Adoration Chapel This weekend marks the beginning of the new church year and the beginning of Advent. Now is the acceptable time spoken of by the Spirit, the day of salvation, peace and reconciliation: the great season of Advent. (words of St. Charles Borromeo) We must all prepare for Christ s coming at Christmas, His second coming at the end of the world, and His coming into our lives by divine grace. St. Mary s Perpetual Adoration Chapel is the ideal setting for reflecting on, and preparing for, Christ s coming. He is there 24/7 to bestow His graces, blessings and peace on you. He is there to hear our prayers. His blessings know no boundaries. I always begin my prayer in silence, for it is in the silence of the heart that GOD SPEAKS. God is the friend of silence we need to listen to God because it is not what we say but what God says to us and through us that matters. (St. Teresa of Calcutta) See how lives are changed when you accept God s call to follow Him! On Saturday, December 8th we celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary the patronal feast of the Catholic Church of the United States. To Jesus through Mary. Our church and our country and our world certainly need their help! Honor them by making frequent visits to the Adoration Chapel. Better yet, join the Adoration program! We Need Coverage: Thursdays 2-3am, 2nd & 4th weeks only, Call Jack Morien, Saturdays 8-9am, Call Nancy Frazer, pm every other week, Call Nancy Frazer, You may also sign up online on our website, stmaryeg.org/perpetual-adoration.html. 6 Family Rosary is December 9 The Family Rosary, led by St. Mary s Christian Women, takes place the second Sunday of every month. Please make plans to join us next Sunday, December 9th at 5pm in Church. The Perfect Gift Do you know someone special who could use a comforting reminder that they are loved and being prayed for? If you do, please stop in the Parish Office and pick up a prayer shawl. They are beautiful gifts for family members, friends, neighbors, homebound or those undergoing treatment or surgery. Recipients receive a comforting reminder that the prayers of our parish community are with them and that God is near when one is suffering. Prayer shawls have been knit or crocheted by parishioners with love and prayers for the recipients. They have been blessed, beautifully packaged and are free of charge. St. Mary s Prayer Shawl Ministry is supported by Christian Women. Stop in the Parish Office and pick one up soon! Communion to the Homebound One of our responsibilities as a worshiping community is to care for the sick of our parish. We can do that in two ways: prayer and bringing Communion to the sick. St. Mary s Homebound Ministry connects us to our parish members who are unable to celebrate Mass with us due to illness or physical limitations. Homebound ministers distribute Communion following a prayer format, share parish news and bring a bulletin to those they are visiting. Homebound visits are a wonderful opportunity to cultivate friendships and share your faith in the Lord with others. Our homebound parishioners are loved and prayed for and are vital members of our parish community. If you feel inspired to help, please contact Mary Sue Protz at the Parish Office, or msprotz@stmaryeg.org. Next Sunday is Feed the Hungry The 2nd Sunday of every month is our Feed the Hungry collection which benefits the food pantries at St. Rose of Lima and Blessed Savior parishes. Please bring nonperishable food items to the atrium or the back vestibule of church. For I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me. - Matthew 25:35 Please join us! St. Mary s Visitation Playgroup Sunday, December 9, am-11am in the Senior Center Parishioners and families with children 0-5 are invited to play, enjoy kid-friendly snacks, crafts and conversation. Please contact Katie Carnell, kasdorfk@yahoo.com or Monica Schmidt, monica.e.schmidt@gmail.com with questions. AROUND THE ARCHDIOCESE Single Again Support Group Single Again is a tri-parish support group for those in the process of divorce (separated) and beyond. It is open to men and women from any parish or none. It is free and does not require registration. Single Again offers an opportunity to learn, find support and make new friends all leading to healing. Guests are welcome. The group generally meets twice a month on Thursday evenings throughout the year. Some of the upcoming topics include: Forgiveness, When and How?; Relationship with God and the Church; Dealing with Loneliness, Learning to Trust Again, Creating a Social Life; Dating; Making Decisions Alone; Dealing with Holidays, and Looking Ahead. Sessions are held at St. John Vianney, 1755 N. Calhoun Rd, Brookfield, in the Parish Center, second floor, from 7-8:30 PM. For further information, contact Mary Janowak at Coffee Clutch Assistant Needed Enjoy a warm cup of joe, a sweet treat and visit with St. Camillus residents. Do you love visiting with others and indulging in a sweet treat? Then you will love to come in and be our Coffee Clutch Assistant. The duties would include: helping to invite residents to the program, help set up coffee / cookie trays, help serve residents and join in the conversation with us. Help with clean up and getting residents to Mass before 3:30. We need a volunteer that is able to push wheelchairs and initiate good conversation! This would be every Friday from 1:30-3:00pm. ST.
