Members of the parish facing surgery or other medical procedures or tests are invited to receive this sacrament prior to their medical procedures. If you are interested in parish membership, it would be most helpful if you would call to make an appointment to register ( ). An appointment will guarantee the presence of a staff member to answer your questions and walk through a welcome packet with you. Baptism Preparation Children ages 6 and under: Those seeking to have children baptized should be registered, active members of St. Mary s Visitation Parish. Parents who request baptism for a child are expected to complete a preparation class. It is offered bi-monthly. The scheduled classes for this year are: Saturday, July 1 st from 10:30-11:30am in church Saturday, September 9 th from 10:30-11:30am in church It is generally easier if the preparation is done before the birth of the child. If you have attended a session within the last five years, it is not necessary to retake the class. To schedule a baptism, please view the baptism dates on the parish website, Please contact Jenny Dascoli in the Liturgy & Music office at or jdascoli@stmaryeg.org for more information or to register for the baptism class. Children ages 6-12: Please call the Liturgy & Music Office. Adults ages 12 and up: Adults who wish to join the Catholic Church and were not baptized can participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). Please call Josh Dieterich, Co-director of Christian Formation - Middle School, Adult and Family Ministry, for more information. The Sacrament of Matrimony The Catholic Church takes preparation for the Sacrament of Matrimony very seriously. Generally at least 6 months should be allowed for this preparation. Engaged couples themselves should call the parish office to schedule an appointment to discuss their plans. Marriage can take place any day of the week, although Saturday is generally preferred by couples. Sunday weddings are possible, but a wedding Mass is not allowed for such occasions.

3 3 During the month of May, we as Catholics traditionally honor Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth. To celebrate Mary s devotion to Christ, we will once again be crowning her. This year, St. Mary s Visitation s May Crowning will take place at the beginning of the 5pm Mass on Saturday, May 13. This is also the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, and the 100th Anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady to three shepherd children in the small village of Fatima in Portugal in This special devotion will feature participation by our 8th graders as they take their first step in farewell to St. Mary s school, and our parish second graders will also participate in recognition of their First Holy Communion. Mother's Day Rose Sale St. Mary s Visitation Respect Life Committee volunteers will be offering Mother s Day roses for a donation of $2.50 each after all the Masses the weekend of May 13th & 14th in the church atrium and back vestibule. Adoration Chapel In this month dedicated to our Blessed Mother, intercede with her to help you grow in your reverence, love and adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. To Jesus through Mary. Spend time with Him in the St. Mary's Perpetual Adoration Chapel. He is there 24/7 awaiting your visit, and anxious to bestow His blessings on you. While there, please remember in your prayers those who are receiving First Holy Communion on May 7th. Saturday, May 13th is the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima-- the 100th anniversary of her appearance there. Heed her pleas and pray for the conversion and consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Pray the rosary daily for the conversion of hearts so that we may have a better, more loving, more peaceful world. More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of. Mother's Day is May 14th. Spend an hour in the Adoration Chapel for the intentions of your Mother (or Grandmother, Godmother, Aunt, etc.). Present her with a Gift of Love card which is available in the vestibule of the Chapel. The benefits for her (and you) will be endless and everlasting. 6 Human Trafficking: Education & Awareness Join us on Thursday, May 18 from 7-8:30pm at St. Dominic Catholic Church as Deacon Steve Przedpelski of the Franciscan Peacemakers Street Ministry and Emmy Myers, an amazing and courageous survivor of human trafficking will be the guest speakers addressing questions such as: How does this industry affect you as a Wisconsin resident? Where does Wisconsin rank in the United States in Human Trafficking? How do you protect your children from this growing industry? The program is sponsored by the St. Dominic Respect Life Committee. Mission Pilgrimages for Young Adults The Office for World Mission, in collaboration with Brew City Catholic and Catholic Financial Life, is offering Mission Pilgrimages for Young Adults (ages 18-39) to serve and learn with our Sister Parish, La Sagrada Familia (Holy Family) in the Dominican Republic. Three trip options are offered: Cultural Focused Immersion (May 30 June 6), Service Focused Immersion (June 6-13), and Pilgrimage of Accompaniment, a two week stay for those who choose to participate in both one week Immersions.
