James Carrig New Good Grief Session Begins March 20 Are you ready to move forward in your grief journey? Would you like to smile again? Consider attending St. Mary s Good Grief support group. Certified Grief Counselor, Deacon Tom Binder, will lead a 12-week session beginning Wednesday, March 20th from 10am to 11:30am in the Atrium Library. A few of the topics that will be discussed include: The Difference Between Grief and Mourning; Special Days and Holidays; Expectations vs. Reality; Guilt, Regret, Self-Blame; Grief Bursts; and Developing a new Self-Identity. You can come close to Him there any day of the week, any hour of the day or night. The Chapel is such a blessing for our parish and those who visit Jesus there. Make use of it! Life is short. If you are interested in joining the parish, please call the Parish Office, or Nora Mihm, nmihm@stmaryeg.org to make an appointment. Baptism Preparation Children ages 6 and under: Those seeking to have children baptized should be registered, active members of St. Mary s Visitation Parish. Parents who request baptism for a child are expected to complete a preparation class. It is offered bi-monthly. The scheduled classes for 2019 include: Saturday, March 2 nd from 10:30-11:30am in church Saturday, May 4 th from 10:30-11:30am in church It is generally easier if the preparation is done before the birth of the child. If you have attended a session within the last five years, it is not necessary to retake the class. Adults ages 12 and up: Adults who wish to join the Catholic Church and were not baptized can participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). The Sacrament of Matrimony The Catholic Church takes preparation for the Sacrament of Matrimony very seriously. Generally at least 6 months should be allowed for this preparation. Engaged couples themselves should call the parish office to schedule an appointment to discuss their plans. Marriage can take place any day of the week, although Saturday is generally preferred by couples. Sunday weddings are possible, but a wedding Mass is not allowed for such occasions. The Sacrament of the Sick The Sacrament of the Sick is available every Monday after the 6:30am Mass. Please stop by the sacristy prior to Mass to let the priest know. Members of the parish facing surgery or other medical procedures or tests are invited to receive this Sacrament prior to their appointment. 6 St. Mary s Seniors Group Meets March 4 For our March 4 SMV Seniors meeting, we will have a group from St. Camillus who will offer a complimentary Senior Fitness Test. The members receive their results immediately, along with some recommendations on ways to prevent falls and stay safe in their homes. As you re aware, falls are a top reason seniors are hospitalized each year. Preventing falls is a top priority at St. Camillus and in the community. It will be a fun, social experience! The folks from St. Camillus will bring information about aging in place and giveaway items. Come join us at noon on Monday, March 4 in the SMV Senior Center. We will have sandwiches and refreshments. To register in advance for $18, visit or pay $20 at the door. Charming Treasures Help at the St. Camillus Gift Shop St. Camillus, W. Wisconsin Avenue in Wauwatosa, recently opened up a gift shop, Charming Treasures. Charming Treasures is a new and innovative gift shop that features both affordable and upscale items that will appeal to both our campus residents as well as families and visitors from the community. All of the proceeds from Charming Treasures go to the St. Camillus Foundation. We are seeking volunteers to help customers and run the cash register at St. Camillus. Days/Times: The gift shop shifts are 10am- 12:30pm and 12:30-3:00pm. We are willing to work with your schedule, but currently having openings on Monday afternoons, Tuesday morning and afternoon, Wednesday mornings, and Friday afternoons. Requirements: background checks and TB testing are required for volunteers and will be provided at no charge by St. Camillus. Must be 18 years or older.
