1 Global History 10 Honors Summer Assignment Below are the details of your required summer assignment. There are three parts in total. SO IN TOTAL: Part 1 complete a bio on each of the important historical figures from the categories listed below using the attached bio sheet for each historical figure (there are 3 figures per category and 4 categories = 12 bios in total). You may use ANY resource to fill out the bio sheets however, be aware of your sources (Wikipedia is a great resource but not the most reliable at times use multiple sources for each bio). Part 2 choose one historical figure from each of the below categories and write a first person perspective detailing why that historical figure you chose is the most important figure of that category (4 categories = 4 perspectives). You are to use the facts gathered in the bio part of the assignment to assist in writing. Use the facts gathered to support the person s argument on why they are the most important historical figure in their category. First-person perspectives should be a minimum of 1 page in length (12 pt -Times New Roman or Calibri font, normal margins) and MUST BE TYPED. Part 3 For the remaining 2 historical figures per category you must write a first person perspective counter-argument for the person chosen in Part 2. You must explain detial why the person you chose is NOT the most important historical figure of that category from the perspective of the remaiing people in that category. Again, the facts gathered in the bio part of the assignment should be used to support your arguments. The counter-arguments should be ½ page to 1 full page, typed (12 pt -Times New Roman or Calibri font, normal margins) for each of the other people remaining in the category. 12 bios, one for each person in the assignment. 4 most important perspectives, 1 for each category. 8 counter arguments, 1 for each of the remaining persons in each category. Students that fail to complete this assignment may be dropped from the class in September
2 Important things to consider while completing the assignment For Part 1: Use as many facts and details as you can find. The more facts and details you fill out in the bio section the easier part 2 and part 3 will be to complete. For Part 2: ALWAYS SUPPORT IDEAS WITH FACTS! The key to any great social studies writing assignment is the ability to support an idea with as many facts as are available. Practice this policy in this part of the assignment. For Part 3: same as part 2. Remember, you re writing from the perspective of the historical figures that were NOT chosen as most important in each of the categories (4 categories, 2 remaining figures per category = 8 counter-arguments in total). DUE DATE: This assignment will be due on Wednesday September 12 th, There is a google classroom setup entitled: Global 10H Summer Assignment Class Code: b0ruq2 The assignment is posted to the classroom and must be completed and submitted on google classroom no expections!
