2 TRIUMPH OF THE CROSS PARISH COMMUNITY NEWS DIOCESE OF STEUBENVILLE HELP with LAMP Thanksgiving Preparations. Our parish is putting on our Annual Meal, reaching out to the poor in Steubenville on Saturday, November 19th. We want to make it a special meal, so we're looking for help from anyone who would like to donate homemade apple, pumpkin, or pecan pies for the event. Please contact Sr. Maria Clare at or srmariaclare@torsisters.org Thank you in advance for your service. PANCAKE BREAKFAST: NEW DATE! The KofC St. John Neumann Council #11828 will be hosting a fundraising Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, November 13th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. after the Sunday Masses at St Peter Church hall. This breakfast is held for a new apostolate, Friends of Retired Priests which is a local group dedicated to the prayerful support, and when appropriate, helpful works, for the retired priests of the Diocese of Steubenville. We are laity working under an auxiliary membership in the Family of Jacopa Association (A Public Association of the Christian Faithful in the Diocese of Steubenville). With this fundraiser we hope to raise enough funds to provide the local retired priests with a wonderful Christmas dinner in December. The Sisters of Jacopa are members of the Triumph of the Cross Parish. VOCATIONS HOLY HOUR: Statewide Holy Hour for Vocations is Wednesday, November 9th, from 7:00-8:00 p.m., organized by Fr. PROJECT RACHEL: Post Abortion Healing Ministry is looking for leadership in our diocese. It is a network of priests, religious, counselors, and laypersons who provide a team response of care. In February 2017 we will be celebrating 20 years of our Eucharistic Perpetual Adoration in Steubenville. But in the recent months we have been experiencing a decrease in the number of faithful adorers because some passed away or are now too old or sick to be able to continue. For this reason our adoration chapel needed to close on Wednesdays, and now could be also on Thursdays. We have 48 hours to be filled from Wed. 8 AM to Fri. 8 AM. The hours after midnight are the more difficult to fill even though many find that a quiet and personal time with Our Lord. The situation is worse during the winter months because some of the adorers move south temporarily for health reasons. We think that some potential new adorers are not aware of the situation. We adore Our Eucharistic Lord to honor God and it is also a personal spiritual benefit for the adorers. Adorers also pray for our Diocese and the whole Church, especially for religious vocations and suffering people. 4 Charismatic Mass and Healing Prayer A Charismatic Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 10th at 7:00 p.m. in the Father of Mercy Chapel at the Motherhouse of the Franciscan Sisters, TOR located at 369 Little Church Road, Toronto, OH Father Dave Pivonka TOR, an internationally known speaker and author, will be the celebrant.
