Tomaslli I was rading a story a whil ago that mad m stop and think about our summr camps, Zacchaus and Timothy, Francin Swop, th Coordinator of Youth Ministry, Rligious Education, and Sacramntal Prparation, said. Sh said, it is th ssnc of what w ar trying to achiv with our young popl through all of our programs in addition to our summr camps. Th articl, sh said, discussd how important it is for our young popl to know th facts about Jsus so thy will nvr doubt thir faith. Kids nd to know Jsus. Thy nd to know who H was, what H did, and what H mans to us today. A child s rlationship with Jsus Christ is th numbr on prdictor of thir long-trm commitmnt to thir faith. If kids do not know in thir harts that Jsus is th Son of God, and know and accpt th unconditional lov H has for thm, thy will listn to th critics, bnd to pr prssur, and thy will doubt th cor of thir faith. Camp Timothy, to b hld Jun 17-21, is for high school studnts ntring grads nin to 12, and nwly graduatd sniors. Camp Zacchaus offrs two wk-long sssions; July 21-27; and July 29 - August 3. Th camp is for boys and girls ntring grads 4 to 9 as of Sptmbr Both camps ar hld at Camp Squanota in Jnnrstown, PA. Th Sistrs of Charity of Ston Hill, th Sistrs of Saint Josph of Badn, th Sistrs of th Immaculat Hart of Mary, th Sistrs of th Holy Family of Nazarth, can count only on or two Sistrs in our local Church, whr onc thy could b countd by th dozns. How can our parishs, schools and ministris crat a cultur of voluntrs? In what ways could w mak voluntring mor attractiv? Could it b as simpl as asking somon to hlp? Absolutly! Might it includ trritorialism or cliqus or using rligious trminology that othrs don t undrstand? Othr challngs that can turn off prospctiv voluntrs ar vnts and activitis that ar disorganizd, hav confusing dirctions, limitd training, limitd orintation, or lack of support from th organization's ladrship. Voluntring should b a positiv xprinc, if somon wants to voluntr that mans thy want to do somthing.
