Mary Magdalene is always mentioned among them. The scene symbolizes a new creation brought about by the Resurrection of the Light of the world. The darkness suggests the darkness that covered the abyss before light first appeared. When Mary Magdalene sees the stone removed from the entrance, she runs to the disciples with the news that the Lord has been taken from the tomb! She saw him die a few days ago, and that prevents her from drawing any other conclusion. The two disciples run side by side to the tomb. Peter sees the burial cloth and the cloth that covered Jesus head, but he doesn t know how to interpret what he sees. The other disciple, the one Jesus loved and the source of this account, is the first to understand the significance of the empty tomb: The Lord has risen. For John, all those who came to believe would be loved by Jesus and would love in return. Life Focus 1. When has the funeral or wake of a friend or relative had an impact on your life? 2. When have you blamed someone and found you had wrongly accused that person? What did you do then? 3. When were your first impressions of a person or a situation proved to be wrong? 4. Have you seen a sign, a hint of the Resurrection in your life? In your family? Your community? The world? 5. Apr 28 10:00am For the Parishioners of St. Patrick s Cornelio Lepore (Luisa & Family) Deceased Members of the Quigley Family (Bill Quigley) Cecilia Okenyi (Loretta & Gus DiGioseffo) Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I am writing, with tears in my eyes to officially inform you about the demise of my beloved mother Mrs Cecilia Salome Okenyi. She died unexpectedly after a brief illness. She was 71 years old. My mother was not just a mother; she was my dad (after I lost my dad at 7years old); she was a friend and the love of my life. As I continue to struggle to accept the reality of my mother s passing, I ask you to keep me and my family in your prayers. Pray also for the repose of her soul. I will be having a memorial mass for my mother on April 22 nd 2019 (Easter Monday), 7pm at St Patrick s parish, Sudbury. God willing, I will be traveling home on April 29 th for her funeral which is scheduled for May 4 th 2019 in Nigeria. May the soul of my mother, Cecilia Salome Okenyi and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace, Amen! Would you like to expand your knowledge of quilting? Even if you are a beginner, these classes are for you. There will be a meeting on Wednesday, April 24 th at 7:00pm to determine interest, find out what is planned and what you will need. My goal is to provide a friendly and non-stressful quilting experience. A fancy sewing machine is NOT required. Quilting sessions will be held on Wednesday afternoons from 2:00 to 4:00 pm starting May 1st. Because Easter is so late this year, the spring session will be for 4 weeks only. What a beautiful Easter Triduum Thank you to 'Team Holy Week' who through their humble service to our community, caring for each other and our worship space through cathecism & evangelization, hospitality, worship enhancement, music, set-up, clean-up, preparation, rehearsals, practices, creative brainstorming, administration, and attention to details we were renewed in our Baptismal promises and immersed fully and magnificently into the Easter SEASON!! Thank you to Angelika and Linnea who worked with me to help our confirmandi prepare for the Easter Triduum and to enter into the 50-Day journey to Pentecost at our mini retreat held on Wed. Your prayers are powerful support for our youth and their parents. Some of you have asked me to read your letters before giving them to our Confirmandi and your stories and humble faith sharing brought tears to my eyes. There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament during which we will have devotions on adoration, the Litany of the Divine Mercy, ending with the Divine Mercy chaplet. 8 Development and Peace-Caritas Canada Share the Journey Solidarity WALK will take place at the Bell Park Boardwalk on Saturday, May 25th from 10am to 2pm. This event has 2 purposes: awareness of the plight of refugees being forced to flee their homes and to send a message to the Canadian government. Please mark your calendars the event will consist of an opening ceremony, a walk, a free BBQ and a closing ceremony. Free will donations will be accepted to raise funds for Development and Peace s community development programs. For more information on the Share the Journey campaign, please go to devp.org/campaign.
