiet, waiting, patience, hope? Then come spend a few hours in quiet prayer with Mary as she contemplates the arrival of her Son, Jesus. Blessed Sacrament Cathedral Parish is sponsoring an Advent Twilight Retreat from 6:30-8:30 pm on Monday, December 3. The evening will take place in the Parish Social Hall. SHOP FOR CHARITY TO BENEFIT CATHOLIC CHARITIES Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Greensburg will host Shop for Charity Dec. 3 from 5-7 p.m. at Prima Diva Boutique, 435 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. The shop, which features women s and children s clothing, home décor and gifts, will donate 20 percent of the evening s sales to Catholic Charities. Proceeds will help provide heating fuel, utility assistance, food boxes, diapers and baby items to people in need in the diocese.
