Kris Dries ADORATION CHAPEL On June 24th we celebrate the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist who heralded the coming of Jesus. He pointed out the Lamb of redemption, baptized the very author of Baptism and bore witness to the faith by his martyrdom. Ask him to help you to live your faith in an exemplary way. On Friday, June 29th we celebrate the feast of St. Peter and St. Paul two of the greatest saints in the history of the Church, who were martyred for their Faith. Jesus told Peter that he was the rock on which He would build His Church. After Paul s conversion he made many missionary journeys and evangelized many. How are you doing in your efforts to evangelize? Like Peter and Paul may we be able to say: I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7) Visit Jesus in the St. Mary s Perpetual Adoration Chapel often and ask Him to help you evangelize and also complete the race successfully. He is there 24/7 waiting for YOU! St. Mary's Parish has had the good fortune of having a copy of the Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima since Countless parishioners have welcomed this statue into their homes, thus fostering devotion to the Blessed Mother. BAPTISM PREPARATION Children ages 6 and under: Those seeking to have children baptized should be registered, active members of St. Mary s Visitation Parish. Parents who request baptism for a child are expected to complete a preparation class. It is offered bimonthly. The scheduled classes for this year are: Saturday, July 7 th from 10:30-11:30am in church Saturday, September 1 st from 10:30-11:30am in church It is generally easier if the preparation is done before the birth of the child. If you have attended a session within the last five years, it is not necessary to retake the class. THE SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY The Catholic Church takes preparation for the Sacrament of Matrimony very seriously. Generally at least 6 months should be allowed for this preparation. Engaged couples themselves should call the parish office to schedule an appointment to discuss their plans. Marriage can take place any day of the week, although Saturday is generally preferred by couples. Sunday weddings are possible, but a wedding Mass is not allowed for such occasions. THE SACRAMENT OF THE SICK The Sacrament of the Sick is available every Monday after the 6:30am Mass. Members of the parish facing surgery or other medical procedures or tests are invited to receive this Sacrament prior to their appointment. SUMMER SERVICE SERIES Summer Service Series is a joint effort between St. Mary s Visitation, St. John Vianney and St. Dominic s to provide a variety of one day service opportunities this summer to help parish members of varying ages sample service agencies at work within the Milwaukee area. Participation in the series provides personal outreach to people whose lives are challenged in a variety of ways. Volunteers may organize, lead or participate in a variety of offerings. Summer Service Series is coordinated by the Tri Parish Planning Committee. Goals of Our Summer Service Series Events: Serve people with different needs and circumstances. Inspire interest and motivate activism. Open to anyone from any of our parishes. One-time commitment for busy schedules. Planned by leaders who guide participants from start to finish. Encourage time to reflect on the experience, through the eyes of our faith. If you have children, there are events that include children of varied ages. Great opportunities for service hours with teens. In order to have an accurate volunteer count, please register early. Registrations will be open until three days before the event. Kathy s House is a hospitality house dedicated to providing lodging and a supportive environment in a ST. MARY S VISITATION 4 THE NATIVITY OF SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST

5 home away from home for patients and families traveling to the Milwaukee area for medical treatment. Meet at Kathy s House, bake for the patients and their families. Open to individuals and families with children over the age of 4. Leader: Dottie Baker. Thursday, July 19th, 9am-noon, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, 1700 West Fond du Lac Ave., Milwaukee. Help prepare food for distribution to community partners serving the hungry. Volunteers must be able to stand and lift up to 15 pounds. Children age 10+ welcome with parents. All required to wear closed toe, sturdy shoes. Limit 20 people. Leader: Chris Pfankuch. Tuesday, July 24, 4-6pm, Fisher House, 5000 W. National Ave. Milwaukee. Serving dinner to veterans and their families, bring a casserole, veggies or salad, loaf of bread or a dessert. Serving military and veterans families in their time of need, Fisher House provides meals and a comforting home away from home while a loved one is receiving care in an unfamiliar environment. Limit 8 (all ages) Leader: Molly Schmidt Wednesday, July 25th, 4:30-8:30pm The Guest House, 1216 N. 13th St., Milwaukee. Help prepare and serve a meal to the homeless at Milwaukee s largest homeless shelter. There will be a carpool from St. John Vianney at 4:30 pm, returning to SJV at approximately 8:30pm. Thursday, July 26, 2018, 4:00-7:00pm All Saints Catholic Church Meal Program, 4051 N. 25th Street, Milwaukee. Program serves people, bring complete casserole for 10, loaf of bread and a dessert. All Saints Parish serves many cultures and languages. 10 people needed, all ages. LUNCHROOM SUPERVISOR NEEDED St. Mary s is looking for a Lunchroom Supervisor. The hours for this paid position are 11am-1pm each school day. K3 PROGRAM OPTIONS The format of our K3 Program has changed from the Mon./ Wed./Fri. and Tues./Thurs. option to the ability to attend school as many days as you wish for your child. Mass will be followed by a picnic, games for all ages, face painting, music, relay races, a bouncy house for younger children and a rock climbing wall for older children! JOHN THE EVANGELIST Visit the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 812 N. Jackson St., Milwaukee during Bastille Days (July 12-15) for tours, a special evening of prayer for peace on Friday, 7-9 p.m., the annual French Mass on Saturday at 5:15 p.m., and of course, specialty coffees served in the Cathedral Garden, Saturday and Sunday, to benefit the Open Door Café as well as an opportunity to shop upcycled plastic from Cathedral Square Enterprises artisans. For more information, visit KEEPIN THE FAITH AT ST. CAMILLUS St. Camillus is in need of volunteers to help with transporting (pushing wheelchairs) our assisted living residents to and from Mass on Sundays at Guardian Angel and Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel (located on Campus). As you can imagine, many of our residents have an extremely strong faith, but are unable to transport themselves to Mass. We are excited to say ST.
