1 Broadview Missionary Baptist Church BMBC FAMILY WEEK Submitted by the Family Week Committee September K The 2016 Family Week theme is, Now is the Time to Prosper: Encouraging Spiritual and Physical Family Health. Scripture reference comes from 3 John 1:1-2, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. Broadview Missionary Baptist Church (BMBC) is hosting a Family Prayer, 5K Walk/Run and Health Fair on Saturday, September 17, 2016, as part of our annual Family Week. The Family Prayer will be held in BMBC Fellowship Hall at 7:00 a.m. The 5K Walk/Run will be held at Pioneer Park in Broadview IL starting at 8:00 a.m. You can register for the 5K at broadviewmissionaryfriendsfamily5kwalkrun.itsyourrace.com. The Health Fair will be held in the Fellowship Hall from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The purpose of the Health fair is to provide attendees with information about local services that support healthy living, good nutrition, and exercise. Attendees will also receive information about opportunities for families to serve God through missions and outreach. This is the perfect opportunity to invite your family, friends, neighbors and co workers who may have left the church. to try church again. The message will inspire us to take the next step in our faith journey, no matter where we are in life. You don t want to miss Family Day and National Back to Church Sunday. 2 MISSION PROJECT: SEWING FOR AFRICA Submitted by Sis. Yvette Brady The Adult Sunday School Class #2A, in room U211, (teachers Denise Leaks, Larry Tolbert, and Bill Ward) is calling all youth and adults to join us for sewing and fellowship. We are sewing for Africa! We fashion dresses and shorts from new or used pillow cases, and fabric remnants, (see photos below). Once they are completed, they are shipped to specific locations in Africa. Materials, and instructions on how to make them are provided. Bring your sewing machine and supplies, if you like, or just simply bring yourself. The next scheduled date is Monday, September 19, Feel free to invite family, friends, and co workers. Page 2

Larry Lee BMBC s Prison/Jail Ministry introduces its two new publications: the Prison/ Jail Ministry Manual and Brochure. Written and edited by Sister Alfreda Woods, Mission Prayer Support Coordinator and Prison/Jail Ministry member, the manual outlines the mission and history of the Prison/Jail Ministry. The manual was designed to assist you in navigating through the ins and outs of the Prison/Jail Ministry. It also helps to shine the light on the gospel behind the dark walls of prison. The Manual is available for your review in our church library. The BMBC Prison/Jail Ministry informational brochure describes the Mission, Outreach and Evangelism goals of the ministry, and is located in the literature bin near the Nursery. The following individuals were fellowshipped into the Broadview family during the month of August. Please make them feel welcome; watch over them in the spirit of brotherly love and encourage them to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior. 4 FAMILY, FELLOWSHIP FOOD AND FUN: ANNUAL CHURCH PICNIC Submitted by Dea. David Bush A culminating activity after two weeks of Vacation Bible School was BMBC s annual church picnic on Saturday, August 13. This was a celebration of family, fellowship, food, and fun, (see photos below and on page 5). Congratulations to Sis. Tamyra Bell for winning the Youth Bake Off with her Strawberry and Grape Thumb Print Cookies. Thanks to all our cooks, servers, game coordinators, and the nursing staff! Your regular participation makes this event a success each and every year. A special thanks to all who showed up early and stayed late for set up and clean up. The picnic could not have been a success without you. Page 4

6 GOD AND MODERN MONEY Submitted by Strategic Plan Finance Committee In our Sunday School lessons, we have been studying, Re-Finance: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Money. The topics in this unit are designed to give Christians biblical insight on earning, managing, investing, and giving money. In keeping with the Strategic Planning Finance Committee plan, these lessons help our membership begin or continue to be faithful stewards over their finances. Through the word of God and testimonials, our plan is to encourage our members, to give regularly and cheerfully to the church, and to learn the importance of good stewardship. We believe that if our membership commits to being more financially responsible, the church will benefit in many ways, such as: Increase in Tithes and Offering Early repayment of our current mortgage, ($3,331,410) Reduce or eliminate expenses Give more toward missions The Strategic Planning Committee is also researching new and convenient methods for submitting tithes and offerings. Currently, members can place their tithes and/or offering in an envelope at church, or go to and click on the donate button to make their offering online. The Finance Committee would like to thank each member for faithfully giving to support Broadview Missionary Baptist Church. If anyone would like to join this committee, please see one of the committee members listed below. Remember giving is a form of worship. And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men, Colossians 3:23 KJV.
