Jesus calls unlikely, even unworthy people to follow him, but in response to his assurance of forgiveness, we see a generous response to the call. Even Peter, first among the apostles, is first astonished at the power of Jesus and then overcome by a sense of his own sinfulness. But Jesus overlooks Peter s protests that he is unworthy and calls him beyond that to reach out to others. Life Focus 1. Relate an experience when you felt a sense of awe or wonder. CWL National Theme CARE FOR OUR COMMON HOME 5 WEEK LENTEN MISSION Our annual Lenten Mission begins on SATURDAY, MARCH 9 th, 2019 and will run for five consecutive Saturday mornings. Priests are available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation between 8:00am and 9:00am. The first talk is presented at 9:00am by our special guest speaker, Father Patrick Okenyi, s.m.a. followed by the Saturday Eucharist with Bishop Marcel Damphousse and/or Father Gerald Lajeunesse. May God bless you and your loved ones during this new year NEW EVANGELIZATION SUMMIT Events 2019 February Gathering in Preparation for the New Evangelization Summit Fanning the Flame: Journey to the New Evangelization Summit You are invited to join us for an evening of discussion, prayer, fellowship and celebration Wednesday, February 20th 7-9 pm. (Registration starts at 6:30) at Our Lady of Hope Church, 591 Brennan Road. This is a lead-up event in preparation for the May 2019 New Evangelization Summit. Guest speaker is Fr. Raymond Akor, Fanning into Flame the Gift of God in Us. Even though you may not have even thought about the May summit, please join us for the evening. There is no cost to attend any of these events. My volunteer team and I were in Soweto Slum, Kenya last fall - our 4 th trip. Thanks to you we brought over 1500 pair of eyeglasses with us. People wait hours to be seen and we see them. Our amazing local Kenyan team provided translation services, crowd control and much more. All of us you are part of us made a difference. One person at a time. During our trip, we had many, many moments of celebration, such as when we fit the young lady and young man in the pictures with eyeglasses. Over 700 people were fitted with glasses in addition to the sunglasses and readers we brought with us. Both like so many others - suffered from significant visual impairment and were overjoyed to receive our help your help. Thank you for continuing to donate. FIRST HOLY COMMUNION AND RECONCILIATION at ST. PATRICK S PARISH: First Communion and Reconciliation registration has begun at St. Patrick s Parish. This year it is open to children in grade 2 and grade 3. Registration forms are online at under Sacraments: Our Life in Christ and His Church OR registration forms can be picked up at the Parish office or at the entrance of the Church. Registration for Sacraments are due on Sunday, March 3 rd, PERFUME & SCENT ALERT! A number of our parishioners are very sensitive to fragrances from perfumes, colognes & lotions. They can set off serious allergic reactions. We ask that people refrain from using them when coming to Masses and other events in the parish, so that all will feel welcome and safe. To the team of people who gave their gift of time to creating our annual Bedrolls for Streetkids Project experience. After a beautiful Evening Prayer liturgy for the Feast of St. John Bosco (patron saint of at-risk youth) we gathered for a short presentation on the reality of homelessness in Sudbury and learned of the many agencies and services available for our citizens who live on our streets. This year we surpassed our goal set from last year and partnering with the CWL, 11 of our young parishioners with their parents were able to create a total of 67 bedrolls out of the generous donations from our parishioners. Our Community Out Reach team are filled with gratitude for these gifts that will be distributed on the streets in the cold winter nights ahead. A special thank you to Zenaida Odense, Ken Burns, Tony Chezzi & Stephanie Manarin that helped with either co-ordinating the Bedrolls project or serving in our evening prayer liturgy.
