October 9 - November 5 Join us in partnering with Milwaukee Public Television in collecting NEW mittens, gloves, hats and scarves in sizes for men, women and children. The greatest need is for children. All donations will stay in the local community. Last year, Milwaukee Public Television collected 8,285 items and served 42 agencies in southeastern Wisconsin. Prayer of Eucharistic Adorers: Heavenly Father, increase our faith in the real presence of Your Son, Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. We desire to adore Him, to give Him thanks and to make reparation for sins. We need Your peace in our hearts and among nations. We need conversion from our sins and the mercy of Your forgiveness. May we obtain this through prayer and our union with the Eucharistic Lord. We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord. Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament help us to spread the glory of Your Son through exposition of the Holy Eucharist. Amen. Pope St. John Paul II, whose feast is Oct. 22nd, pointed out in his writings one of the things which should be important to us: Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is a priceless treasure and a well-spring of grace. It prolongs and increases the fruits of our communion. It provides an opportunity to express our gratitude and love. What a wonderful gift Jesus has given us by His presence in the St. Mary s Perpetual Adoration Chapel 24/7! Give Him the gift of your presence in the Chapel on a regular basis. Christian Women Join Forces with Hunzinger Corporation To Support Our Military There are bins in the Atrium and back entrance of the church to collect most frequently requested items for our military. These items will be taken to Hunzinger Construction by November 3, where they will be assembled into care packages. Items most needed include personal letters, holiday items, beef jerky, Chex mix, nuts, trail mix, Gatorade powder, Crystal Light on the go, any snack food, after-shave lotion, toothbrushes and paste. 3 3 Postings from Fr. Peter October Devotion: Our Lady of the Rosary During this month of October, the Church turns her attention in a particular way to Our Lady of the Rosary. In last weekend s bulletin we laid out the Rosary and how to pray it, in this weekend s bulletin we are including the Litany of Loreto, one of the litanies which mediates on the various titles given to the Blessed Mother and which can be added to one s praying of the rosary either before the rosary is prayed or after. It is also fitting to pray this Litany whenever we have the opportunity as a way of asking Our Lady for help Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. Christ hear us. Christ graciously hear us. God, the Father of heaven, have mercy on us. God the Son, Redeemer of the world, have mercy on us. God the Holy Spirit, have mercy on us. Holy Trinity, one God, have mercy on us. Holy Mary, pray for us. Respect Life Ministry St. Mary s Respect Life Ministry promotes the culture of life from conception to natural death through prayer, education, formation and service. Through our activities, we provide information on life affirming issues, activities and speakers throughout our community. Volunteers are needed for numerous activities, including the annual Life Chain, Baby Bottle Campaign, Mother s Day Rose Sale, community baby shower, Roe vs. Wade Prayer Vigil and the 40 days for Life Campaign. Student Spotlight Support St. Mary s Visitation Walkers Meet us at the starting line for the Annual Soles for Catholic Education Walk Saturday, October 21, 10am at Mount Mary University as we celebrate and support Catholic education. How I Give of My Time and Talents to SMV: I am on the volleyball, basketball and track teams. I do Quiz Bowl, school choir and I m an altar server. I try hard to be a good student and I am a good friend to others.

Contact Josh for more information, ; or just show up! Visitation Institute Week 3, October 19, 6:30-8pm in the Atrium The Council of Trent and the Age of Saints. Josh Dieterich will present this week on the formal Catholic response to the Reformation and its influence in the subsequent centuries. Josh is the Director of Catholic Formation here at SMV and has his MA in Church History from Catholic Theological Union and is completing a second masters in Catechetics from Franciscan University. He has published three e-books through 23rd Publications and has spoken at a number of conferences, retreats, and trainings all over the country. Fall Book Study Will Be Back Soon! This semester we will be studying St. Catherine of Siena s Dialogue. St. Catherine was a 14th century Dominican mystic, stigmatist, and Doctor of the Church, who often encountered Christ while in ecstatic prayer. Her Dialogue is the fruit of those experiences. The book study runs for six sessions beginning November 2nd from 9-10:45am in the Attic Conference Room. There will also be an evening session available if there is enough interest. Divine Mercy An Important Message for Today! The newly forming Divine Mercy community is made up of three groups of people with varying levels of involvement. Come hear Sister Mary Veronica Fitch talk about this new community and how its prayers, teachings, and acts of mercy are so needed in Milwaukee and the world today. Friends of Life: Baby Bottle Campaign After Mass on Saturday and Sunday, October 14 & 15, our Parish will participate in a Baby Bottle Campaign for the Women s Support Center of Milwaukee. The Women s Support Center is a very busy Catholic, pro-life pregnancy Center on 21st and Wisconsin Avenue serving approximately 150 women a month. All services they offer are 100% free. These services include pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, counseling, baby supplies, teaching Natural Family Planning and much more. They are currently in great need of monetary funding. On the above dates, please take a baby bottle and fill with any type of monetary donation (loose change, dollar bills or checks). The bottles should be returned October 28 & 29.
