7 READINGS THIS WEEK COLLECT O God, it is your will to hold both heaven and earth in a single peace. Let the design of your great love shine on the waste of our wraths and sorrows, and give peace to your Church, peace among nations, peace in our homes, and peace in our hearts; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 14 Opportunity to Participate in Research on Why do People Start Going to Church? Michelle Bull is a third year theological student at AST and she is doing a graduate project on the subject of why people without a church background start coming to church and become involved and what that experience is like for them. Michelle is looking for adults (age 19+) who: did not have a significant church background started attending church as an adult have become involved and attended regularly for at least a year would like to discuss this experience She is looking for 5-8 people of different ages and genders to participate. Participation will involve one hour long interview and possibly a supplementary interview. Your name and information will be kept confidential. Just as the Saints Alive grew out of the former Cathedral League, the concept of a Friends of the Cathedral is seen as a logical successor to carry on the mandate of the former Cathedral League. To help our understanding of a Friends of the Cathedral, we welcome to Saints Alive the Diocesan Controller, Mr. Peter Flemming, who will address how the financial structure of a Friends of the Cathedral could look. Every year, the Cathedral runs an operating deficit. The deficit is of particular concern during the summer period when regular church attendance declines due to vacations and offerings experience a seasonal decline. Our growth has been steady over the past few years but more work remains to be done contributors (21%) $6,700 monthly contributors (24%) $7,500 monthly contributors (32%) $9,400 monthly Now 70 contributors (31%) $9,200 monthly We have clearly reached a plateau and Council has endorsed a plan that targets 40% participation by December 31st. This means we need 23 new families to enroll over the next 2 months. Whether or not I am there..my church has financial commitments every week that need my offering. My church is important to me, and so is my financial commitment to its work. That is why I use the Direct Deposit Offering system to fulfill my commitment."
