If you are interested in joining the parish, please call the Parish Office, or Nora Mihm, nmihm@stmaryeg.org to make an appointment. Baptism Preparation Children ages 6 and under: Those seeking to have children baptized should be registered, active members of St. Mary s Visitation Parish. Parents who request baptism for a child are expected to complete a preparation class. It is offered bi-monthly. The scheduled classes for 2019 include: Saturday, March 2 nd from 10:30-11:30am in church Saturday, May 4 th from 10:30-11:30am in church It is generally easier if the preparation is done before the birth of the child. If you have attended a session within the last five years, it is not necessary to retake the class. Adults ages 12 and up: Adults who wish to join the Catholic Church and were not baptized can participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). The Sacrament of Matrimony The Catholic Church takes preparation for the Sacrament of Matrimony very seriously. Generally at least 6 months should be allowed for this preparation. Engaged couples themselves should call the parish office to schedule an appointment to discuss their plans. Marriage can take place any day of the week, although Saturday is generally preferred by couples. Sunday weddings are possible, but a wedding Mass is not allowed for such occasions. The Sacrament of the Sick The Sacrament of the Sick is available every Monday after the 6:30am Mass. Please stop by the sacristy prior to Mass to let the priest know. Members of the parish facing surgery or other medical procedures or tests are invited to receive this Sacrament prior to their appointment. Volunteers rotate each month or every 2-3 months in laundering and ironing the small linens (mainly the purificators) used during the Masses and on the altar. During your designated month, linens are taken home once a week and then returned to the sacristy the following week. Instructions and support from an experienced launderer will be provided. Listecki will preside over the Archdiocese of Milwaukee s Respect Life Mass, Tuesday, January 22 at 7pm at Lumen Christi Parish,11300 St. James Lane, Mequon, in observance of the National Day of Penance and Prayer for Life. Please join Catholics across the country in prayer in penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion and for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life, from conception to natural death. Praying the Rosary for Life begins at 6:30pm. St. Mary s Prepares Meal For St. Ben s February 5 St. Mary s Visitation parishioners will once again prepare and serve dinner to the guests at St. Ben s on the first Tuesdays of the even months in The first dinner will be on Tuesday, February 5th. 5 Adoration Chapel Tuesday, January 22nd is the Day of Prayer for the legal protection of unborn children. Plan to spend time in prayer in the St. Mary's Perpetual Adoration Chapel in reparation for the countless abortions which have been performed and to intercede with Jesus for the success of the pro-life movement. Jesus said, I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly. Demonstrate that the coming of Jesus was not in vain. Plead for respect for all life from the moment of conception to natural death. Pope Benedict XVI said, Having respect for every human being and for all of creation as God s handiwork and having trust in God s overwhelming love are the keys to peace and a better future. Make use of these keys and the Adoration Chapel so that we may have peace and a better future. Thursday, January 24th is the Feast of St. Francis de Sales, the patron of our Archdiocesan seminary. In your visits to our Chapel, pray for the seminarians, for all priests and deacons, and for an increase in vocations to the priesthood. Thank God for those who have answered His call to serve Him and pray that they may continue to serve Him faithfully. This year s theme is Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed. This is a very fitting theme for St. Mary s, which is known for exceptional faith development in our students, a strong focus on academic excellence, high moral standards, and a commitment to service. At all the Masses next weekend you will see our students participating as greeters, readers, gift bearers, acolytes and choir members. I m sure that you ll be as proud of our students as I am. What helps make this possible is the dedication and commitment of you, our parishioners. It is the generations of families before us, the 160 years of commitment and sacrifice of our parishioners, that has made Catholic education a priority here at St. Mary s.
