Just as the seasons of the year change, so we can go through seasons of our souls. For some, it is a time of new life spiritually. God is doing something fresh and new in your life. For many, it is a time of growth and activity. You are learning about the Lord and putting into practice the lessons he has taught you. For others, it is a time of harvest and seeing God work through you. You are passing on the blessings you have gained to others. And for still others, it is a time of waiting and resting. You have wisdom to share about your life in >>> New Class Couples Bible Study There will a new Couples Bible Study beginning on Wednesday, August 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the Young Adult 7 Classroom (near the Choir Room). It will be led by Chris and Heidi Barnette. It is based on the study, Building Your Marriage to Last by Dennis From The Children s Director >>> The summer was a very busy time with VBS, World Changers, God & Country and Kids Camp. I am blessed to be in charge of these events and I thank God for my place of service. These events could not happen without everyone at Westwood coming together. In VBS, we had four children ask Jesus into their heart for the first time. We also had a homeless mom and kids come every night and the mom went to Adult VBS. Because we served a snack supper, they had something to eat every night both physically and spiritually. We also had one of our largest turn outs in VBS this year. With the money that classes donated to World Changers, we were able to feed lunches to groups in March and June. This helped the students and BBA senior adults got their houses worked on. At God & Country we were able to show our community a great time with food and fireworks and Rachel Martin and her friends came and prayed with anyone who needed prayer. All other studies will be on the first Tuesday of each month. That day we will also have our monthly lunch at Noon followed by Mr. Scott Fenn of Baptist Health System who will speak on the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) at 12:45 p.m. Lunch is potluck with meat, bread and drinks provided. Bring side dishes and desserts. Sunday, August 4: Sunday School Promotion Day. Breakfast will be served in Children s classes. Tuesday, August 6: JoyLife Bowling, Movie, Lunch, Leave Westwood at 8:00 a.m. Return about 5:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10: First Priority Skate and Pizza Party for Fifth Graders at Bottenfield Middle School. Singles Fellowship >>> Saturday, August 24: Meet at the Irondale Café at 5:00 p.m. Women s Ministry >>> Sunday, August 18: All ladies are invited to join us in the Pastor s Classroom from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to hear Michelle Mann share her passion for Community Bible Study. Michelle is the daughter of Jeanne Price and is a speaker/ teacher for Community Bible Study. Wednesday, August 14: Kid s Missions Kickoff, 6:30 p.m. From June 1 through August 16, the Missions Committee is sponsoring a collection of school supplies which will be distributed to needy children on Saturday, August 17. Look for the collection boxes around the church or bring your donation to the office. Please note the change in collection date and distribution date. Sunday, August 18: Dr. Timothy George, Dean of Beeson Divinity School, Samford University, will be our special guest preacher in the morning service.
