As Roman Catholics, the Holy Eucharist is the center of our lives, and the source or our mission. The Plant Stand has a variety of plants and the Country Store has baked goods as well as craft items. Attention Adoration Chapel Adorers Adorers who will be visiting the Adoration Chapel Monday, September 19th, between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm are asked to not park in front of the parish office/adoration Chapel. Until the tents are taken down, St. Louis Place between Walnut Street and Main Street will be blocked off so that the students can use the area for their recess. St. Louis Youth News High School Youth Group Messy Games September 25, Come for Pizza at 6:00 pm in the Cafeteria and stay for messy games in the Old Gym from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. Anyone in high school welcome! Bring your friends and a snack or drink to share. Mission Trip - Anyone planning to attend the youth mission trip to Newark Valley, NY next summer should have a registration form turned in by September 30th. The first mission team meeting is scheduled for September 25th at 4:30pm in the St. Louis School cafeteria. Stay for pizza after the meeting! St. Louis School Uniform Exchange Dates The uniform exchange is located upstairs in the St. Louis Preschool Building. Baptism Preparation Class The Baptism preparation class is for parents who are having their first child Baptized. Please call the parish office to register Natural Family Planning A Natural Family Planning Class will be held on Sunday, October 2nd, from 9:00am to 12:15pm in the Prickel Building. Saturday, October 22nd will be St. Louis Church's day to participate in the 40 Days for Life campaign at Planned Parenthood in Cincinnati. Signups will be at the beginning of October. More information call Maureen Harpring St. Louis Adoration Chapel We would like to thank all of our scheduled adorers as well as those who come and spend time in our Chapel. We are very lucky to have Eucharistic Adoration 24 hours a day, seven days a week! The open hours that need a scheduled Adorer are: Thursday 1:00am, 2:00am. Come & See Vocation Retreats The Sisters of St. Benedict Come & See Vocation Retreats will take place October 21-23, 2016; March 31-April 2, 2017 and July 13-16, These retreats give young women the opportunity to spend a weekend with the Sisters and experience the Benedictine life of prayer, community, work, and hospitality. In addition, there are also two on-line retreats, December 4-8, 2016 and March 5-9, These are great opportunities to experience Benedictine spirituality with time for Advent or Lenten reflection. Batesville Deanery Resource Center We have new resources! Stop in or check our website for anything relating to the Church. We have over 1,000 CD s, movies, study programs, and books for all ages. Just before the Gospel reading, the celebrant leads us in the GOSPEL CROSS gesture with our thumbs making the sign of the cross on our foreheads, lips and hearts. The cross itself is always a sign of our redemption, an outward act to profess our inward faith in the Trinity, and declares that, through our baptism, we belong to God. As early as the ninth century, the faithful were making the sign of the cross on their forehead and breast at the reading of the Gospel. Then, in the 11th century, we find the deacon and the faithful making the sign of the cross on the forehead, mouth, and breast after the words "A reading of the holy gospel..." The meaning is this: For the word which Christ brought and which is set down in this book we are willing to stand up with a mind that is open, we are ready to confess it with our mouth, and above all we are determined to safeguard it faithfully in our hearts. In the General Instruction of the Roman Missal(GIRM), everyone is instructed to do this So, as we sign our forehead, lips and heart with the Cross of Christ, let us pray: May the Word of the Lord be in my mind, on my lips and in my heart.
