H s not fussy, and won t hold back vn if th invita on is brif, clumsy, distractd, cranky, dopy, sulln, or wird. But H dos wait for th invita on; so thr is no b r way to start your day than by invi ng Him into your day with a morning offring. It s worth praying a quick morning offring vn if it s th only prayr you say that day. I v wri n a fw ms about my liflong struggl with dprssion, which was spcially dp and dark in my tns and arly 20s. I v mn ond that Catholics should sk hlp for psychological distrss byond just trying to pray it away ; and I v wri n about how thrapy (vn scular thrapy) can b lif-changing, and so can an -dprssants and an -anxity drugs, and how hlp lik this can bring you closr to God. Nvrthlss! During that dply dark m, thr was on short priod whn prayr, just simpl prayr, mad a diffrnc, albit a small on. I startd saying, Lord, I offr this day up to you vry morning. That s it. And what happnd? I rmmbr this m as bing a sort of mdium-gray, psychologically, as opposd to th usual inky black. If I had kpt it up, who knows how much mor darknss may hav bn drivn away? Mayb I would hav had th guts to ask for hlp from somon thn, and I might hav climbd out of that pit yars soonr.
