5 Junior Achievement visits our school Recently 3rd through 5th graders enjoyed, JA in a Day. Volunteers from Nokia, BP, and The Hartford taught them about financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and career readiness using Junior Achievement lessons. Each grade participated in interesting activities to reinforce the experience. In 3rd grade, the students learned about zoning and built a model city. Our 4th graders were taught about natural resources in the United States and worked together with classmates to develop a product available in different regions. To become familiar about innovation, the 5th grade students came up with ways to redesign an existing product. 6 This year s Vacation Bible School is scheduled to take place Monday Friday, June 10th- 14th from 9:00 11:45AM. Before registration can begin, we need to be assured of sufficient adult volunteers to help run the program. Adult volunteers are needed for the following areas: Wild Bible Adventures (2 needed) Help children experience the day s Bible story through interactive Activities. Stampede Sports (1-2 needed) Lead crews in awesome games that help bring home the day s Bible point. Imagination Station (2 needed) Help kids connect with Scripture using fun experiments and crafts. VBS Spotlight (2 needed) Prepare a daily slideshow of the day s events by taking photos and using them in a custom presentation. Skits Coordinator (2 needed) Work together to present each days skit, usually 2-3 minutes long. PLEASE VOLUNTEER! This is a much-loved summer activity for our parish children, but we can t have it without adult volunteers to make it possible. We need a commitment from at least six more adults by March 22nd to offer the program and have enough time to secure supplies. Diocese of Joliet Cemetery Office The Diocese of Joliet Cemetery Office is seeking to hire seasonal cemetery workers (positions available in Wheaton, Romeoville, East Joliet and Kankakee). These positions consist of the performance of seasonal work in the cemetery for the maximum period as outlined in the union contract (March through October). 7 Meet our Catholic Young Adult Sports Missionary, Anna! Anna Mann is a proud Midwestern Native born in St. Paul, MN. She graduated from the University of Mary in the other windy city of Bismarck, North Dakota in 2017 with a major in Psychology and minor in Theology. She loves going for a hike in the mountains with her husband, Brenden, when visiting family in Colorado; boat rides on any of the 10,000 lakes in Minnesota; building ridiculously huge snow-forts in the winter; and saying you-betcha to any person recognizing her Minnesota accent. Anna is also excited to bring others to authentic relationship with Jesus through the CYAS ministry in the Chicago area, one person at a time! Volunteer with us! Patrick Madrid, in his highly engaging manner, speaks from a lifetime of experience to help Catholics effectively share the truth about Christ and his Church whenever the opportunity arises. This allows these women to write to their children and other loved ones and thus, strengthen the family bond. There will be collection boxes by the Church entrance and in the Ministry Center for the following supplies: Stationery (does not need to be complete sets) Cards (blank or thinking of you ) Gallon sized Ziploc bags Postage stamps Donations to help cover delivery costs (make checks payable to Companions Journeying Together, Inc.) Bruce & Jeannie Hannemann, the founders of Elizabeth Ministry International and co-directors of RECLAIM God s Plan for Sexual Health, will present three talks: (1) Safeguarding Your Children From Pornography, (2) Brain Science of Pornography Addiction & Recovery, and (3) Links Between Pornography and Social Problems. 11 Saint Vincent de Paul The heart of Jesus preaching is the Beatitudes. They speak of basic attitudes of being and dispositions in life. Vincentians are Beatitude people: they opt for the Beatitudes that confront them with decisive choices concerning earthly goods. The Beatitudes purify their hearts in order to teach them to love God above all things. Vincentians understand Pope John Paul II s words: The Beatitudes are a call to action. Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and its patron, Saint Vincent de Paul.
