Let's celebrate the Lord's birth, not only at Christmas but all year through, giving ourselves as a gift to God in service to others; also remember to give to those that are in need, and not expecting a gift in return - giving as unto the Lord. May God bless you and yours with a wonderful Christmas. Amen. Verse For the Month: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
2 Wise Men Still Seek Jesus Matthew 2:1-2 (KJV) 1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. During this holiday season we find dads and moms, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles all searching for gifts and treats to satisfy those on their Christmas lists. With great anticipation we surf the web, walk the malls and even wait in long lines to find that special thing that we long for. We shop early, we shop late; time is not an issue as long as we can obtain that gift, wrap it and present it to our loved ones we will go that extra mile. Once we have found that gift, or that thing for which we searched so diligently, we saw that it wasn t all that it was advertised to be. The quality was less than desired, the color wasn t quite right and it wasn t worth the price. We may become a little disappointed. Just as a reminder the Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6) will never disappoint us. We can seek A Word From Our Elders -Sister Marilyn Silver Him from morning until night and we can worship Him with our whole heart. How bad do we want Him? How determined are we to follow on to know Him? Do we seek His will and His presence that we may worship Him? The wise men sought Jesus with determination. They went that extra mile, the press was not too hard and the journey was not too long. They did not waiver. When they were in His presence they worshipped Him. How do we react in the presence of God 24/7? Are we thankful, do we worship Him. Do we still seek Him? Wise men, women, boys and girls STILL DO. Oh, come let us adore Him Christ the Lord! A Blessed Christmas to YOU. -Elder Donnell Comfort, Sr. CHRISTMAS IS. Christmas means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. To some it is a time of shopping and spending. To some it is a time of giving and sharing. To some it is a time of carousing and traveling. And to some it is a time of cooking and eating our favorite dishes. But, what is the real meaning of Christmas? What message should it convey to every one of us? Christmas is a time to REMEMBER. Remember the great love that God has for each and every one of us. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. Christmas is a time to REJOICE. We rejoice in God s unmerited favor. We rejoice in the forgiveness of our sins. And we rejoice in the new life that he has given unto us. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be unto all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. Christmas is a time to REFORM. Yes, my sisters and my brothers during this Christmas season and as we prepare to celebrate a new year we must rid ourselves of ungodly behavior, negative attitudes and unproductive lifestyles. let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL Page 2 Temple of Deliverance, HCG, Inc. Newsletter
3 Temple Men Speak Greetings to all this Holiday Seasons -A DIVINE CORDIAL- "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28. If the whole Scripture be the feast of the soul, then Roman 8 may be a dish at that feast. This is a refreshing for the hearts of God's people. In the preceding verses the apostle had been wading through the great doctrines of justification, a mystery so arduous and profound, that without the help and conduct of the Spirit, we might soon have waded beyond our depth. In this verse the apostle touches upon that pleasant string of consolation, "WE KNOW THAT ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD TO THEM THAT LOVE GOD." This is a weighty verse of scripture; therefore we shall gather up every filing of this gold, that nothing be lost. In the text there are three general branches: First, a glorious privilege - All things work for good. Second, the persons interested in this privilege, are doubly specified. They are lovers of God, and they are the called. Third, the origin and spring of this effectual calling, set down in these words - according to his purpose. A short statement on the first branch: "The glorious privilege" here are two things to be considered. Temple Women Speak God s Grace & Mercy On this Christian walk of life at times we experience sadness, tears, afflictions, perplexities, weakness and fears. Through God s grace and mercy in every affliction we are more than conquerors by the love and power of God. When outward circumstances seem unbearable and our human resources are exhausted, God s resources are given to enlarge and increase our faith., our hope and The certainty of the privilege We know "We know." It is not a matter wavering or doubtful. The apostle does not say, We hope, or guess, but it is like an article in our creed, We KNOW that all things work for good. Hence observe that the truths of the gospel are evident and infallible. A Christian may come not merely to a vague opinion, but to a certainty of what he holds. Though a Christian has not a perfect knowledge of the mysteries of the gospel, yet he has certain knowledge. 'We see through a glass darkly' (1 Cor 13:12), therefore we have not perfection of knowledge; but "we behold with open face" (2 Cor 3:18), therefore we have certainty. We may know that he is in the state of grace. "We know that we have passed from death to life" (1 John 3:14). Let us then not rest in skepticism or doubts, but labor to come to a certainty in the things of religion The Excellency of the privilege -- All things work together for good. "All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant..."(ps 25:10). If every path has mercy in it, then it works for our strength. He puts no more on us than we re able to bear. For God will never leave or forsake his faithful children. Therefore we must not despair, lose hope, or diminish our faith in the midst of problems. In our weakness, troubles and suffering it opens us up to the abundant grace of God. 2 Corinthians 12:9 states, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. -Deacon Matthew Pendleton good. If all things work for good, hence learn that there is providence (a divine guidance). Things do not work of themselves, but God sets them working for good. God is the great Disposer of all events and issues. He sets everything working. 'His kingdom ruleth over all' (Ps 103:19). Things in the world are not governed by good luck, by the counsels of men, by the stars and planets, but by divine providence. Providence is the queen and governess of the world. There are three things in providence: God's foreknowing, God's determining, and God's directing all things to their periods and events. Whatever things do work in the world, God sets them a working. That which is by some called chance is nothing else but the result of providence. Learn to adore providence. Providence has an influence upon all things here below. Why all things work for good, is the near and dear interest which God has in His people. The Lord has made a covenant with them. 'They shall be my people, and I will be their God' (Jer.32:38). By virtue of this compact, all things do, and must, work for good to them. 'I am God, even thy God' (Ps 50:7). This word, 'Thy God,' is the sweetest word in the Bible, it implies the best relations; and it is impossible there should be these relations between God and His people, and everything not work for their good. -Sister Rose Young This is the month to celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus. Let s not forget the real meaning of Christmas when we re out shopping for gifts to give and to receive that the greatest gift we can ever receive is Jesus. Hoping all have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year. Volume 32, Issue 12 December 2, 2012 Page 3
4 Every 1st Sunday morning the TOD Sunbeams & Youth Choirs render songs of praise unto the Lord. First Sunday evenings -as announced- at 3pm are Youth Services. The current topic is Developing Character to Stand Strong & Tall. These sessions include videos along with discussions and Biblical Principles to encourage the young and young at heart. Temple Youth Speak Our Walk Should Match Our Talk -Matthew 7:21- In this verse, Jesus gets down to the heart of every person's belief. He states that calling Him "Lord" is not enough to get into heaven. That is because anyone can say the word but not mean it. What counts is a person's changed life--a life of obedience to God's will. Regarding the Christian life, it has been said, It is not how high you can jump that matters, but how straight you can walk when you hit the ground again." You may be able to say all of the right things, but if your faith does not impact the way you live, it is meaningless--even offensive. I In truth, you do not have a real relationship with God. - by Sis. Lynetta Watkins You call me fair and love me not You call me rich and ask me not You call me eternal and seek me not If I condemn you, blame me not The more we learn about what God has done for us, the more we will want to know what we can do for Him. In addition, our motives will come from a pure heart, not from selfish ambition. God is looking for genuine believers whose walk matches their talk. Can you be counted as one? An engraving on a cathedral wall in Germany bears these soul searching words: Thus speaketh Christ our Lord to us, You call me Master and obey me not You call me light and see me not You call me the Way and walk me not You call me life and live me not You call me wise and follow me not Page 4 Temple of Deliverance, HCG, Inc.
