Yet in today s Gospel, Jesus immediately responds to a leper s request for healing. Jesus had great respect for the Law of Moses so he told the leper to fulfill the cleansing requirements by offering sacrifice and appearing before the priest. Jesus orders him to tell no one who had cured him, but the leper ignores Jesus command and tells everyone what happened. IN spite of the growing difficulties of his ministry, Jesus continues healing and preaching. He was able to proceed because people had faith in him. Life Focus 1. Jesus reaches out to these outcasts. What groups do you have the most difficulty accepting? 2. Relate a time when you were moved with compassion toward someone who was considered unclean. 3. Described a time when you recognised and accepted another s person s ability to help you. 4. Tell a time when you were or were not able to keep good news to yourself. 2 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time FASTING FROM MUSIC Starting with Ash Wednesday the Sundays of Lent music will be subdued and less exuberant: No Glory to God. No Alleluias, more simple musical settings for Holy Holy, Acclamations, Lamb of God. We fast in this way to better prepare us for the Easter Season starting March 31 st. $ IN AND OUT THE OTHER Your regular generosity to support the parish pays the bills. Last week I signed 20 cheques for a totals of $9, for such items as: Parish Staff salaries and benefits, resources for office, Diocesan tax of 15% of Sunday Collections, repairs, resources for worship, hydro and water, and the Inner City Home. Thank you for keeping us in the black!!! LENT IS COMING!! Just 10 more days for a 40 day journey of prayer and reflection about our need to keep growing in the Lord. Lent always leads us to the season of 50 days of Easter rejoicing in our risen Lord. That season begins at the coming VIGIL OF EASTER Sat. March 31 st and the solemn renewal of baptism. We have no one to baptize this coming Easter. However, the 40 days of Lent always calls us to Baptismal renewal. So, let us welcome LENT. Our Diocese will be hosting a Diocesan Catholic Youth Conference for high school students on February 24 th, 2018 at St. Mary s College in Sault Ste. Marie. The theme for this conference is Made for More and is for all students in any high school. Registration is now open and available both online and at The registration fee of $20.00 covers all materials necessary for the day, as well as both lunch and dinner. The Picture Poster of children preparing for Sacraments of Reconciliation (Confession) on Tuesday March 20 and Eucharist (Communion) on June 2nd/3 rd. There are 28 families registered. Each Sunday we will pray FOR and WITH them as we all journey together in faith. On that journey parents and children will also be taking part in a variety of other events let by our Sacrament Team: Tony Chezzi, Mary Ward & Alison Taylor. Fr. Jim, Co-ordinator INNER CITY HOME NEEDS VOLUNTEERS: These volunteer positions would entail approx. 3 hrs each/week to assist with the various services of the Home such as: - assisting in the Food Bank area packing food orders to be given out, etc.; - to act as hostess / host to greet our guests offering refreshments, snacks in the morning 10:00 a.m.to 12:00 noon, one morning a week. - To be trained to assess client needs with regards to food assistance requests. There has been a number of items dropped off at the church already. We ask that you continue to collect items but please wait until it is asked to bring them! Feb. 27 th, 2018 at 5:30 pm downstairs in the Upper Hall. Due to higher grocery costs, the dinner will now be $8. To ease the pressure on the cooks, we now sell tickets for the supper the weekend before, after the Masses on both Saturday and Sunday Feb. 24 th and Feb. 25th. The tickets are now also available at the office. Should the roads be hazardous, we will move the supper to Wed. Feb. 28 th.we will also continue to have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for half an hour before.4:45pm to 5:15 p.m. ROSERY DEVOTION AND DEVINE MERCY CHAPLET Will be held on Saturday February 17 th at 11:30am-12pm. I SEE YOU is a project based here in Sudbury - a team of nurses, technicians, doctors, and non-medical personnel who bring donated eyeglasses to Soweto Slum in Kenya twice. The project evolved from their work with an orphanage. How It Works : Glasses, lenses, are tested, identified as to strength, labelled, list made - and then brought to Kenya. ( Prescription, OTC readers, sunglasses - whether prescription or not ) For the recipients - it is their first eye exam, pair of glasses. For some - the first time they see their child, their grandchild. Please donate your old or unused glasses/sunglasses and please in the box at the front of the church labelled I SEE YOU.
