Organ Postlude: Prelude and Fugue No. 1 in C minor, Opus 37 (Felix Mendelssohn) Please join us for Refreshments & Fellowship at the rear of the nave. READINGS THIS WEEK COLLECT Almighty God, your blessed apostles Peter and Paul glorified you in their death as in their life. Grant that your Church, inspired by their teaching and example, and made one by your Spirit, may ever stand firm upon the one foundation, Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS Almighty God, receive all we offer you on this feast of the apostles. Help us to know our own weakness and to rejoice in your saving power, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION Heavenly Father, renew the life of your Church by the power of this sacrament. May the breaking of bread and the teaching of the apostles keep us united in your love, in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. A READING FROM THE BOOK OF EZEKIEL Thus says the Lord God: I myself will search for my sheep, and will seek them out. As shepherds seek out their flocks when they are among their scattered sheep, so I will seek out my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places to which they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness. I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will JUNE 29,

bring them into their own land; and I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the watercourses, and in all the inhabited parts of the land. I will feed them with good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel shall be their pasture; there they shall lie down in good grazing land, and they shall feed on rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I will make them lie down, says the Lord God. I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, but the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them with justice. EZEKIEL 34:11-16 PSALM REFRAIN Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of our God. On the holy mountain stands the city he has founded; the Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob. Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of our God. R I count Egypt and Babylon among those who know me; behold Philistia, Tyre, and Ethiopia: in Zion were they born. Of Zion it shall be said, "Everyone was born in her, and the Most High himself shall sustain her." R The Lord will record as he enrols the peoples, "These also were born there." The singers and the dancers will say, "All my fresh springs are in you." R PSALM 87 A READING FROM THE SECOND LETTER OF PAUL TO TIMOTHY In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I solemnly urge you: proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favourable or unfavourable; con- JUNE 29,

vince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching. For the time is coming when people will not put up with sound doctrine, but having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own desires, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander away to myths. As for you, always be sober, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, carry out your ministry fully. As for me, I am already being poured out as a libation, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 TIMOTHY 4:1-8 THE HOLY GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST ACCORDING TO JOHN When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my lambs." A second time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Tend my sheep." He said to him the third time, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter felt hurt because he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep. Very truly, I tell you, when you were younger, you used to fasten your own belt and to go wherever you wished. But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, JUNE 29,

and someone else will fasten a belt around you and take you where you do not wish to go." (He said this to indicate the kind of death by which he would glorify God.) After this he said to him, "Follow me." JOHN 21:15-19 PSALM 87 Chant No. 1 On the holy mountain stands the city / he has founded;* the Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwel-/lings of Jacob. How I Spend My Summer Vacation This will mark the 9 th year that I have spent my summer preparing for, and taking part in, a remarkable event called The Prouty. It was 33 years ago, that a patient at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, affiliated with Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, died of ovarian cancer. A woman of remarkable courage and incredible hope; Audrey Prouty inspired three of her attending nurses to do something challenging in her honor, to tell her story, and raise awareness for those many others battling cancer. Those 3 nurses set out, by bicycle, on a 100 mile ride through the White Mountains to celebrate Audrey s life. Year after year the event has grown; last year some 5,800 people participated in the annual Prouty; last year raising more than 2.75 million dollars for cancer research! My younger brother, Joel, is a 10 year cancer survivor due to the extraordinary treatment and care he received at this institution, which inspired him to field a team to participate annually. After several years of biking the 100 mile route, this year I will attempt the Prouty Ultimate; two days covering 200 miles. Your support is my inspiration. Financial contributions are greatly appreciated as well as your names, or the names of people you would like remembered, on my shirt. Next time you are in the Cathedral check out the display and sign on for the ride! We all know an Audrey Prouty. Paul JUNE 29,

A NOON-TIME ORGAN RECITAL will be given by James Burchill at the Cathedral on Wednesday 2 July 2014 at 12:10 pm. A collection in aid of the Organ Restoration Fund will be received. The programme, Thomas Attwood and his Connections, will include works by J. S. Bach, W. A. Mozart, Thomas Attwood and Felix Mendelssohn. Please see page 19 for poster. Call for Volunteers The Association of Anglican Deacons in Canada is holding their 2014 Conference in Halifax, August 14-17, 2014 In the tradition of Maritime Hospitality, the host committee is offering the delegates transportation from the airport to their hotel, and return if required, following the conference. To this end, volunteers will be needed to help fulfill this task. We are asking for volunteers to donate their time and talents for a few hours. There may be a call for local shuttling, but this will be determined later. There is a need for greeters at the airport to welcome the delegates and direct them to their waiting drives. If you are willing to lend a hand and be a part of this wonderful ministry, or if you need further information, please send your name, phone numbers, home and cell, address, and days you would be available to: Deacon Marilyn Hamlin, mhamlin@eastlink.ca Parkdale Ave Timberlea NS B3T 1B9 Thank you for your support Deacon Heather JUNE 29,

Pedal for PWRDF with the Ride for Refuge By Simon Chambers Attention, cycling fans (and non-cycling fans who want to support a great project)! There s a new way you can support PWRDF and get out on your bike at the same time! PWRDF has joined the Ride for Refuge, a national fundraising program encouraging people to form or join a team and ride in one of 25 locations across Canada to raise funds for the organization of their choice. The ride will take place on October 4, 2014 and teams can sign up to ride 10, 25, 50, or 100km on the day. It is designed to be very kid-friendly so families can ride together. PWRDF riders will help us raise funds to provide food for work to 12,000 people forced to flee violence in South Sudan through a partnership with Finn Church Aid (FCA) and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB). Thanks to matching funds from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD), every dollar raised by your team will be matched by $4 from the government of Canada! Our goal is to raise $25,000 through the ride, which will translate into $125,000 of work in South Sudan! The Ride is a great way for you to support PWRDF either as an individual rider or by forming a team with your: Youth group Cycling club JUNE 29,
