2 Dear Friends, I thank God continuously for placing me here in your presence as together we continue to grow in our call to discipleship. You have been welcoming and patient and for that, I am grateful. Whether you are a founding member or new to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, my hope is that each one of you feels welcomed and valued. This annual report speaks well of our commitment to being good stewards of all God has given us. Through prayer, our liturgies are enlivened and welcoming. Many parishioners have found their niche by sharing in the service and ministries of our parish. Through our generosity, we are able to meet the financial needs of our parish, while at the same time contribute well to our brothers and sisters in need. Many thanks to our staff, to all those who serve on committees and in ministries, and to each one of you as you so beautifully live out the gift of faith you have been given. Together, may we make a difference in our community and world. Sr. Marla Clercx Pastoral Leader Dear Fellow Parishioners I can hardly believe that almost a full year has passed since our November 10, 2016, Parish Leadership and Annual Meeting. And what a truly eventful and rewarding year it has been! I would characterize it as a year of progress and change. Progress as it relates to bringing our vision to life by intentionally creating a parish community where All are Welcomed, Valued and Enriched in Christ. Parish committees, volunteers and staff all worked together to bring each key element of our vision to life. From the beautiful Welcome Desk, the strong Faith Formation programs, the annual SEAS Cares Packages, the great work on our Facebook page and website and don t forget all the hard work behind our fundraising efforts - you made it happen! Thank the Lord that we have such a strong group of truly dedicated, talented and caring people at this wonderful parish. Speaking of progress, you may recall that we used last year s Leadership and Annual Meeting to introduce a breakthrough new program to greatly accelerate our efforts at evangelization. It s Alpha and we launched our first adult Alpha program in the spring of The program was very well received and we are now expanding it - our second adult Alpha program is currently underway this fall. You owe it to yourself to check out Alpha you will not be disappointed. Go to our website, for more great information on this exciting, faith-enriching program. And, yes, this past year was a year of change. We bid farewell to our spiritual leader of the past 7 years Fr. Paul Demuth. We celebrated Fr. Paul s many contributions to SEAS with a wonderful, well-attended sendoff dinner this past June. But it was Fr. Paul s genuine gratitude that left a lasting impression on us all. But as we said farewell to Fr. Paul, we welcomed in true SEAS spirit the appointment of Sr. Marla Clercx as our new Pastoral Leader earlier this summer. We are off to a great start and look forward to her spiritual leadership to help guide us in the years ahead. Mike Curtin Chair, Pastoral Council

3 Pastoral Report 30 New families joined our parish this past year 1,268 Families are currently registered in our parish 18 family households joined our parish in 2016/ individual households joined our parish in 2016/2017 O ur parish continues to work on implementing our Vision: Every person, touched by our parish community, is Welcomed, Valued and Enriched in Christ. Through the visible actions listed throughout this report, we continue to follow in Christ s footsteps. As Catholics, we are called to grow as Disciples and to grow Disciples in Christ. As a community, we work together to expand our individual faith and support those around us in their faith journey. Being comfortable sharing our stories of personal faith and growth is a way to help others take another step towards growing their faith in Christ. Welcomed, Valued and Enriched in Christ The ALPHA program that is being adopted by the diocese was piloted with 26 people. The focus was on equipping people to be more comfortable in sharing their faith story and growing our community. Plans are in place to continue this program in the fall and spring with adults and youth. The Welcome Desk continues to be staffed by members of our committees. Parish life committee members follow up with new parishioners to help them feel welcome. Dignity of Life committee has worked on promoting Catholic Social Teaching through education on immigration issues in our area and how it is effecting the Hispanic community. Our Lenten Discipleship Parish Mission featured Sheila DeLuca, Tony Pichler, and Father Dan Felton speaking on how God has a history of using the insignificant to accomplish the possible. Videos are located on our website. Faith enrichment is growing through youth and adult small groups and classes throughout the year, as well as, vacation bible school which is held in conjunction with the west-side parishes. Faith formation has introduced family night for grades 1-11 which includes focus on discipleship and an opportunity to encounter Jesus Christ. Outreach and communications continue with Facebook posts, website updates, bulletins, and newsletters. Annual evening of fellowship, leadership education and collaboration attended by Council & Committee members. A key objective of our Mission and Vision is to grow as disciples and grow disciples in Christ. God bless all who continue to support our parish through prayer, service and generosity. Utilizing funds from the capital improvement fund and private donations, upgrades were made to our facilities to continue to provide a welcoming environment. These include replacement of the social hall kitchen stove, computer server, stair tread replacement, washer/dryer for the rectory, air conditioning in the main meeting room and a new bubbler. Our operating surplus was moved to our two funds for stabilization and capital improvement. Stabilization Fund: has increased to $135,809 and ensures dollars are on hand to cover unexpected day-to-day operating expenses. Capital Improvement Fund: has grown to $184,148 and ensures major facility repairs are taken care of before they become critical. Challenges While we ended the year with a slight surplus, dollars from Offerings averaged $15,696 a week while Operating Expenses averaged $18,078 a week. This left a weekly gap of $2,383. Dollars received through fundraising and individual donations were used to close the gap. Because fundraising dollars and individual donations are needed to cover day-to-day Operating Expenses, fewer dollars are available to enhance programs such as our youth ministry, re-involvement of our parishioners, and evangelization in our community. If every household currently contributing to the financial well-being of the parish increased their monthly donation by $3.31 a month, Offerings would cover about 90% of our Operating Expenses, and we would have more fundraising dollars available to enhance the ministries and programs that are part of our Weekend Experience. If those who have not contributed financially would begin to do so, the gap would narrow quickly.

Currently, 46% of contributing households give electronically. The predictable nature of electronic giving enables us to develop a budget that ensures the sustainability of current and new programs, services, and ministries. It also enables us to plan for the enhancement of the Weekend Experience in support of our Vision. Faith Direct, our electronic-managed giving service provider, continues to provide a secure and easily accessible website for our parishioners to maintain their support.
