Beanum, Jr. reetings in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ, the captain of salvation, our sooncoming King. This time of the year there are revivals all around us. There is a great need for us, the people of God, to continue to be revived in Christ. Revival may be d e f i n e d a s t h e reawakening of religious faith, spiritual life and activity. W h i l e the English word "revival" does not occur frequently in the Bible as used today, a number of revivals can be traced and the reviving work of God's Spirit described. The two principal words are (Heb. Hayd) "to live, recover, come to life", (Qal, stem), "preserve alive, quicken, revive" ( pi'el); cause to live, restore to life,revive (Hiph'il), and Gr. Anoza", to be alive again, to come to life again, spring unto life, revive." In the KJV, "revive" sometimes means literally to come back from the dead to physical life, as in the case of the widow's son (1 Kgs. 17:22), the man buried in the tomb of Elisha (2 Kings 13:21) and Christ (Rom. 14:9). It may describe restoration from their bondage and exile in Babylonia, (Ezr. 9:8-9). The NT records how the early Christians in Jerusalem were revived when they prayed for needed boldness, and all were filled with the Holy Ghost/Spirit, to witness concerning the resurrection of Jesus (Acts 4:29-33). Being that we are born in sin, there's a need to repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus, then filled with the Holy Ghost. As the Word of God says, If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chron. 7:14). If only we will do this, many souls would return to God and be revived, the fields are ripe for harvest. Lord, please send the revival. Amen. She saith unto him, Yea [Yes], Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. - John 11:27 Greetings in the name of Jesus. Have you ever tried offering God all the PRAISE, all the HONOR and all the GLORY for the wonderful things that He has done in your life? But, then you find out that you have another Yes Lord bubbling over on the inside. You felt a Hallelujah ring out from way down deep on the inside and you realized, I just can t stop praising His name. Sometimes things in life may seem difficult to express. Finding the right words to utter praises unto the Lord, like we ought to, may be one of those things. We try hard to express ourselves for the things that the Lord has done, but we find ourselves falling short of offering true praises unto our savior, Jesus Christ. It seems like one thank you, Lord only A Word From Our Elders Sister Marilyn Silver generates another thank you, Lord. Hallelujah, which is the highest praise, only turns in another Hallelujah, but only louder the next time. As we continue to think of the goodness of Jesus, the praises begin to stir in our hearts. Our lips begin to utter glory and honor while the hope of God is manifested even the more in our spirit. Before long we realize that we have another YES LORD! The more we praise the Lord, the more we want to praise Him. Who wouldn t serve a God like this, in times like these? Come let s give HIM praise. I ve got another Thank you Jesus another Hallelujah and another YES LORD!! Let s praise Him with our whole heart. God bless you always. Elder Clinton Porter, Sr. Salvation Through Grace Greetings in the Most Holy Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank God for all of his blessings toward us. Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: (Eph. 2:5-6). I am so glad that God has made it possible that whosoever believe in him (Jesus) can be saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8). Our children are getting ready to go back to school and we would like to see all of them empowered with God's spirit, and that they would allow his spirit to lead and guide them. All of us that know God, and can get a prayer through, let s pray for our children that God will continue to protect and keep them -because we want them to be saved! 3 Temple Men Speak Deacon Sherman Winn Be Ready Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Truly, it is a blessing to know the Lord, but it is most important that God knows us. Matthew 24:44 states, Therefore be ye also ready; for in such an hour as ye think not the son of man cometh. Although things may not always look good around us, God is still good to us, and will be with us to the end. First Thessalonians 5:2 says, For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. I pray we all be ready for His return. May God bless you all. Temple Women Speak Sister Sharon Robinson You can make it! I praise God for saving me 41 years ago. Receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and then going down in Jesus name that same night has been the most precious gifts I have ever received. In my journey, I have realized that sometimes we put ourselves in tough situations through bad choices and wrong decisions we make in our lives. It is important to know, however, that no matter what we face, Jesus is willing and able to forgive and deliver us. It does not mean we won t have to suffer some consequences for our choices, but our hope rests in the fact that Jesus is faithful at his word. The Bible in Romans 8:37 tells us that we are more than conquerors. When we make mistakes, the main thing is not to continue in the pattern. We must recognize where we went wrong and forgive ourselves. A lot of us dwell on what we did wrong; ask Jesus forgiveness, know He will forgive us, and get back on track. The secret though is to praise our way through. Where we often fall short and get farther away from God is when we take our eyes off Him and begin to look at our situations. I love the book of Psalms. In the passage of scripture Psalm 139:14 he notes that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. If we can just press through our situation and praise Him the more, we will gain strength, overcome, and be able to go forward with our lives. Albert Barnes Temple Youth Speak By: Sis. Tara Lewis Facing the Three T s You have heard the word in Church. You have learned the word in Sunday School. You have read the word at home. Yet you feel like Paul when he stated in Romans 7:19 For I do not do the good I want, but I do the very evil I do not want. One of the three T s has struck again: Trials, Tribulations, & Temptations. Trials are life s test, the faults and fallacy within ourselves that we try to correct to become more like Christ. Tribulations are the hindrances, hard times, of life. These are the bumps in the road or mountains in our way that come to stop us or slow us down from becoming more like Christ. Temptations are our unhealthy desires, the things that feel so good to us but hinder our growth in Christ. The three T s have been known to show up at the most inconvenient time, anytime. This is why we are encouraged in Mark 14: 38 to Stay awake and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. We must be vigilant in our walk, consistently praying and seeking God s face. If not, it would seem as though the Three T s have snuck up on us. So, what should you do if the Three T s are creating havoc in your life? 1. Trust God: 2 Peter 2:9 states: the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation Not only does God know how to rescue you but He knows when to rescue you as well. In the first part of 1 Corinthians 10:13, God reminds us that He won t allow us to go through anything that will break us. Does that mean it won t be hard? No. It just means the Three T s won t kill you if you obey God. 2. Choose Wisely: 1 Corinthians 10:13 also say that God will provide a way out of our trials so that we can endure. It is still your choice to choose the escape/accept the answer that God provides. When the Three T s are around we can choose to do what is right in our own eyes or we can follow God. If we choose wisely and obey God we can become overcomers. 3. Overcome: Happy is the one who endures testing, because when he has proven to be genuine, he will receive the crown of life that God promised to those who love him.( James 1:12) The Three T s are a constant part of this walk with God; but through Christ we are more than conquerors. 7 Vacation Bible School -Sis. Vera Coleman Hallelujah to the sweet name of Jesus! July 21st through 25th was a blessed week of VBS. Our theme was Jungle Safari...where kids Explore the Nature of God. Each night the theme song How Great is our God rang out as we prepared our hearts for the opening devotionals. Classes were held for ages 3 to adults. Our lessons were taught with the inspiration and power of God through our dedicated teachers. The Memory Verse for the week was taken from Psalm 86:10, For thou art great, and doest wondrous things; thou art God alone. Students were dismissed to class with excitement and the expectations of exploring the nature of God while having fellowship and fun. Our lessons were: God is Creator (Genesis 1), God is Provider (1 Kings 17), God is Protector (Daniel 6), God is Savior (John 3, 19 & 20) & God is King (John 14; Rev. 1, 4, 21 & 22). We do appreciate and praise God for Pastor Beanum, all of our faithful teachers, assistants, helpers, van driver, attendants in the food court, arts & crafts, recreation, cooks and all who gave so willingly of yourselves all week. The attendance exceeded 100 participants nightly. Only God can do great things like this. Looking forward to another blessed year. 8 Church Mother Appreciation Service On the fourth Sunday, July 27th, following morning worship we gathered in the fellowship hall to honor our beloved Mother Ruby Beanum. The Theme was A woman of Faith. Proverbs 31:30, A woman that feareth the Lord she shall be praised was the chosen verse for this occasion. Sis. Ruth White welcomed us as we entered in to honor this beautiful woman of God. Love and appreciation were displayed as many saints and friends supported this celebration of the faithfulness and sacrifices that Mother Beanum has shown down through the years. Representatives from as far as North Carolina were there to show their love in action. The program consisted of several tributes of love from Pastor Beanum, Sis. Ruth White (coordinator), Sis. Sandy Woolfolk, Sis. April Sims, Sis. Tara Lewis, Sis. Joyce Rock, Bro. Paul Hall (accompanied by family members), the Elders & their wives, Elder Donnell Comfort, Sis. Tiny LeFear, family and friends. As we feasted on a delicious meal many cards, gifts and monetary offerings were delivered to the gift section. Mother Beanum is such an inspiration and strong support to the Temple of Deliverance. Her stand for Christ and dedication to the work of the Lord have not gone unnoticed. She not only inspires the Temple but the community as well. She reaches out to help anyone she can. Mother Ruby has prepared meals, visited the sick, counseled those in need, offered words of encouragement, prayed, labored and toiled in the vineyard without complaining. Her life is yet touching the lives of those with whom she comes in contact, and her testimony is more than a talk, it s a walk with Christ. 9 Turning Toward God When Overwhelmed -Lynn Severance Author -Excerpts of Article from: Being overwhelmed isn t bad. Lynn explains how it depends on what you are overwhelmed with. No one is like You, Lord; You are great, and Your name is mighty in power (Jeremiah 10:6). I am feeling overwhelmed by my physical fatigue... pain.. fears... dreams deferred... pain in the lives of those I love... uncertainty about my future... carrying burdens in isolation. False guilt emerges about feeling overwhelmed when the Lord has exhorted me to trust Him. He has overcome. He knows his plans for me are good. I love and trust Him above anyone and anything else. Yet, I get overwhelmed by the feelings whirling in my circumstances. Why is He not overwhelmed by the heaviness I carry? The burdens are real. I don t want to spiritualize them away. My focusing inward and dwelling on what cannot be answered in the now takes my focus off the One who is dwelling with me in all of these feelings. It is not that He wants me to negate them. He wants me to be overwhelmed by Him so that the burdens are not foremost. He is. tomorrow, I am not! I fluctuate in how I feel from moment to moment in the same day. He beckons me to enter His rest where His peace is found. There, unlike the slippery slopes I create for myself, we are on even ground, yoked together, side by side, carrying the loads. I can then keep in step with Him allowing Him to set the pace, sharing with Him in the now. He wants me to unload my feelings honestly. With Him I can, for He alone knows just what to do with them. Remaining close, I can hear His counsel and watch Him dismantle my confusion. Prayer: Lord, You are surrounding me and within me. That is the overwhelming You want me to feel. Help me to let all else fall aside to be replaced by Your care. Amen.
