Sherry has been living in Uganda, East Africa since Born and raised in Indianapolis, she was a teacher and principal at Archdiocesan Catholic schools, including St. Roch, St. Christopher in Speedway and Roncalli High School. Currently, she is one of the managers of a diocesan Catholic radio station with millions of listeners in northern Uganda. Bereavement Committee Update The Bereavement Committee has been blessed with two new volunteers to help with the funeral luncheons. Religious Ed begins August 16th All children in grades 1 through 12 should be in a formal religion class as part of their lifelong faith formation process. Classes are offered on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:45 pm during the school year. All parents and children should plan to attend the Back to Religious Ed Night on August 16 at 6:30pm. The Great Adventure Bible Timeline Study Group Fridays, starting August 11th from 9:00 10:30am An evening class will be added if there is enough interest. Jeff Cavins developed The Great Adventure to enable people to grasp the big picture of the Bible. By reading the narrative books, a chronological story emerges. The Bible Timeline program teaches the story in a way that is easy to remember and helps people to continue reading Scripture on their own. Come join us as we discover the big picture of God s plan in Scripture, see our place in that plan and live it out in our lives. To register please call the Parish Office at RCIA Program The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process we use to teach the basics of Catholicism to people of other faith traditions who want to learn more about the Catholic Church. We welcome people of all backgrounds: People who have never been active in any church, Protestants who want to learn about Catholicism, Baptized Catholics who have never been brought up in the faith, Catholics who have never been confirmed, Catholics feeling the need to learn more about the faith, Parents who are not Catholic but have children attending our School Our sessions will begin in September and are held on Sunday mornings. This traveling exhibit will be at the festivals (St. Martin, Yorkville- July 29th & 30th, St. Paul, New Alsace - August 12th & 13th) Saturdays 5:00pm -9:00pm and Sundays 11:00am- 6:00pm. Entrance to the exhibit is FREE to the general public. All are welcome! A Lifeline for Hurting Marriages Retrouvaille helps couples through difficult times in their marriages. It is designed to provide the tools to help get your marriage back on track. It will give you the opportunity to rediscover each other and examine your lives together in a new and positive way. Festival Sign-up Weekends All parishioners are asked to stop over in the school cafeteria after any of the Masses this weekend, July 29 & 30, to pick up your family s raffle tickets and to sign up to work at this year s festival. As always, we need a large number of people to volunteer to make this day a success. Please don t wait for us to call you. Signing up after Mass will only take a few moments of your time but is a tremendous help to those who are involved in the planning of the festival. PLEASE come pick up your raffle tickets and sign up to work. This will save time and money. Also, pray for good weather and a successful festival. Thank you in advance for your support of this parish activity. Tent Help Needed We are in need of help to set up the tents Tuesday, September 12th and take them down on Monday, September 18th. It is not something a few people can do, many people are needed to get this accomplished. Please consider helping with this important task. Chairpersons Needed We are in need of volunteers to chair the $100 Wheel and Bingo. If you can help with either of these games, please call Nikki Hutchinson at Country Store The Country Store will be in need of your donations of jellies, pickles, beets, salsa, or any other home canned goods you might have. If you don t make jelly or can vegetables, maybe you can bake some cookies, fudge, bread, pastries, cakes or pies. If you sew, think about making aprons, potholders, coasters, etc. If you crochet or knit, maybe consider making doilies, scarves, small lap blankets. If by chance you happen to have extra fresh garden produce, please consider donating it to the Country Store. Jars for Turtle Soup Clean, quart, half gallon and gallon jars may be dropped off on the front porch of the parish office. Jars that are not true quart, half gallon and gallon size, cannot be used for turtle soup. Please help by removing the labels and glue from the outside of the jars. Bushels of Baskets As we begin to arrange baskets we are in need of many items. Some ideas for themed baskets: cleaning supplies; all things kitchen; gift wrap; laundry supplies; party/tailgate; family movie night; car wash; beach party; handyman basket; all things candles. We ask that your donations be new or hand-made items only. Cash donations are welcome as we will use this to purchase themed items and basket supplies. Items can dropped off at the parish office. Graced A Retreat for Girls All Saints Parish invites all girls, grades 6-12 to our 4th annual retreat, Saturday, August 19th at the Yorkville Campus. Sign-in begins at 11:30am; catered dinner at 12:00pm; talks on chastity, prayer, living God s call, and concludes with Mass at 5:30pm. Come and experience the beauty of womanhood, expressed in the religious life. There will be Sisters from the Franciscan Daughters of Mary; Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration; Sisters of St. Joseph the Worker, and Passionist Nuns. This is a free event, but please bring an item to donate to the Rose Garden Missions Prolife Center (personal hygiene, baby care item, or monetary donation).
