1 5756 Zachary Taylor Highway Mineral, Virginia (540) (phone) (540) (fax) Volume 34, Issue 8 - August 3, 2014 Eternal Life Pastor Lynn W. Beanum, Jr. reetings in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ, our savior and soon-coming King. Truly, in these troubling times we need to be thinking more of where we will spend eternity. Will it be eternal life or eternal death? Eternal life is a phrase which appears several times in the NT (KJV), of which 15 uses occur in the Gospel and the epistles of John, and 25 occurrences in the Johannine writings. These writings are defined as of or pertaining to the apostle John or to the books in the New Testament attributed to him. The word eternal (aionios) is derived from the word meaning "age" an indefinite period of time, hence, agelong, and consequently unending. Eternal life refers invariably to the life of God, or to the future state of the righteous (Matt. 25:46). The Johannine writings define eternal life in terms of knowing, making it synonymous with the experience of God (John 17:3). It cannot be earned by men, but it is bestowed upon them as a gift in response to faith (John 3:15-16; 1 John 5:11 & Rom. 6:23). Eternal life is the vitality which God imparts to the human soul at the moment of personal conversion to Christ. Eternal life is mediated through Christ (1 John 5:11) and represents the totality of the Christian experience in its vitality, its duration, its quality, and in its association and content. It enables the believer to enter directly into the presence of God at death and enjoy the eternal bliss of heaven. Its opposite is eternal death or severance from God (2 Thess. 1:9). We get or receive eternal life by God the Father himself through his Son, Jesus Christ. Eternal life requires entering into a personal relationship with God in Jesus Christ as we admit our sin and turn away from it, allowing His Spirit to live in us by the Holy Ghost. Amen to our God. Verse for the Month: But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. -Romans 6:22

2 A Word from Our Editor Determined Per dictionary.com Determined is defined as: to come to a decision or resolution; decide. I greet you in the name of Jesus Christ. In order to survive we must be determined to go through the storms of life, the tests of time, and the floods of trouble that the enemy cascades over us. Satan s goal is to drown our dreams and hopes. However, to be determined expresses a greater vision than what we can see with the natural eye. When we are determined we must see and don t see, hear and don t hear all of the troubles and distractions that come to drag us off course. Our greater focus or determination must be firmly anchored in the Lord. The winds can t stop us, the rains can t blind us, and the quakes can t shake us off course when we are firmly planted in Christ. Beloved, think it not strange A Word From Our Elders Sister Marilyn Silver concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you: But rejoice (1 Peter 12-13a). God has us covered. Don t ever stop trusting in Him, and don t you dare give up! But stay focused and be determined to run this race with patience. God has NOT forgotten about you! I am determined to hold out to the end, Jesus is with me, on Him I can depend; I know I have salvation, I can feel it in my soul; I am determined to hold out to the end. -Lyrics by Chetwind S. & TP Hamilton. Determined to see Jesus in peace! God bless you. Minister Torrey Miller Hope In God Greetings Saints, grace and peace be upon you. We are the children of the Most High God and consequently have been made to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. I am writing today to simply remind you of that fact, so your hope will be renewed. Hope is the general feeling that some desire will be fulfilled. Therefore, when we have it, we look unto our heavenly father with expectation to receive from Him what we are believing for. However, in these evil days in which we live, our adversary (Satan) is relentless in his attacks against God s Church. As a result, it appears that many born again, blood washed believers are gradually losing hope. I understand that the pressures of life oftentimes seem a bit overwhelming, and it sometimes feels as if God has abandoned us. Actually, there was a man (David) in the Bible who perhaps felt the same way at a particular time in his life. Life s woes and hardships seemingly were getting the best of him, when all of a sudden he reasoned within himself. David s question to himself is found in Psalm 42:5 which states, Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. Although life may be challenging and seemingly unfair at times, let s take note from our forefather David and command our soul to hope in God. God sees, knows, and He cares about us. Whatever He has promised, know that He is well able to perform. For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen,... (2 Cor. 1:20) Wait for the promise to manifest! In other words, keep hope alive! Keep Christ within, as the apostle Paul states, Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). Hope in God. Page 2 Temple of Deliverance, HCG, Inc. Newsletter

3 Temple Men Speak We Have a Right to Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord and glory to our Savior Jesus Christ. We as the Body of Christ and people of this United States of America are so blessed to live in a country where we can freely exercise our faith i n G o d. T h e f i r s t amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees our right to freedom of religion. This amendment prohibits the making of any law, impeding the free exercise of religion (U.S. Constitution). We have a right to praise the Lord! We can come into His house and gather in Jesus name and worship Him! Although the first amendment allows us to freely exercise our faith in God it was first through Jesus precious blood that we were freed from sin. Because of Jesus we have a new way of life and not a religion. Because of Jesus we can now worship Him as He is. God is spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). However in countries such as Iran and Sudan practicing the Christian faith is considered a crime of apostasy which is the abandonment or renunciation of a religion by a person (wikipedia) and is punishable by death. Meriam Yeyha Ibrahim, a Sudanese Christian Temple Women Speak -Bro. Travis Lucas wife and mother was imprisoned because she would not renounce her Christian faith. She stated that she was raised as a Christian. Meriam, who was 8 months pregnant at the time, was held in prison with her 18 month old son. This reminds us of the serious times in which we are living, and that Jesus is soon to come. It reminds us of what Jesus told his disciples, Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated (Mathew 24:9), But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogue, and into the prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name s sake (Luke 21:12). Saints, let us consider our spouses, mothers, aunts, sisters, daughters, and ourselves as we continue to pray for God s covering, grace, mercy and safety of Meriam Yeyha Ibrahim. Thank God for her recent safe deliverance that united her with her family. You Lord are the same God that delivered Daniel and the three Hebrew boys! Let us continue to pray for Meriam s family and the Body of Christ as a whole. Lord help us to consider Hebrews 12:3-4 and 2 Corinthians 4:17. Thank you Jesus for allowing us to come boldly before your throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). Lord let us not take the freedom and liberty you have provided us for granted. Thank you Jesus for the right to worship and praise you! God Bless you saints in Jesus name! Sister Janet Parker God s Restoring Power When the unsuspected comes, you wonder how you are going to make it, and you see no way out; trust in the Lord. He sees your hurt and pain. I have had my days too, but the Lord took me through. I called on His great name and through it all there came peace, joy and strength. God will do the same for you. Psalm 136:12 says, With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth for ever. Through the power and presence of God we have the ability to recover from our difficulties of this life. We can rise above them, overcome and move forward with courage. There is no pain in the world that the indwelling spirit can not reach and heal. Daniel 6:26-27 (kjv) states, for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end. He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions. You can trust in God s Restoring Power. God bless you. 6 Bible Word Search: New Life Contributed by : Glenn Girton Submitted by Mother Ruby Beanum ( All the words listed below are in the puzzle - left, right, up, down or diagonal. Topic for Today: Prayer Trouble and perplexity drive me to prayer and prayer drives away perplexity and trouble. - Philipp Melanchthon Temple Youth Speak Be Wise Graduates A little advice for our graduates. Graduation has come and gone for many high school students. I know there is much excitement and anticipation of what s next. Graduates will be receiving much more independence, as well as responsibility. But I would advise you to be wise with your freedom. Freedom is like being in an ocean ready to take a swim but if you re not prepared, you might drown. Be wise! Get involved in a church, connect with good people and don t forget the training you received from your parents and other extended family. Most importantly, if you don t know God as your personal Savior, seek Him until you find Him. Jer. 29:13 says And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Eccl. 12:1 says, Remember now thy Creator in By: Karen Williams the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them. Just know the real fun begins when you accept Jesus into your life. Page 6 Temple of Deliverance, HCG, Inc. Newsletter

9 Caregiver Attitude Check -Dr. Tom Frommer -Excerpts of Article from: It is time for an attitude check. What am I talking about? Well, how is your attitude about being a caregiver? Attitude definition: A complex mental state involving beliefs, feelings, values and dispositions to act in a certain way. How does a Christian caregiver do an attitude check? Let's look at Paul's words. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Rom. 8:28. May I suggest we focus on the word CALL in these words. You are CALLED! This is such an important word for Christian caregivers to acknowledge. You are not a victim. You are not being punished. You are called. It is so helpful to see your caregiving role as a Christian calling because it changes everything. It changes your attitude. It changes your approach. God has called you. Think about that. I know you didn t ask for it. Neither did Jonah, Peter, Paul. Jesus words to Follow Me means Jesus has a direction he wants us to go in our lives. We are called to be servants and you are called to be a servant in a specific circumstance. Jesus s promises to us in the end of Matthew s gospel are the words, I will be with you always, even to the end of the age. Jesus has called you to be a caregiver. He promises to be with you. We are called according to His purposes and he will reveal those purposes more completely over time. We may not understand His purposes at this time, but scripture says God works for the good. I have been reading a number of books about the stories of caregivers. Yes, it is hard and sometimes very hard. However, the stories are about the blessings and learnings these caregivers received. He will bless you and you will learn much. Being called by God also means God has a stake in your caregiving and God will provide. I don t know how He will do it or when He will do it, but I believe He will do it. He promises to do it. He can do it. You are connected to the right source. There is a condition. The scripture says, to those who love Him. This love is not a feeling, this love is an action. We love God by talking to Him, by worshipping Him, by praising Him and by blessing Him. As the hymn writer learned to love God by writing, Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me, bless His Holy name. Even secular research has discovered that attitude is important in caregivers. So how is your attitude? Allow your faith to draw your attitude closer to the mind of Christ in your Christian caregiving.
