Beanum, Jr. reetings in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ, the captain of salvation, and soon-coming King. God s mercies again have allowed us to come into the month of February, when many will be expressing love with cards, letters, candies, flowers etc. Valentine's Day is good, but sadly some express love just once yearly. Thanks be to our wonderful God for expressing His love daily, morning by morning, giving us new mercies. "Love" (Hebrew, Ahavah, Greek, Agape) is presented in the scripture as the very nature of God (I John 4:8, 16). The theological uses in both covenants concern the love of (1) God to man, (2) Man to God and (3) Man to man. The Old Testament representation of God's love to Pastor Lynn W. Beanum Jr. man is seen in His concern for all men (Deut. 33:3); especially in His choosing of Israel His elective love "ahaba" (Deut. 7:7-8), and is extended to each individually (Ps.41:12, Prov.3:12). The New Testament repeats God's love for all creatures (Matt.5:43), but emphasizes the particular manifestation of Himself in Christ and Calvary (John 3:16, Rom.5:8, 8:31-39), events which procure eternal life for the believers. God is revealed as loving because He is love itself (John 4:6, 16); it is His very essence. Love is the other term along with "light" (I John 1:5) which describes the moral quality of God. The love of man to God is the total response of man with all of his heart to our gracious God. Love to God is expressed ethically especially in keeping His saying and fearing Him. Love is patient, love is kind, love knows no jealousy, is never boastful, puts on no airs, never acts dishonorably, and never pleases his own interest first. Love never loses her temper; love never imputes evil motives, never feels glad when others go wrong, but rejoices in everything that is right and true. Love conceals the faults of others, always believes the best, never despairs, and remains steadfast to the end. Love never fails, though everything else may fail. Let's live and pray that the love of Christ will be manifested through us, in these last dark days, so others will be drawn to God, asking, What must I do to be saved? Greater love hath no man than this, that a man will lay down his life for his friends, that others will be saved. Amen, Amen, Amen. Verse For the Month: In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. I John 4:9

2 A Word from Our Editor Falling in Love with Jesus Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. -I John 4:7-8 Beloved is defined as greatly loved or dear to the heart, one who is d e a r l y l o v e d (Dictionary.com). Some say that love is a strong emotion and others say love is not an emotion at all, because emotions come and go. Others say love is a commitment. Where can we find the best example of LOVE? Our greatest example of love is found in Christ Jesus. His death, burial and resurrection was love in action, love that lasts a lifetime and forever. We can feel God s tender love and care encamped all around us. A Word From Our Elders Look Up: For the Greatest Love is of God Praise God to Everyone. First we give honor to God and to all the people of God. He has kept us through 2012 and now we are in the year of Give thanks unto him for He is good, and his mercy endureth forever. In 2012 there were struggles and people have gone through rough times but know that we were never alone. God saw us through, so give thanks unto him, over and over again. Romans 8:28 says, and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. Call upon him for he cares fro us. Romans 8:21 states, If God be for us, who can be against us. Loving God and knowing that He loves us should causes us to put our best foot forward. When we are in love we try to be on our best behavior. Understanding that God has His eyes on us, hears us, and has confidence in us to obey Him although we can t see him, should motivate us to be on our best behavior 24/7. Most of us want to please the One we love. What is true love? Let s look into the scriptures. We can find love throughout the 66 books. However, 1 Corinthians 13 gives us an insight into the mind of Christ and shares with us what love is and how it acts and reacts. 1 Corinthian 13:4-8 states: Charity [love] suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, -Sister Marilyn Silver but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 8 Charity never faileth; To comply with this example of love, we must stay in the face of God, seeking strength to be who He requires us to be. I Corinthians 13:12-13 says, For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity [love]. We cannot love one another without God; we cannot even love our friends, much less our enemies, without God. So, let s renew our vows with Christ, let s fall in love with Him all over again, that we may love one another. It s a day that we show love by giving of gifts, whether it is cards, flowers, candy or even more. But remember the greatest gift we can ever receive is the gift of love that cometh from God. John 3:16 says, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. It is a joy to give to your sweetheart, mother, wife, children, sister, aunt, uncle, father husband, brother, friends or whoever it may be. 3 Temple Men Speak From the pen of Kirk Franklin, Love, a word that comes and goes/but few people really know what it means to really love somebody As Men of God, do we know what it really means to love someone? Do we love our wives, as our own bodies? (Eph. 5:28) In this month of Love, I invite each Man of God to examine himself and recommit to the vows that he has taken before God and these witnesses, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, till death do you part. Is it easy? Not all the time. Nothing worth having ever comes easy. But I can surely say, I am a happier, more fulfilled, more content man with and because of my wife than I would otherwise be alone. Can you say the same thing about Temple Women Speak you and your spouse? If not, you should look deep inside yourself and ask why not? And then take ACTION to address it. God can change any situation if you let him. It is never too late to turn things around. If you need help, put your pride down and talk to someone. Get counseling. Attend the Marriage Conference we have coming next month. Take the first step and lead. If your marriage is strong, do all that you can to keep it that way. We cannot succumb to the I life culture in which we live, where it s all about me, my happiness, my satisfaction, my goals, my ambitions. We are supposed to love our wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it (Eph. 5:25). Do you know how much Christ loves his people? If not, I invite you to read and truly study the book of Hosea to find out. We all can gain significant perspective after reading that book. I cannot end without thanking God for the Love of my Life, Michelle, and my beautiful daughter Olivia. This year will make 10 wonderful years that Michelle and I will have been married and the Best is Still Yet to Come! Happy Valentine s Day to All. I pray that God s Glory and Love be revealed in all our marriages until that Great Day when we all meet our Bridegroom in the air! -Sister Tae Wormley The word tells us that from the rib of a man, woman was created; in order to be a companion and a help meet to man. I am therefore reminded of the saying, "Behind every great man, there is a great woman." February is Black History month and often times we remember great men who have made a difference in the Black community and who have changed the world. We pay tribute to mighty leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and most currently, President Barack Obama. But we must not forget Coretta; as she marched along side Dr. King during the Montgomery Bus Boycott and still managed to be mommy to their four children. And what about Betty, as she cared for her six daughters and stood by her beloved Malcolm's side, even after he left the Nation of Islam? Both Betty and Coretta did what wives are called to do...as their husbands follow their dreams. Lastly, let us remember all of the rallies and speeches...all of the support that Michelle has publically given to President Barack Obama, while their two girls flourish in the spotlight. These are great women who stood and continues to stand behind and beside great men in our Black History. These women were and are wives, mothers, activists, and homemakers. They are great examples of help meets for their husbands. They are 'woman', from the rib of man and surely; they should not be forgotten. Volume 33, Issue 2 February 3, 2013 Page 3

More importantly, it shows that love needs to be the one thing in life we seek more than anything else. For without it, whatever we do or say really has no lasting value. Compare the love described here with the superficial love found in this world. God says love should be directed toward others (verses 1-3) The world says love should be directed toward ourselves. God says love is patent and kind (verse 4). The world says love satisfies your immediate needs. God says love is never jealous or envious (verse 4). The world says love means that you deserve the "best." God says love is never boastful or proud (verse 4) The world says love isn't necessary to make people respect you. God says, love is loyal (verse 7). The world says love should be self-serving. The kind of love God wants you to give others is impossible to "manufacture" on our own. You might say that it is a "supernatural" love. It is a natural outflow of God's presence in or lives. That is why the Bible says, "God has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love" (Romans 5:5) If you feel your love for others is falling short of God's ideal, ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen you in this area. 5 TOD Watch Night & New Year s Early Morning Service he Temple of Deliverance Family and friends T gathered for our Watch Night Service, on December 31, 2012 at 10pm, to celebrate the Lord in the beauty of holiness. The Praise Team edified the name of Jesus and ushered in the anointing as they worshipped through songs and hymns of dedication unto the Lord. As the saints entered the gates with thanksgiving and the courts with praise an air of excitement was evident in the Temple. Songs, testimonies and headliners filled Sister Shirley Johnson and saints rejoice! the atmosphere a n d e c h o e d throughout the halls. Elder Jason Lewis, our Master of Ceremony, took the service higher as he allowed the Lord to use him to encourage us and to witness to us of how GOOD GOD IS. As the spirit moved from heart to heart we were blessed by the move of God through a solo, Take me to the King, rendered by little Sister Aliya Sutton. The Mass Choir and the United Voices of P r a i s e a l s o Sister Aliya Sutton sings unto the Lord! worshipped the Lord through songs. A PowerPoint Presentation allowed us to reminisce of the many blessed events we enjoyed together, and how God was with us through the valleys and on the mountains in Our Elders offered words of exaltation and praises unto the Lord for the things He has done and Will Do if we keep the Faith. God spoke through Pastor Beanum as he brought forth our last message of He shared the Word of God from the book of John 10:10, The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I am come that they might Pastor Beanum allows the Lord to speak through him! have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. The message title was To Be Alert. Pastor Beanum emphasized that God wants us To Be Alert and obey the will of GOD. Stay Focused and Look up, were the words of life he uttered as the saints rejoiced and the Lord spoke to us through his man servant. The anointing moved mightily while God poured out His spirit upon us. God carried us from 2012 right into 2013 rejoicing and magnifying His Holy name all the way. Pastor Beanum lead us in a collective prayer, and God stirred our hearts, some ran, some cried, some s h o u t e d, others were slain in the spirit. All of those who desired to be blessed were blessed. Our Sister Melanie Hall and saints worshipping in the beauty of holiness! hearts were encouraged to press on and to hold on to God s unchanging hand in As we were dismissed the Brothers escorted the Sisters to the dining hall where they had prepared breakfast for them, and for all in attendance. The fellowship in the sanctuary and in the dining hall was blessed by the LORD. 9 Walk in Peace Family caregiving is often a very long uphill walk. It is fatiguing emotionally and physically. It is essential that you cling very tightly to the hand of the Lord, dear caregiver. Be aware of His presence with you each step of the way. This is the way to not only survival in your caregiving walk but also to peace. Trust God enough to not strive to control or predict the future, dear caregiver. When you try to project your and your loved one s life too far into the future you are trying to do this on your own. You are seeking to be self-sufficient. This will not work. Instead daily refresh yourself in God s Holy Word, the Bible. Spend time in prayer. Take time to be still in His presence. We all desperately need His help. Seek to live in the present, dear caregiver, depending on the Lord alone for each moment. I remember as a caregiver feeling so inadequate. The other fact we must remember, however, is that God has abundantly promised to be our strength. He has abundantly promised to supply all our needs. Caregiving is so overwhelming that there is no way that I could have handled it without the Lord s strength and presence in my life. You cannot either, dear caregiver. The truth of the matter, however, is that we need the Lord s help with everything. Don t divide your life, dear caregiver, into things you feel you can handle yourself and things for which you need the Lord s help. You and I need His help for every single area of our lives. If we give all our needs to Him, we can walk through life with confidence and peace.
