But thr is nvr an idal tim; you can nvr say you r 100 prcnt rady. Far and uncrtainty ar always with us. In lif, w can t count on pac of mind, and as soon as w st our prioritis, w nvr hav nough tim. A good chang W hn w ar sick, w go to a doctor bcaus w want to gt bttr. W can go to svral spcialists and spnd larg sums of mony to b diagnosd corrctly. If our mntal and motional lif is not fully oprational, if w know w carry a load w can barly manag, why do w not fight for ourslvs? T hr sms to b a blif that only popl who hav a problm with thmslvs go to thrapy. But who dosn t hav problms? Why do w think it s bttr to lay low and dal with problms alon? Why do w car what othrs think? It s a sham that mor of us don t viw thrapy as an opportunity to work out diffrnt situations in our livs to bcom a frr and happir popl. I can rlat. I usd to b ashamd of my problms. In th world of widsprad prssur to succd, to b prfctly organizd and b unblmishd by mistaks, how was I supposd to show that I m wak, mssd up, and in nd of support? No on wants to show thir waknsss publicly. Aftr all, it sms lik failur. But whn I finally dcidd to go to thrapy, I flt satisfid that I had takn a stp forward, that I was not just stuck, standing in plac. I dcidd I wantd a bttr lif and that I didn t want my futur to b dtrmind by what had happnd to m in th past. W ar all wak I didn t know how it would b would talking about my xprincs cost m a lot? Would I trust th thrapist? Would I cry at vry sssion? As it was, somtims I crid, and somtims I didn t want to go bcaus it was difficult. I had to fac my angr, grif, and sns of loss bcaus I didn t hav th lif I had dramd of. W hn your world is organizd a crtain way, you don t want to hav it all fall apart. But at thrapy, you find out that th world is not quit so organizd aftr all. Thanks to thrapy, I m bringing a diffrnt ordr to my world again, from a diffrnt prspctiv, with nw idas and th hop that I can handl it. I hav nvr rgrttd my dcision. E ach of us is brokn somwhr in th middl. W all hav problms. Thos who don t say it out loud ar not fr from thm. W don t hav to com from a dysfunctional family to xprinc it. So many popl hid thir grif, lonlinss, and pain undr covr of fak smils, luxury, and photos on Facbook. B ut w shouldn t prtnd that nothing has happnd, that it s normal, it s just th way it is, and that thr is no rason to ropn old wounds. W nd to talk about th fact that not vrything is okay. W nd to brak th blif that w ar indstructibl and prfct. W ar not. Bst invstmnt T hrapy will not chang vryon around you. It will not chang your nvironmnt and it will not chang th past. But it will chang you. It will chang your approach so you can liv your lif, so far dosn t hav th last word. It s th bst thing you can do for yourslf and for your spous, your childrn, your frinds. Thrapy is an invstmnt, not anothr problm and unncssary xpns. A psychologist is not going to fix you. H or sh will hlp you follow a path that will b prhaps lss tortuous than th on you v takn so far.
