I know that many of you will hav bn to a Sdr Mal; for m it was a nw xprinc and a most thought provoking and inspirational on! W all gathrd in th dining room at lunch tim on Holy Thursday whr vrything was st out in radinss. 4 Hr in Elmligh w ar so lucky to hav th Eastr Triduum in our own Chapl ach yar thanks to th goodwill of Fathr David, C.P. H is so adaptabl to th nds of our ag group, g allowing us to hav a brak for Suppr on Holy Saturday btwn th Liturgy of th Word and th Liturgy of th Eucharist. W ar also vry lucky to hav th xprtis of th Briry through Ann & Pat. Ann, of cours, is on hr own this yar but sh did a bautiful Liturgy for us on th vning of Good Friday and on Holy Saturday morning sh gav us a vry intrsting talk on what Holy Saturday was lik in th arly Church. Sh mphasisd th importanc of prsonally xprincing th mptinss that th discipls would hav flt whn thy found th mpty tomb. Hr talk was followd by a tim of prsonal prayr and rflction in an atmosphr of silnc which hlpd us xprinc what that mptinss was lik. 5 Rv. Brothr, Sistrs and all our gusts and frinds, by whom I man all our staff. I ll bgin by introducing my own spcial gusts: Sistr Margart, whom most of you know; Sistr Jospha; Sistr Patricia and Sistr Ann. Sistr Jospha and Sistr Patricia ar our co-jubilarians. Thr ar actually six of us who hav clbratd ovr th last wk. Sistrs Jospha, Patricia and I wnt to th sam school, Mt St Josph, in Bolton and ntrd th novitiat at th sam tim. Sistrs Ann and Margart also wnt to th sam school. Sr Ann arrivd in th novitiat a yar aftr us and Sistr Margart a yar aftr hr; and so w, and Sistr Evlyn, wr all th novitiat togthr. Aftr our Profssion of Vows w all wnt in diffrnt dirctions but mainly to study and to tachr-training in various collgs. Aftr that w wr scattrd: Sr Evlyn to Argntina, thn back to th UK and thn out to Botswana for anothr advntur. Sistr Patricia was dportd to Yorkshir and in du cours bcam a hadmistrss on prmannt playground duty in Bston. Sr Jospha bgan hr taching carr in St Anns-on-Sa. Latr sh also wnt to Yorkshir, until sh was missiond to Francistown, th most northrn Passionist Mission in Botswana. Whn sh rturnd sh again taught in Yorkshir, this tim in Dwsbury. Sistr Ann also wnt to tach in th industrial woolln towns of Yorkshir; and Sistr Margart taught for a tim in Bolton, thn bcam a hadmistrss in Ilkly, also Yorkshir; and was finally transportd to Botswana, whr for many, many yars sh happily taught in th school in th villag of Ramotswa. Nowadays Sr Jospha spnds svral days vry wk bringing Holy Communion to Catholic patints and simply visiting othrs in Bolton Gnral Hospital; Sistr Patricia works in a Tribunal of th Archdiocs of Livrpool; and Sistr Ann is a Parish Sistr in Halifax, hlping th parish prist to look aftr all th nds of th parishionrs. Last Wdnsday, 29 March, Sistr Elizabth and I disappard to our Provinc Assmbly in th Briry, Ilkly. During it w discussd how w should lik to s th Provinc rsponding to th criss of our tim. W discussd homlssnss, rfugs, asylum skrs tc. and th various agncis that th Passionist prists and ourslvs and our hlprs ar alrady associatd with in various parts of England and Irland; and I rmmbrd th knittd blankts, th tiny knittd clothing for prmatur babis and th othr itms that our nurss, carrs and othr staff hlp our Sistrs to produc and to tak to thos in nd. Our Sistrs hr ar no longr abl to run round th playgrounds of Yorkshir or th dsrt of Botswana but with your hlp thy can still contribut to th wlfar and happinss of th ndy around us. Jubil, 1 April 2017 I should lik to say to Anna and to all our staff how much w apprciat thir loving car, thir attntion to dtails and, on my own part, th chrful Good night and God blss, whn I com ovr hr at night, from nurss and carrs who ar going to b awak all night; and thir qually chrful Good morning whn I appar th following day. It is in this contxt that w should lik to rgard you, too, as our Passionist hlprs. You do, of cours, hav your own familis and houss to attnd to, with all that that involvs and you possibly nvr think of us whn you ar not hr! Nvrthlss, you might lik to think of yourslvs, in part of your livs, as associats of th Sistrs of th Cross and Passion, showing somthing, as you do, of that lov and mrcy that Our Lord showd in His Lif and in His Passion, Dath and Rsurrction. Finally, my gusts and I thank you most sincrly for th wondrful clbration you hav workd so hard to prpar for us today to mark our Jubils. I know that Janntt has bn working round th clock.
