On Wednesday, September 12th we celebrate the feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary. Invoke her name often in your prayers she will surely help you! On Friday, the 14th we commemorate the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, and Saturday the 15th is the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. Galatians 6:14 tells us: We should glory in the cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ, for He is our salvation, our life and our resurrection; through Him we are saved and made free. As Jesus was raised on the cross, His Mother Mary stood by Him, sharing His sufferings. Visit the St. Mary s Perpetual Adoration Chapel and thank Jesus and Mary for enduring such sufferings for us. Ask them to give you the strength and help to endure your sufferings, whatever they may be. Please remember to also pray for our Church which certainly is suffering at this time. Catholic Relief Services Assisting India Flood Victims In the Province of Kerala, India, heavy rains have caused rivers to overflow, breaching nearly three dozen dams. Last week, families lost everything as devastating floods and landslides left homes and crops destroyed and caused hundreds of deaths. Food has now become scarce and water sources, contaminated. Catholic Relief Services is on the ground right now assisting flood victims. If you are interested in helping, please send your donation to Catholic Relief Services, 228 W. Lexington St, Baltimore, MD or india-floods. Safeguarding All of God s Family Training Sessions Parents and guardians play a key role in the success of parish programs for young people and will be in the best position to protect their own children as well as all the children in the parish community. Every teacher, coach and volunteer who works with children in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee s parishes and schools must attend a safe environment class and have a background check before he or she is permitted to work in any school or parish-related job or activity that involves contact with children. St. Mary s Visitation will offer training sessions on Tuesday, September 11 from 6-9pm or Thursday, September 13 from 6-9pm in the Senior Center. Christian Women Kick-off Breakfast is September 30 Please join St. Mary s Visitation Christian Women as they kick off another year of wonderful events on Sunday, September 30 with their Sunday Breakfast and Speaker event. The event takes place at 10am, following the 9am Mass in the Church Atrium. You ll be treated to a deliciously famous Christian Women breakfast along with an inspiring talk from featured speaker, Annemarie Scobey-Polachek, a contributing editor with U.S. Catholic. If you are interested in joining the parish, please call the Parish Office, or Nora Mihm, nmihm@stmaryeg.org to make an appointment. Baptism Preparation Children ages 6 and under: Those seeking to have children baptized should be registered, active members of St. Mary s Visitation Parish. Parents who request baptism for a child are expected to complete a preparation class. It is offered bi-monthly. The scheduled classes for this year are: Saturday, November 3 rd from 10:30-11:30am in church It is generally easier if the preparation is done before the birth of the child. If you have attended a session within the last five years, it is not necessary to retake the class. Children ages 6-12: Please contact Josh Dieterich, or jdieterich@stmaryeg.org. Adults ages 12 and up: Adults who wish to join the Catholic Church and were not baptized can participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). The Sacrament of Matrimony The Catholic Church takes preparation for the Sacrament of Matrimony very seriously. Generally at least 6 months should be allowed for this preparation. Engaged couples themselves should call the parish office to schedule an appointment to discuss their plans. Marriage can take place any day of the week, although Saturday is generally preferred by couples. Sunday weddings are possible, but a wedding Mass is not allowed for such occasions. The Sacrament of the Sick The Sacrament of the Sick is available every Monday after the 6:30am Mass. Please stop by the sacristy prior to Mass to let the priest know. Members of the parish facing surgery or other medical procedures or tests are invited to receive this Sacrament prior to their appointment. St. Mary s Visitation s K4-4th grade and EDGE Middle School (5th-8th grade) Catholic Formation classes kick off this Wednesday the 12th! The K4-4th grade classes meet 6:15-7:30pm in the school. EDGE classes meet from 6:15-7:45pm in the Attic (5th) and the Atrium (6-8th). If you still need to register your child(ren), please do that ASAP so we can be ready for them!
