Now that I v graduatd from th Nw Lif Fllowship Program I plan to find ways to giv back and continu to grow my faith. What w assumd was simply a mn s shltr and soup kitchn matrializd into so much mor. Thy offr saf shltr for womn and childrn, familis in transition and mn rcovring from pattrns of incarcration. Thy hav so many aras of potntial involvmnt that voluntring bcoms uniquly focusd on fusing opportunity with prsonal passion. Each day w srvd w wr liftd up and ncouragd by thos w onc thought had so littl to offr, and in giving, w rcivd mor profoundly than w could hav vr prdictd. It s somthing you hav to xprinc firsthand. W ar proud of th aid our partnrship has providd, but I think w ar most proud of th chang that occurrd within us through voluntring. W v larnd to smil rathr than look away. Hoping thy would s up clos what rally gos on bhind thos doors, w loadd up a van full of Mid-Willamtt Vally ladrs for a surpris lunch at th Mission. Thr is nothing lik haring th story of a rdmd lif. W firmly bliv homlssnss is an issu th church has bn calld to addrss. As w v bcom mor ngagd with UGM, vn byond just writing a chck, w v bcom mor ngagd in living out our own mission as wll. Aftr discovring all that UGM has to offr ovr th yars, it shouldn t surpris us that w ar on track to mt our ambitious fundraising goal. Th rspons was so powrful bcaus w bliv in UGM and th work thy do... and kping th Walk for Hop trophy for a third straight yar rally didn t hurt ithr. But Walk for Hop is not just an vnt. Evry day th popl at UGM ar taking individuals who nd hlp and walking with thm from th strt cornr to a functional plac in socity.
