2 2 N e w s & N o t e s St. Louis PTO Needs Your Help The St. Louis PTO is starting to organize Enrichment classes for the Spring. We are looking for volunteers to share their talents with the students. The classes meet once or twice a week for minutes after school for two or three weeks in mid February to mid March. Some current ideas include: Chess, Sewing, Book Club, Crafting, Zumba, Jump Rope, and Scrapbooking. If you would be willing to teach one of these skills, or if you have another skill you would be willing to share, please contact Jenny Schebler at rjschebler@aol.com or Wende Lambert at lamberts@etczone.com. Haiti Ministry - Soap and Shoe Drive The Saint Louis Haiti Ministry team will be having a soap and shoe drive for our sister parish, Saint Francis Xavier in Gandou, Haiti on the weekends of February 18 & 19 and 25 & 26. We will be collecting bar soap only. No liquid soap please because it does not ship well. The shoes we need our gently used walking shoes and tennis shoes for men, women, and children. These people live in the mountains with no sidewalks, and just dirt and rocky trails and roads. Please no winter boots because there is no snow. Thanks in advance for your generosity. Knights of Columbus Pro-Life Bowl & Spaghetti Dinner The 29th Annual Pro-Life Scotch Doubles Bowl and Spaghetti Dinner will be held th. Bowling shifts are 12:30pm and 2:30pm at East Bowl. Spaghetti Dinner starts at 4:00pm at the Knights of Columbus. Cost is $24.00 for two which includes bowling and dinner. Dinner only is free will offering, but please call so we will have a count. Adoration Chapel News The Adoration Chapel will be closed for three days beginning Monday, February 13th at 7:00am and will reopen on Wednesday, February 15th at 7:00pm, so that some updating may be completed. The carpet, chair, and kneeler coverings will be replaced and some touch up painting will be done on the altar. Baptism Preparation Class The Baptism preparation class is for parents who are having their first child Baptized. The next class will be offered on Tuesday, February 21st at 7:00pm in the Deanery Resource Center at St. Louis. Please call the parish office to register Natural Family Planning A Natural Family Planning Class will be held on Sunday, March 5th, from 9:00am to 12:15pm in the Deanery Resource Center at St. Louis. Fight the Fight - Spiritual Combat St. Charles Parish in Milan will host a parish mission: Fight the Fight - Spiritual Combat - presented by Fr. Jim Costigan, CPM beginning Sunday, February 19th through Thursday, February 23rd at 7:00pm each night. There will also be Adoration at 6:00pm each night. Hospice Volunteers Needed Southern Care Hospice is looking for volunteers to provide friendly visits to hospice patients and their families in their homes and nursing homes. They are also in need of administrative/office volunteers to answer phones, help with mailings, etc. There will be a training session on Saturday, February 25th from 9:00am 4:00pm. All training is provided at no cost. A one year commitment is required, volunteering a minimum of 2-3 hours per month. For more information contact Tim Heller Adoration Chapel Opening March 1st Please pray for All Saints Parish in Dearborn County who will be opening the 13th Perpetual Adoration Chapel in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis on Ash Wednesday, March 1st. GriefShares All Saints Parish Bereavement Ministry will present GriefShares, a 13 week program every Monday, beginning Monday, March 6th from 6:45pm 9:00pm. They will meet on March 6, 13, 20, 27; April 3, 10, 17, 24; May 1, 8, 15, 22. Please call the All Saints Parish Office at to register. We will have books to order so early registration is appreciated. We encourage you to repeat the session up to 3 times if you feel the need. It is also encouraged that you come to all sessions but if you miss some it s OK and if someone wants to join after we start, you are always welcome. This is a free program for participants, paid for by the All Saints Ladies Sodality through their various fundraisers throughout the year. Retrouvaille: Help for Hurting Marriages Retrouvaille is a not spiritual retreat, sensitivity group, seminar, or social gathering. Retrouvaille is a worldwide program that teaches couples how rediscover each other and work through difficult times in their marriages. This program offers an opportunity for you and your spouse to work privately on your marriage. During the weekend phase of Retrouvaille, a series of presentations are given by a team of three couples and a priest. The team presents a technique of communication that enables you to take a good look at most areas of your relationship. After each presentation you have time in the privacy of your room to dialog about concepts from the presentation.
