There will be a brief meeting and then classroom visits. First Day of School - Parking Wednesday, August 5th is the first day of school. We would ask that you refrain from parking on St. Louis Place (in front of church/school), Monday- Friday, between 7:30am 8:00am and between 2:45pm 3:15pm, when the buses are dropping off students in the morning and picking them up in the afternoon. Parents are also reminded NOT to drop students off in front of the school. This schedule changes for holidays. 2 2 N e w s & N o t e s Festival Sign-up this Weekend The Festival Committee invites everyone to stop over at school after any of the Masses this weekend, August 1 & 2, to pick up your family s raffle tickets and to sign up to work at this year s festival. Y O U T H N E W S High School Youth Group News Save the Date: August 16th - Messy Games/Water Games St. Louis Mission Team Informational Meeting For anyone in grades 9-12, and parents who would like more information about the Tri-Force Mission Team (St. Anthony, St. Louis and St. Nicholas Parishes) or would like to register for the 2016 trip to Canonsburg, PA, July 10-16, 2016, there will be an informational meeting on August 16th at 4:00pm in the St. Louis School cafeteria. There will also be an informational meeting for the Mission team that same day at St. Nicholas at 12:00pm, and St. Anthony at 2:00pm. All registrations must be turned in by September 30, Forms are available at the parish office or on the parish website. All Are Invited! Baptism Preparation Class The Baptism preparation class is for parents who are having their first child Baptized. The next class will be offered on Tuesday, August 18th at 7:00pm in the Prickel Building. NFP Class A Natural Family Planning Class will be held on Sunday, September 6th, from 9:00am to 12:15pm in the St. Louis Parish Office, 2nd floor. There is a $40.00 fee for books and materials. 4 6 F a i t h F o r m a t i o n W h a t s H a p p e n i n g Religious Ed begins August 12th All children in grades 1 through 12 should be in a formal religion class as part of their lifelong faith formation process. Classes are offered on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:45 pm during the school year. All parents and children should plan to attend the Back to Religious Ed Night on August 12 at 6:30 in the cafeteria. Registration forms and fees are due by August 12. No child is turned away from Religious Ed classes because of financial difficulties. Registration forms are in the back of church and the parish office. Forms can also be found on the parish website by clicking the Commissions tab and selecting Faith Formation. Look for the Religious Ed link on the left side. Please contact Amy Tonges at or atonges@st.louisschool.org with questions or concerns. Assistants Needed are you being called? We have openings for Catechists and assistants. If you feel called to make a difference with our youth, please contact Amy Tonges at or atonges@st.louisschool.org to discuss the possibilities. Wednesday Evening Hispanic Ministry The Hispanic Rosary and Bible Study program begins Wednesday, August 19. It follows the same schedule as the Religious Ed program and meets from 6:30-7:45pm. All are welcome. Need Prayer? Prayer needs are addressed in two ways at St. Louis. In the vestibule of church is a Prayer Request Notebook where anyone, at any time, can write prayer concerns. The Members of the Prayer and Praise Ministry commit to praying daily for these intentions. For more urgent prayer needs (illness, surgery, etc.) there is a Prayer Chain that will get dozens of people praying immediately. To begin the Prayer Chain, please call one of the following: Janice Werner, ; Erma Hartman, ; or Viola Fullenkamp, Ministry of Prayer and Praise Intentions for August For all those going back to school this month, especially for those beginning a new phase in their educational career. For the teachers and administrators of schools that they may be guided by the Holy Spirit in all they do, particularly as they pass on the moral teaching of the Church. For those who are out of work, that they may be spared any discouragement and that they may quickly find satisfying employment. For a weather pattern that will be beneficial to the farmers of the area. Thinking of Becoming Catholic? If you are thinking about becoming Catholic, then the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults program (RCIA) is for you. RCIA teaches people about our church and prepares them to become Catholic, if they wish. God often speaks to people through others especially their relatives and friends. Do you have a friend or relative who would like to learn more about God and about your Catholic faith? The program will begin in September, so now is the time to invite the people you care about to learn what it s like to be Catholic. Make young adults feel welcomed and invited Help them form relationships with parishioners and the Church Invite young adults to volunteer time, talent and treasure We will bring to you a panel of young adults who want to share their enthusiasm for their faith. Our hope is that you will bring someone of the younger generation (born after 1965)with you as their insights will help define the conversation.
