WEIRD NOTES Rudy Love Howard & Clyde the Camel Well another month has come and gone. Weather here at the oasis is better even though we had to drop our tent flaps a few night, then pull out the rain gear. By the time this is read Shrinersfest will have come and gone as well as spring ceremonial, both which were a roaring success. GLSOBA is fast approaching. Lets everyone please continue to attend practice, make a really great showing and win some competition. In doing so showing our continued support of President Charlie Anderson. Just a short note to let everyone know that Rudy Love survived the triple bypass surgery, must have been the traveling plant, six visitors, eight phone calls and countless prayers that brought me through. Mending time is going to take a lot longer than I thought. Thanks to all who worked Shrinersfest. You are so appreciated. I am issuing a Fatima alert, Clyde and I have seen her and she is really looking hot after her winter in the tropics. Thanks Pres. Tony and Vice Pres. Larry and their ladies for a great ladies night. We couldn't have done it with out you. Oh and the food was great too. In closing lets remember to attend. Practice support Pres. Charlie and Director Randy. Sell those ads, sell those onions and attended any events at our shrine. Remember to pray for divine blessings and healing for all Nobles and their families. And above all, those brave women and men who are laying it on the line every day so we can continue to live in the Land of the Free because of the brave. Till Next Time, Rudy Love & Clyde the Camel HOSPITAL STAFF By Jack Benjamin A big THANK YOU to Richard and Linda Cumbee for donating a large Editorial without Words statue on behalf of Hadi Hospital Staff to the St. Louis Hospital. 3 MARINERS WAVES By: Dwain Mullen / Secretary dwainm@issi.us From Commodore Cory Hollingsworth, the Bridge and Mariners membership, we would like to welcome all new Hadi Nobles that came into the Temple May 1st. The Mariners extend an open invitation to all new nobility who want to join Hadi s Number 1 Cooking Team! We have Hadi s only River Camp and meet the third Wednesday of every month. For all the new nobles who want to jump aboard and set sail with us in our journeys, the Commodore is waiving first year dues. Dues are $20 yearly and will be due in January The Mariners can always use a few good cooks and sailors. Welcome aboard to all who have already joined. It s time again for parade season. The Mariners parade in a boat and a trolley. We ride; we don t march in the parades! All new nobles are welcome aboard. Come check us out & see why we have such a rewarding and good time parading. Hope to see you there! May was a busy month for the club. Thanks to all the Mariners for all the great participation. Thanks go out to Bill and Butch for April s dinner and to Pat and Wendell for the new camp flags. Also want to thank D. Duck and M. Mouse for being with us at April s meeting. Selling Season is still with us! Keep those eyes and ears open for new prospects for new ad sales. The commissions we earn from these sales give our club much needed revenue. Please call Commodore Cory Hollingsworth with any questions. We do not want to leave any Mariner behind on shore this year! The Mariners want to also remember our fallen & sick members. The Mariners continued focus is and always will be to give a 100% in any job we take on and generate revenue for our club to help our great temple. Our mission is to proudly display Having Fun, Helping Kids! Come jump in the boat of old memories and friendships and see what the buzz is about! Mariners voyage continues to be exciting! Be a part of it. Don t Miss the Boat I Am Proud To Be A Shriner! DRUM CORPS BLASTS By Jerry Minto Greetings Nobles from the members and friends of the Hadi Drum & Bugle Corps. The Vidalia Onion sale should now be completed, so make sure you have your orders delivered & money collected and turned in. The onion chairman thanks you very much. Mother Nature was not so cooperative on the first parade of the season. The Spring Ceremonial on May 1 st was rained out but a hardy group from the D & B performed in concert formation for the new candidates. Thanks to all who participated. Due to the deadline of having this article turned in, I reported that everyone had a great time at the Ladies Night held in May. Well, if you did not have a great time you will have another chance since the celebration was cancelled. The Ladies Night is now scheduled for July 16 th. More information will be forthcoming. Now is the time to look for new Nobles to join our unit. Make every effort to greet the new Nobles and invite them to join us. It is not too early to be thinking about the Great Lakes Shrine Association Ceremonial which will be held in Rockford, Illinois on September 23 rd through the 25 th. A sign up sheet is located in the Unit room. Thanks to everyone who put in many hours at the Shrinersfest. It is getting bigger and better every year. The D & B was well represented at the dinner honoring the Imperial Potentate s visit. The evening was very enjoyable. The month of June is the beginning of the parade season so make sure you say YES when you receive your call. Let s make every effort to make this a great parade season. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Annual Paper Crusade which was held on May 29, This is a great way of informing the public about the fine work being done at our Hospitals. Hope to see everyone at the stated meeting on June 11 th and to do this again next month and bring you the past and future happenings of your Hadi Drum & Bugle Corps. 5 DRUM and BUGLE CORPS WINS! By Phil Smith Gentlemen, Ill. Sir Steve noted at our May meeting that he would like to see the Patrol have a good turn out for the parades. It is a great way to let the public know what we are all about. Come to the parades and support the Patrol and Capt. Paul Sowders P.P. We want to make him Proud as???? Well, most of you can fill in the blank. The Arab Patrol always remembers our sick members. Know that our thoughts are with you and we hope to see you soon. Let s all continue to pray for our soldiers, these men and women are out in the field protecting our freedom! Commit to be active in your unit! HAVING FUN & HELPING KIDS I AM PROUD TO BE A SHRINER This past Stated Meeting had a little extra surprise for those that attended. A new Traveling Attendance Trophy was unveiled during the meeting. For the rest of the year, the UCO that has the most members attend a Stated Meeting will win the Trophy to display until the next Stated Meeting. Congratulation go out to the Drum and Bugle Corps for having the largest number of members at Aprils Stated Meeting. Good luck to the other UCO s on taking up the challenge for the next Stated Meeting. See you all then! PATROL POINTS By: Sam Katz / Secretary~ slktheman@wowway.com Thanks to all of you that helped out with the Shrinersfest activities. This event takes a lot of time, planning and manpower. It s great to see the Patrol pull together and pitch in for the Shrinersfest event. The Shrinersfest profit provides a huge unbudgeted boost of income to the Hadi Temple general fund. There were a lot of award winning cars on display. Let s look forward to next year and continue to support this effort. It is a great way to get involved with the public and spread the word about Shriners and the fun we have while helping kids. A BIG THANKS to all of the Patrolmen that helped out at the Paper Crusade on May 29. It is great for us to get out and share our philanthropy with the public. So many of them do not realize what we do for the children. We need to continue working FULL THROTTLE on our circus ad sales. Protected ads will be up for grabs mid June. We can not stress how important it is, IF YOU HAVE AD SALES THAT YOU HAVE NOT OR CAN T APPROACH THIS YEAR, CALL ONE OF THE OFFICERS SO WE CAN SECURE THE AD. Guys, selling ads is a huge commission income opportunity for the Patrol. This income also takes care of the upfront expenses for the circus. Ad sales close toward the end of July. The Great Lakes Shrine Association Ceremonial Session will be in Rockford, Illinois September Please let us know if you can attend so we can start planning transportation needs.
