1 PASTOR LYNN W. BEANUMB EANUM, J, JR Zachary Taylor Highway Mineral, Virginia (540) (phone) (540) (fax) Volume 32, Issue 8 August 5, 2012 Conversion/Repentance Pastor Lynn W. Beanum Jr. Greeti n gs in th e wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ, the captain of salvation and soon-coming King. Due to Adam disobeying God, sin affects all mankind. We were shapen in iniquity; and in sin did our mothers conceive us (Ps. 51:5). For all of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23). We are constantly breaking our relationship with God, but God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). D o n e o n l y b y conversion or repentance (which literally means to turn from sin) enables us to receive the grace of God through salvation and of man in contrast to justification and Pastor regeneration which are solely Lynn acts of God. The implication is W. always present while going Beanum t h r o u g h c o n v e r s i o n. Jr. Conversion can only be accomplished with the help of the Holy Ghost, not merely confessing with our mouths, but the receiving of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is a complete repudiation of sin, and complete surrender to Christ as our Lord and King. Today, unfortunately, we don't hear much about repentance and conversion. It denotes a return to a proper relationship with God which was broken by moral failure. We do whatever makes us feel good, as long as we are not hurting anyone, oh but we are. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). We are to be in the world, but not of the world; the only Christ men will see is Christ in us. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and your children to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call (Acts 2:38-39). Truly, that includes us today; we are not really Christians until we receive the Spirit of Christ. Christians were first called Christians because they were Christ-like. God wants us to be the salt and light of this dark, sinful world. Let's live and pray that men and women will be converted, repent and receive God's Spirit. The coming of the Lord is very near to us..amen. Verse of the Month Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:7)

2 A Word from Our Elders Editor s Article Editor s Prayer Lord, I thank you. I know I don t say it as often as I should, but thank you! Thank you for not ever getting tired of me talking to you so much. Thank you for being my friend. Thank you for allowing me to lean on you. I know some days you are physically carrying me from place to place because I don t have the drive or motivation to continue. Thank you for being the ultimate support system. Thank you for supplying me with a natural support system. Thank you for giving them strength, wisdom and knowledge. Lord, thank you for opening my spiritual eyes. Thank you for allowing me to see the truth and for seeing things as they really are. I know I didn t want to believe what I saw or heard but you trusted me with the truth so I accept it and ask for strength to endure and the ability to move forward. Lord, thank you for showing me the difference between a fan of yours and a follower of yours. It s hard to believe that the people I believed were Christians were simply church folk. Thank you for the ability to deal with them accordingly even though I haven t done the best job. Lord, thank you for removing the wrong people in my life and replacing them with the right people. Thank you for sending those people to me who actually want to encourage me and not belittle me, discourage me, gossip about me and bully me. Lord, I thank you for your unconditional, unwavering and perfect love. Like the song says, you loved me through my good and my bad, you didn t erase my future because of my past and for that I thank you and I love you. Lord, thank you for being the God that you are. By: Sister Keli Hughes, Editor I m so glad that I decided to put you before everything. I know now that the life I was living before you is nothing compared to the life I live now. My life in you is fruitful and sweet and I thank you so much. Thank you for understanding my frustrations, my fears, hearing my cries and seeing my tears (lol I rhymed) and embracing me just as I am, joking and all. Thank you for holding me close once the tears stop and then making me feel better by providing me with a better outlook and a promise to stand on. Lord, I thank you the most for being the perfect example of LOVE. You have given me love by supplying me with the best sister friends in your entire world, who love me with the love they have for you. You gave me a family that loves me and supports me in any and everything, and for that I am overwhelmed with love and gratitude. Lord, I thank you for the tests that are sure to come and I thank you for the strength I will gain from each test. Lord, thank you for my mind because I m still in the right one even though sometimes I feel like I m out of it. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Oh, and Lord please wrap your arms around my brothers Mikey and Philip. They are so dear to me and I love them so much! I want to see them do nothing but prosper. Love on them and please keep them safe. Please watch over those whose mouths say they know you but their hearts can t confirm that as truth. I love you. Amen. Let it Go Written by: Bishop T. D. Jakes Submitted By: Elder Tim Williams There are people who can walk away from you. And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don t want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone. When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left. The Bible said that they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us. [1 John 2:19] People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can t make them stay. Let them go. And it doesn t mean that they are a bad person; it just means that their part in the story is over. And you ve got to know when people s part in your story is over so that you don t keep trying to raise the dead. You ve got to know when it s dead. You ve got to know when it s over. Let me tell you something. I ve got the gift of good-bye. It s the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye. It s not that I m hateful, it s that I m faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He ll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don t need it. Stop begging people to stay. Let them go!! Page 2 Temple of Deliverance, HCG, Inc. Newsletter

3 Temple Women Speak Temple Men Speak Prayer Changes Things Praise the Lord everybody. I thank God for his son Jesus; because He lives I can face tomorrow. I trust in Jesus because He never fails me. It may seem like trouble is all around us but trouble doesn t last always. If you keep praying, He will hear your cry. Psalm 34:6 says, This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. We face tests every day and sometimes it feels like God has left us, but He promised By: Deacon Bobby Carter He would never leave us. He will be with us until the end if you just wait and keep praying. May God bless us all. Shake it Off and Run the Race These are the times that try men and women s souls. We are living in a time when the love of many is waxing cold. Things that are RIGHT are being called WRONG and things that are WRONG are being called RIGHT. Many are not enduring sound doctrine. They have itching ears, for there is a famine in the world for the WORD of God. Abuse, sickness, poverty, and loneliness abounds. Children are disrespectful to parents and people who have rule over them. Mothers are against daughters, fathers are against sons, and children are against parents. Drugs, sex, and immorality are out of control, but I am persuaded that we must shake off these things and press on. We can t be moved by what we see or hear; we must stay focused and remember those things that we have been taught through the Word of God. 2 Peter 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. 1Peter 1:13 Wherefore, gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be By: Sister Sandra Woolfolk bought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. There is a time and season for everything under the sun. These things too will pass. While going through, fast, pray, read the Word of God, be around God-fearing, positive people. When you seemingly can t get a prayer through, call for HELP from a prayer warrior who can get a prayer through. Sometimes, you will have to encourage yourself. Don t focus on the problem, focus on the problem solver. Ensure you have a personal relationship with God and know Him for yourself. Put your confidence in God, knowing that He can and will see you through. Don t give up! Press on towards the high calling in Jesus Christ. Don t let anyone or anything keep you from making it. Fight the good fight of faith. Remember, the race is not given to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but he who endures to the end, the same shall be saved. No matter what the problem, SHAKE IT OFF and RUN THIS RACE!!!!! You and I can make it! Be encouraged. Volume 32, Issue 8 August 5, 2012 Page 3

4 August 5, 2012: NO YOUTH SERVICE. August 25, 2012: 6 pm Young Adult Choir Anniversary To be Strong to the Finish, You Must Eat Your Spinach Written by: Joyce Myers Yucky Vegetables That Make You Grow Submitted by: Brittany Anderson For many of you, two of the yuckiest vegetables on your plate are discipline and self-control. Yet, without discipline and self-control, you ll never achieve the dreams and goals God has planted in your heart, let alone live a life that glorifies Him. If you re going to persevere and be the person God wants you to be, you must learn to practice discipline and self-control. Hebrews 12:11 says, No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening it's painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way (NLT). There is nothing more wonderful or comfortable than having grown in God to a place where you are at peace with Him in every area of your life. Learning to live with discipline and selfcontrol brings a harvest of peace that far exceeds the short-term thrill of living without boundaries or accountability. By the same token, there is nothing worse than waking up with a guilty conscience, knowing there s something unsettled between you and God. The only way to settle things with Him is by learning to say no to the things that poison your life and sticking with people and situations that contribute to your spiritual well being. Understand that God has put those people and situations in your life to polish you and mold you into the image of Christ. Maybe you think learning self-control is too hard. You say, I don t have any willpower. But discipline is much more than just having willpower. John 15:5 says we can t do anything apart from God. It took me a lot of years of frustration and wasted effort to learn that I could not make happen what only God can do. Three Ways You ll Grow Spending time with God is where everything comes together. If you want to build discipline and self-control into your life, study, pray and linger in the presence of God and tell Him you know you can t do anything if He doesn t make it happen. Spend a little time every day in His Word. Spending time with God is where everything comes together. If God is dealing with you about your behavior and attitudes, instead of brooding because you can no longer get away with the things you once got away with, you should rejoice. That s the Holy Spirit coming alive inside you. Align with God s Will God has planted a seed in your heart and it s growing. Believe that God is working in your heart to make you want more of what He has for your life than just getting your own way. You can water that seed by seeking Him with your whole heart. The more you pray, study and read the Word, the more you will see the positive results of doing the right thing, which will make you want to do even more right things. You have everything you need, in Christ, to be what you need to be. Commit to bringing your life under God s discipline and authority. Ask Him to help you live a life aligned with His will. It may be hard at first, but stick with it and I promise you will experience deeper peace than you ever knew when you were living only for yourself. Page 4 Temple of Deliverance, HCG, Inc. 7 Caregiver Inspiration PRAYER CHANGES THINGS By Sister Debbie Adams We do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groaning too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God (Romans 8:26-27, NASB). Often the burdens and troubles of life can be complicated and we do not understand what God is trying to work out in us by allowing us to be in the situations we are in, whether we are sick and shut-in, or serving as a caregiver. Sometimes we cannot put into words exactly what we are feeling. Others may perceive us as being unconcerned or cruel when we express our true feelings about our status in life. It is then that we have a difficult time praying and asking God for what we need. And if we do not know anyone who has been through a similar situation, we can feel alone and shut out from the world. We must take comfort in knowing that the Holy Spirit knows, understands, and pleads our case before the throne of God our Father. Our groans and issues become words through the Spirit and our silent prayers are turned into praise and intercession according to the will of God. We can then be encouraged, knowing that our unknown thoughts, deep longings and desires (sometimes even unknown to us) are presented to God. He knows us and loves us completely. Our names are engraved on His heart and hands. He never forgets us; He intervenes in all things for our good and to His glory. Even as I am sitting here at the computer writing this article, the song comes on the radio, Prayer Changes Things by Jessica Reedy. She says it s going to be alright. We just need to put it on the altar, because prayer changes things. Just pray and God will do the rest, because prayer changes things! Father, We love you and thank you for encouraging us. Thank You for allowing the Holy Spirit to intercede on our behalf. Love you much... Love me when I least deserve it, because that's when I really need it.
