Everybody has personal issues and it is not uncommon to have an issue with authority. The sin of pride deals with this problem so it's important to look at God's authority in our life. Pride proceeds the fall. Satan's sin is that of pride. He thought he knew better than God. When we have a problem with God's authority we are no better than Satan. The advantage with being a human is that we have been given the gift of repentance. Let's us ask God's forgiveness for the times we have offended him with our pride. When we proclaim Christ is King we humbly submit our authority to the authority of the Almighty. Christ is our King and we are his loyal subjects. Let us live lives that proclaims this in how we conduct all of our affairs. Being obedient to God will reduce the personal issues we have in life and help us get ahead. Praise be Christ the King! 3 Stewardship of Prayer & Faith Saint Andrew Novena It is piously believed that whoever recites the following prayers fifteen times a day from the feast of St. Andrew - November 30 - until Christmas Day will obtain what is asked. Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in the piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, O my God! to hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of Our Saviour Jesus Christ, and of His blessed Mother. Light On Liturgy This weekend we end the liturgical year as we celebrate Jesus Christ King of the Universe. The new Liturgical year begins next Sunday with the First Sunday of Advent. A time set aside to remember God entering into time as a tiny baby and looking forward to Jesus second coming at the end of time. Prayer in the Square Saturday, December 1st Come pray for the sanctity of human life and for an end to the persecution of Christians worldwide. Our rosary begins at 8:30 AM following the 8:00 AM Mass. Please join us at the Ten Commandments Monument located on our parish grounds. Christ the King "Hail the King of the Jews." The kingship of Christ has always been different than the world expected. Many of Jesus' disciples hoped for an earthly Messiah who would overthrow the Romans. But, as Jesus says in today's Gospel, his kingdom is "not of this world." And yet it is a very real kingdom. Jesus is a very real Lord. And we are called to invite Jesus to be king of our lives. In the early 20th century, disillusionment with authority of all kinds was growing. Revolu ons, atheis c thinkers, and World War I contributed to a rejec on of faith. In 1925, Pope Pius XI called the Church and the world back to a sense of hope in Christ. He ins tuted the solemnity of Christ the King on the last Sunday before Advent. 6 Solemnity of Christ the King There are moments, or maybe places, or probably memories, which, when summoned, can bring us to a place of deep truth. Pilate had one of those moments. He had this interesting, serene Jew in front of him. He had the power to crucify him, yet this Jew did not plead for his life. Nor would he engage in any defense. Aren t you the king of the Jews? roared Pilate. Jesus looked around, and then stated the obvious: My kingdom does not belong to this world. There are places that do not belong to the kingdom of Jesus. My husband recently visited Auschwitz, that place so clearly taken over by demons. All the visitors were struck dumb in the presence of pure evil. The kingdom of Jesus is not there. But let s not linger, for the kingdom of Jesus will redeem all those deaths. Let s linger where truth resides. For example, Pope Francis said recently, You cannot be a Christian and an anti-semite. Doesn t that truth take you to a place outside this world, to a place, say, that resembles the kingdom of heaven? Or maybe it was a courageous family member who confronted you about an addiction. Or were you, perhaps, the one to confront the lies of addiction with truth? Perhaps you were with a person with some disabilities, and observed how respectfully and kindly he or she was treated. There. It s easy to spot it. There is the reign of God. Step into it. There are traces of the kingdom all around us, embedded in courage and kindness. Or, as the great C.S. Lewis wrote, The word is out that the king may land. But until that day ah Advent. Where do you experience the profound peace of the kingdom of God?
