I count it a wonderful privilege to be a witness for the Lord in these last dark days of which 2 Tim. 3:1-5 says, This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof, from such turn away. Right now, as never before, there's a great need for more "Christians/Disciples" being in action for Christ, shining lights in this dark world. "Christian" is one who belongs or is devoted to Christ. There's one of several New Testament terms applied to believers of Christ. It is formed from Christ (Messiah), and the ians ending, which is from the Latin, is used only with proper names. Acts 11:26, And when he had found him, he brought him into Antioch, and it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled Pastor Lynn W. The scripture states that Agrippa said unto Paul, almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian (Acts 26:28). But almost is not good enough. Being a Christian requires suffering for Christ. In I Peter 4:15-16 it reads, But let none of you suffer as a thief or as an evil doer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. Christians/Disciples, in a broad sense, Jesus used "disciple" as descriptive of His followers coming under the influence of His teaching, striving to conform to His principles. It's up to us as Christians to have the first fruit of the Spirit in all goodness and righteousness and truth, proving what is acceptable unto the Lord, and having no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them (Eph. 5:9-11). So let's strive to be Christians/Disciples for the Lord, that are born of the water and the Spirit. Amen, Amen and Amen. 2 A Word from Our Editor Jesus Breaks Every Fetter -Sister Marilyn Silver In the book of Mark chapter 5 Jesus visited the country of the Gadarenes. There was a man there who was possessed with demonic spirits. It was impossible to bind this man with chains or fetters. He would pluck the chain asunder and break the fetters in pieces. Fetters were shackles used to hold the feet. However, this man could not be tamed. But, when he saw Jesus, he ran unto Him and worshipped Him. Jesus had mercy on this man and commanded the unclean spirit to come out of him. Sometimes in life, Satan will try to bind us with fetters (problems/sicknesses/doubt or whatever hinders our faith in A Word From Our Elders The importance of Holiness Praise the Lord to all faithful readers. We once again greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ. In our lesson, we would like to talk about the importance of holiness. Holiness is a word that's tossed about in the Church world and the world today so loosely, and so common place until many times we have forgotten its true meaning. So many feel that holiness is some form of a religious organization or some religious denomination. But holiness is a way we all should live day by day, by the way we treat one another. Holiness is an element that all organizations, denominations, corporations, schools, governments, etc. ought to promote and appreciate. Holiness means that we can be trusted, we are honest, dependable, caring, dedicated, prompt and concerned in everything we do. We should all want to be holy because holiness is being God-like; for He said, Be ye holy for I am holy (1 Peter 1:16). Therefore, faithful and God). We can t walk in the blessings of God all bound up. But Jesus breaks every fetter. It doesn t matter what is trying to hold us from worshipping in the presence of the Lord. If we delight ourselves in Him, He will give us the desires of our heart. When the enemy tries to bind us with fetters, we must remember that Jesus will show up, break every fetter and set us free. Step back and let God handle it. Jesus will break every fetter and He will set you free! Now I can't close without explaining how we become holy. Acts 2:38 says repent and be baptized everyone in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is what produces Holiness and God's righteousness in us. So it takes the Holy Ghost to be Holy. Well until next time, we love you and be blessed. 3 Temple Men Speak Getting God s Results Greetings in the Highest name I know. That name is Jesus! Jesus is able to save you and keep you, if you want to be kept. You must receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your soul - Jas 1:21. Remember, we can't get God's results by doing it the devil's way. Romans 6:1-4 says, What shall we say then? Shall we continue to sin, that grace may abound? God forbid! How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer there in? We don't practice sin any more because we have been buried with Jesus by baptism into his death. Even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:6 says: Because our old nature is crucified that sin might be destroyed. Temple Women Speak -Brother Howard Blakey Sometimes we will mess up in life and fall down. But we must remember, 1 John 1:9, If we confess our sins, he (God) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. So we must be transformed by the renewing of our minds, walking with God to be like God, so we can produce and get God's results in our lives (Romans 12: 1 & 2). Some of us are facing job loss, illness, family illness, and personal struggles. No one is exempt from the challenges that this life may bring. The longer we are in this life, the more we realize that in order to make it we have to have faith and trust in our God. We also have to realize that every trial we go through may not just be for us. These trials that we go through are also there for us to help someone else that may be faced with the same or similar challenge. He promised us that he would bring us through each situation if we trust, lean, and depend on Him. The word tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:7, For we walk by faith and not by sight. The word of the Lord also states in Proverbs 3:5-6 to, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Let s keep holding on to God s unchanging hand. He has brought us this far by faith and we must continue to lean on Him and He will continue to take us through. 4 Temple Youth Speak Seek My Face! Ever wonder if God is real, or if He s actually there for us like the Bible says He is? Having questions about God s existence is often frowned upon in the church and many times these questions are answered with disdain. However, having questions about God, when handled properly, can bring us closer to Christ. He wants us to seek His face, search the scriptures and find out for ourselves that not only was He real when the Bible was written, but that still He exists today. The Bible states in Jeremiah 29:12-14 (The Message), When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I ll listen. When you come looking for me, you ll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I ll make sure you won t be disappointed I ll turn things around for you. God is clearly entreating us to search for Him. Whatever questions we have about Him, we need to find the answers for ourselves. Believing in God because others around you believe in Him is not good enough we have to know the truth for ourselves and hide this word in our hearts! When we have searched the scriptures and hidden the word in our hearts for ourselves and we understand more of the mysteries of - Sister Sierra Silver God for ourselves, we can appreciate Him more then we can truly say, Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee (Psalm 119:11). So, I challenge each of us, don t simply take my word for it. Begin to seek the face of God, form a deeper relationship with Him even if you believe your faith in God is strong and unshakeable, I dare each of us to grow closer to Christ and continue to seek His face! Vera Coleman Hallelujah to the name of Jesus, July was a blessed week of VBS. We learned of the Promises of God. Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith, without wavering (for he is faithful that promise) was our memory theme verse. Every Word (Promise) of God Is True rang out as we gathered together each night with our opening theme song. The promises of God shared in the lessons were God will: FORGIVE YOU, TRANSFORM YOU, GIVE YOU SPIRITUAL GIFTS, HEAL YOU and GIVE YOU ETERNAL LIFE. Praise God for Pastor Beanum, the faithful teachers and assistant teachers who taught about God s Life-saving Love (Promises). We praise God for the Food Court team who spread the table with food and gave everyone time to relax, eat and talk. Our Recreation Department was full of action and fun-filled games. Arts & Craft workers formed and created skilled hands-on projects. The VBS staff and helpers worked diligently, with God s guidance each step of the way to honor God and to be a blessing to all in attendance. 11 Be Conscious Of His Presence Dear Christian caregiver, it is vitally important that you stay conscious of the Lord s presence step by step throughout your day. The Lord s presence with you is both a protection and a promise. He will always be with you, and He will never leave you. Go gently through each day keeping your eyes on the Lord. He will open up the path He has planned for you step by step. The challenges and difficulties are numerous. The promise of the Lord s constant presence is a protection against the pitfalls of despair and self-pity. It is also a protection against worry about the future. When you think about your future and the future of your loved one envision the Lord in that future, because the Lord has promised to always be with you. Keep your eyes focused on the Lord. Look to the Lord continually for help in the challenges of family caregiving. You are the God-appointed comforter and help for your loved one. Often you need comfort yourself, however. When you need comfort, the Lord wants to enfold you in His arms. As you receive His comfort, you will be a better channel of comfort to your loved one for whom you are caring and also perhaps for other people.
