2 TRIUMPH OF THE CROSS PARISH COMMUNITY NEWS MASSES: The Diocese of Steubenville, Bishop Jeffrey M. Monforton announced he will celebrate Masses for couples with significant wedding anniversaries. Bishop Monforton has scheduled the Jubilee of Marriage Anniversary Masses on the following dates: November 17-5:15 p.m. - St. Lawrence, Ironton, OH November 18-12:00 (Noon) - Basilica, Marietta, OH November 18-5:30 p.m. - Holy Family Church EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: Could not you watch one hour with me? (Matthew 26:40). Hours needed to be filled are: Monday 1:00 a.m. & 2:00 a.m., and Saturday 2:00 a.m.. We are also in desperate need for OCCASIONAL night-time subs. Walking With Christ - Saturday, October 27th Holy Family Church - Steubenville WALKING WITH CHRIST: Living Discipleship through the Theology of the Body. The day includes Holy Mass and inspirational presentations by nationally-known authors and speakers. Registration is $25 per person - $35 per couple (after October 15); and $10 (for students). We are preparing Thanksgiving Food Baskets for those in need and we need your help. We are asking for the following nonperishable items to be donated for the baskets: green beans, boxed potatoes, cranberry sauce, pie crust, yams, corn, stuffing, gravy, pumpkin pie filling and evaporated milk. Indulgences - November 1-8 An indulgence is granted the Christian faithful who devoutly visit a cemetery and pray, if only mentally, for the dead. This indulgence is applicable only to the souls in purgatory. A plenary indulgence can be gained on each one of these days. On other days of the year this indulgence is a partial one. MARCH FOR LIFE Each year the Archdiocese of Washington organizes a Youth Rally and Mass for Life on the morning of the national March for Life. This year's the event will be held on Friday, January 18, Tickets are required for this event. Tickets are free but must be requested through the chancery. The event will be held at the Capital One Arena. The doors will open at 6:15 a.m and Mass will begin at 8:30 am. November Lecture Series - Franciscan University The following lectures will be held in the month of November. Boxes packed with essentials and fun are given to children in underdeveloped countries at Christmastime. The 2018 recipients are children from the ages of 2 to 14 years old that live in Haiti, Guatemala and Nicaragua. Please take a box at the church entrance this weekend and return it filled as soon as possible with a $9.00 check (no cash) in the envelope provided. Choose gifts to fill each box that will bring joy to a child: small toys, hygiene items, school supplies, socks, flip flops, shorts, underwear, hair ribbons, bandanas, shoe laces, water bottles. BLESSING OF THE CHILD IN THE WOMB: Expectant families awaiting the birth of their child are invited to receive a special Blessing of a Child in the Womb at 1:00 PM on Sunday, October 21st at Holy Rosary Church. The introduction to this Rite observes that the blessing of an unborn child sustains the parents by imparting grace and comfort in time of concern and need, unites the parish in prayer for the unborn child, and fosters respect for human life within society. The text of the Rite for the Blessing of a Child in the Womb has been approved by the Vatican and by the USCCB. Timothy Cardinal Dolan, USCCB President, authorized its use in the liturgy as of March 26, 2012, the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord.
