Beanum, Jr. reetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, our captain and soon-coming King. We will never be able to thank God enough for his greatness exhibited as we look toward Easter/ Passover the day we celebrate the death of our Lord. At Calvary, Christ was crucified and buried, but arose on the third day. Until then sin had us in slavery, but was abolished by Him. Jesus Christ is the inevitable point of reference. Even so brief and personal a witting as Philemon owes his inspiration to the Son of God who came to make men free. The Gospels picture Him in the flesh; the Epistles present Him in the Spirit, The Acts of the Apostles depicts the victories of grace in the extension of the Church; the Revelations set forth the triumph of the glory though His personal presence once more in history. His influence upon us the saints is so radical and comprehensive, that nothing can describe it better than the assertion that Christ is in our life. We are not truly living until we come to know Him by faith. When we allow Him to come into our hearts, He creates a new point of reference and new set of values. O what a wonderful Christian All praises to our great, wonderful God, for He arose, ascended... experience, like he made happen to Saul of Tarsus. He's risen, thanks be to God He's risen. It's inevitable that sinners can have one touch and never be the same afterward. Because God is the light of the world, when men stand in that light, then turn from it, they walk in deeper darkness and are without hope. Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, Mary Magdalene and others came to the sepulchre with spices prepared. Finding the stone rolled away, they were perplexed; behold, two men stood by in shinning garments and they were afraid and bowed down their faces to the earth. They asked them, why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, saying, the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered his words (Luke 24:2). ll praises to our great, wonderful God, for He arose, ascended, then descended on the day of Pentecost as He promised, and is very much alive today in the hearts of men desiring to be filled with His Spirit and awaiting the rapture. The trumpet might sound at any time now, so let s be ready to be caught up with the Lord...Amen. Amen. Amen. Verse for the Month If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Easter: It s All About Me! Submitted by Sister Deborah Adams, Editor ear Friends, When I was a child, our family celebrations of Easter were all about me. I loved Easter because I always had a new outfit to wear to church on Easter Sunday, socks with fancy lace around them, new shoes, and even a hat. My last hat my parents gave me was white with blue ribbons draped down the back. This hat had an elastic cord around it to keep it from falling off my head. We colored eggs for our big egg hunt, and there would be boiled eggs and chocolate candy for us all. We could hardly wait to tear into those marshmallow peeps and jelly beans. Yes, indeed. When I was younger, Easter was all about me: my clothes, my goodies, my fun day. As I have grown older, I have realized that Easter is still all about me. Easter is actually celebrated as a time to give thanks and honor to Jesus for His death on the cross for ME! He lived in our sinful world for ME. He died at the hands of hateful people for ME. He defeated death for ME. Oh, how I love Jesus, because He first loved ME. Yes, Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Oh, how He loves you and me. Jesus went to Calvary to save a wretch like you and me. Yes, Easter is all about ME. Perhaps I should give Him more thanks and praise for thinking of ME during this Easter season. He is certainly AWESOME! Even when He was dying on the cross, He was thinking of ME! Oh what love! Easter really is all about ME. He loves to see me smile, laugh and enjoy my treats. But I believe He loves it even more when I show my gratefulness for His sacrifice for ME! Jesus paid it all. All to Him I owe. Sin had left her crimson stain, but He washes ME white as snow! Thank You Jesus! A Surprise At Sunrise by Elder Donnell Comfort, Sr. A Word From Our Elders Mr. Webster defines the word "surprise" as being someone or something that causes amazement or astonishment. It is an event or happening that is unexpected and unanticipated. Life is full of surprises: that surprise birthday party, that surprise gift, that surprise promotion, that surprise demotion, etc. The word of the LORD lets us know that Our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ was one who was full of surprises. When Joseph And Mary found Jesus in the temple at the age of 12 asking questions of the religious leaders, it was a surprise. When there arose a great storm in the midst of the sea and Jesus said, "peace be still" and the wind and the waves obeyed his voice, it was a surprise. When Jesus healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, and caused the lame to rise up and walk, it was a surprise. When Jesus took five loaves of bread and two pieces of fish and fed 5000 men, not counting the women and the children, it was a surprise. But the greatest surprise of all took place three days after his crucifixion. It was his resurrection. The greatest surprise of all was when he got up early one Sunday morning. The greatest surprise of all was when he kept his word and fulfilled his prophecy: "Destroy this temple but in three days I will raise it up again." The greatest surprise of all was when he defeated death and conquered the grave: "O death, where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory?" "He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, saying, the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered his words, and returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest" (Luke 24: 6-9). We rejoice and celebrate not just Easter Sunday but each and every day of the year, because we know that HE LIVES and because HE LIVES, we shall live also. It was a surprise at sunrise!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4 I Have Redeemed Thee By Deacon Steve Robinson Greetings in the name of the Lord, that I AM that I AM. That name is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We respect the name of Jesus because it is the highest name in which we can possibly think of in this entire world. The Word says that every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that He is the Lord to the glory of the Father. We thank God for this opportunity to share with you these words of wisdom that God has shared with us. According to Isaiah 43:1, But now thus says the Lord that created thee O Jacob and he that formed thee, O Israel, fear not, for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name, thou art mine. Jesus says that He has paid the ransom for every one of us that have received His spirit. When thou passest through the waters I will be with thee, and through the rivers they shall not overflow thee, when thou walkest through the fire, thou shall not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. Jesus is telling us to fear not. Look at what he did for the children that passed through the Red Sea and the three Hebrew boys and the fiery furnace. He has done and will do the same for you and me. Look up and go through. No matter what you re going through, God is right here to carry us through. Be encouraged. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ! HE is not here: for He is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay (Matt. 28:6). The Resurrection gives our lives meaning, direction, and the opportunity to start over no matter what the circumstance. If we trust in Jesus for the outcome, everything will be alright. John 14:16 By Sister Sandra Wesley states, And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you a Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever. Hebrews 13:5 lets us know that God will never leave us nor forsake us. Happy Resurrection Day to all, and may God continue to bless you. God is Always There By Sister Iris Silver There is no greater love than the love God continues to show for us. He gave His Son so that we may have life and have it more abundantly. Our actions sometimes show that we don t appreciate the things He s done. We all find the time for shopping, taking road trips, or just hanging out. But when it s time to do the work of the Lord, there seems not to be enough time in the day. For some reason, Sunday Page 4 morning is the best day to sleep in for some. We drag into church whenever we get ready, like we are just ungrateful. If we did our jobs like we did God, we d get fired. Can you imagine what it would be like if it wasn t for His grace and mercy? What if He would fire us and let someone else have our spot? I don t know about anyone else, but I don t want to be caught with my work undone. Only what we do for Christ will last. Let s all tighten up and not just talk about doing better, but actually do better. No man knows the day nor the hour that the Son of Man cometh (Matthew 25:13). Time is drawing nigh. 6 Hurt by the One You Care For? Forbearing one another and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. (Colossians 3:13 NIV) Have you ever been asked to care for someone who has offended or hurt you? Perhaps this person is incapacitated and desperately needs you. What would you do? Won t this situation stir up old feelings of hurt and anger? Would you be afraid to open old wounds? If you are facing a situation where you have to provide care for someone who has hurt you in the past, it is important to wipe the slate clean. You can no longer keep a record of all the wrong things this person did. Sometimes we pull out all those old files and relive the past over and over again. Instead of doing this, take these grievances to the Lord. Our Father knows how to deal with our complaints and help us move forward. As we release these issues, He will give us the capacity to get along with that person. We can bear with them. To bear with them means that we carry burdens - together. Forgiveness is necessary. God can help us with that. The key here is to release the old baggage and then move forward. If you are having trouble getting along with someone today because of issues from the past, give it over to God. Or if you feel you have not forgiven someone who you took care of in the past, it s time now to get release and give it over to God. If you are still harboring feelings and are not sure you have forgiven, perhaps it is time to sit down with a confidant and clear your heart and mind. Then you can give and receive the true forgiveness that God wants us to have. My Prayer: Heavenly Father, I must confess. This one is hard for me. I am having a hard time with this issue. This is a person who hurt me deeply. No one else knows all the pain I have endured. But Lord, I give the hurt, this situation, to You. Help me to forgive, and then show me how I can bear with this person in love, forgiving as You forgave me. 7 It is Finished: John 19:25-42 KJV Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother and his mother s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw his mother and the disciple standing by, whom he loved he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home. After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
