HOLY MASS is prayerful gift for all occasions- birthday, wedding anniversary, death anniversary, for thanksgiving, good health, conversion, etc. Offering for May 6 was $1, which includes electronic offering of $ (Please consider Electronic Giving. Forms available at back of church) The Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere, while the Lord worked with them (Mk 16:19-20) The good news, which we must proclaim everywhere, is not that the Lord has gone up from us into heaven, but that He came to live among us in the first place and, in fact, continues to work with us. Or, even more basically, that there is a God and He actually cares about us. This is a truth that the world around us may need to hear. The Lord Jesus has shown God s love for us and invited our love in return; he has certainly not abandoned us. Let us have confidence that He supports our efforts when we try to make the message known. NEXT SUNDAY READINGS-PENTECOST Holy Father s Prayer Intentions for May 2018 That the lay faithful may fulfill their specific mission, by responding with creativity to the challenges that face the world today. May Devotion May is the month of Mary; devotion to the Blessed Mother throughout May originated in Rome in the 18 th century to counter immorality and infidelity among students at a college there. It has spread through most of the Latin Church now. Because the North American holiday of Mother's Day falls in May, Catholics take this time to recall and try to emulate Mary's role as mother. Therefore devotion to Mary in the month of May focuses both on Mary as a role model for Christian mothers, and Mary's ever lasting chastity and purity, and her fidelity to God's will.

3 Ordination to the Priesthood On Friday, 25 May 2018, Stephen DeCarlo will be Ordained a priest at the Cathedral in Peterborough, at 7:00 pm. Please plan to attend this important event, if at all possible. It is only through Ordination ceremonies like this that priests become available to our parishes. On the evening before, a Holy Hour To Know My Vocation is taking place at the Cathedral at 6:00. This will be a time to pray for Stephen, but also for light to all our young people that they might know how God is calling them. All are welcome. Young people, in particular, are encouraged to attend. A plus-sized card for Fr. Stephen DeCarlo is ready for signing this weekend and the one following. It would be a nice gesture for our parish to encourage this young man as he begins his priestly service. Start to think about what you might like to jot in this card. For many years our CWL members have been making little dresses for the thousands of young orphaned girls living at "Faith's Orphanage" in Zambia, Africa. We are asking for your help. Through donations you can sponsor a dress, which will be tagged with your name on it, showing your support for these young girls, and helping towards the cost of the supplies used to make the dresses, i.e. fabric, binding, buttons and panties. Our Catholic Women s League members will be at the doors of the Church to answer any questions and collect donations this Sunday, Mother's Day. We would appreciate your monetary support, or any dressmaking supplies you can donate. Thank you and God Bless You! St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Women s League Gospel Reflection 9:00 am THURSDAY. We reflect, discuss and meditate on the weekend gospel passage to prepare us to enter deeper into the Sacred Mystery of Christ. Legion of Mary meeting, Tuesday, May 15 3:00 pm Come pray with us! Clergy Appreciation Dinner Each year the Knights of Columbus District 29, hold a special dinner to show appreciation for all our Priests and Deacons. This year St. Paul's K. of C. Council is hosting the Clergy Appreciation Night on Sunday May 27th, 6.00pm, 7.00pm. Cost is $25.00 per person.
