Praise the Lord! Catholic FEST began in 2012 to celebrate our 10-year anniversary of Catholic Youth Expeditions. It was so much fun, we decided to keep it around! But THIS YEAR we have decided to give the families what they really want, what you are always asking for, what you have said you loved about Catholic Fest! It will be like our Good Ole' Family Expedition! Throughout this three-day event there will be Mass, formation talks, perpetual adoration, quality family time (free-range kids!), and lots more! We invite you to park a camper, pitch a tent or stay at one of the dozens of nearby resorts in Door County. 3 END OF FISCAL YEAR REMINDER The end of our parish fiscal year is Saturday, June 30th. We are doing Ok, however we currently have a deficit. Can you help us erase our deficit? Donations for your sacrificial giving to be credited by the end of the fiscal year must be at the parish office no later than 10 am Friday, June 29th. Thank you! FAITH FORMATION REGISTRATION & SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION Registration is now in progress for children in grades 1-12 from Catholic Day, Home, and Public Schools and for those preparing for the sacraments of First Confession, First Holy Communion and Confirmation. If a student will be preparing for a Sacrament in 2018 or 2019, he/she must register at this time. The registration form can be downloaded from the parish websites. Thomas More and John Fisher, we remember these saints who were martyred in 1535 for standing up for the sanctity of marriage and the freedom of the Church in opposition to England's King Henry VIII. In our country today, the Church faces challenges to her freedom to serve in healthcare, child welfare services, and education. While we seek to be faithful to Christ by serving our neighbors, ignoring conscience cannot be the condition placed on people of faith for service in the public square. Sts. Thomas More and John Fisher show us what faithful service looks like. They loved and served their country. Yet they rightly recognized that they were being forced to choose between the Church and the king. They were faithful to the Church. 5 FROM OUR PARISH/ BISHOP SACRISTAN Dear Cathedral Parishioners, Many of you already know, but I wanted to inform you that I have resigned as Bishop Sacristan, and my last day is June 30th. I am moving to Chicago and will continue to work for Relevant Radio from the office there. It has truly been an honor and joy serving St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, the Bishop, Fr. Joe, the staff, and all of you over these last two years. The Cathedral has been my spiritual home for the past 23 years, and I will miss this place, but I look forward to serving Our Lord and His Church in Chicago. ~May God bless you! ~Margaret Kleinschmidt, OCDS P.S. I will always be a Packers fan ROSARY IN THE GARDEN Join us on Tuesday evenings at 6:15 pm in the Rosary garden behind Cathedral Church (weather permitting) as we pray and celebrate life at all its stages. Note for Priestly Ordinations on June 30 th The ordinations will remain an open and non-ticketed event, with large areas of reserved seating. The Bishop Wysiclo Center will remain available for overflow. The First priority is to accommodate priests, deacons, and the families and guests of those to be ordained. We want to be especially welcoming to visitors. Seminarian Collection donors, religious men and women, and prospective seminarians remain a priority as well.
