8 Drum Corps Blasts Directors In Action BY: Jerry Minto Legion of Honor By Curran Wilkinson, Adjutant Greetings from Hadi Shriner s Armed Forces Veterans, the Legion of Honor. Spring has sprung, after a harsh February everyone is ready to enjoy warmer days and more pleasant evenings. Since we at Hadi LOH will be hosting the 41st Annual Great Lakes Shrine Association Legion of Honor Convention in August 2016, there is a lot of work being done in preparation for this event. The Hadi LOH Nobles and their ladies are looking forward to hosting the convention and are making plans for many great things to take place, never forgetting we are Veterans, Masons, and Shriners and are going all out to conduct ourselves as such. While we are talking about conventions, this year s GLSA LOH Convention will be held in Fort Wayne, Indiana, hosted by Mizpah Shrine LOH, commanded by Paul Barker. We are hoping to have as many nobles and ladies from Hadi LOH to attend as possible. If you are planning to attend the convention in August of 2015 and you are an Emeritus member or past officer, you are required to register with and be certified by the adjutant of Hadi LOH who must have completed form in the hands of GLSA LOH adjutant three weeks prior to the convention dates of August 6th through 9th, Your cooperation in this matter would be greatly appreciated by all concerned. We meet the 4th Monday, unless otherwise indicated, on the third floor at Hadi Shrine, at 7:30 P. M. You are invited to bring your lady and dine with them in the Red Fez restaurant prior to the meeting. We invite all armed services veterans or active military to join us as we meet each month. Remember, it is an honor to belong to the Legion of Honor. LOVE to the Rescue The lovely season of Spring is now upon us (we hope) and with the blooming flowers and growing grass comes parade season. Let s get those horns, drums, cymbals and uniforms in tip top shape for the upcoming season. It might not be a bad idea to come down for a little practice to work out the winter kinks. We want to thank Jim Scheller for his work in coordinating the effort to cook sausage for the YMCA Pancake Days. Also, thanks to everyone who helped and to Hadi Shrine for the use of the kitchen and cooking equipment. A large number of D&B members and their ladies had a very enjoyable time at the Potentate s Ball and the Friday evening hospitality. This is always one of the top events of the year. We need each member to line up your orders for the onion sales. This fund-raiser benefits not only your Shrine but also your unit. The Circus Ad Kickoff is now in full swing so be sure and line up those ads for this years circus book. Our Stated Meeting for April will be held on Friday, April 10th. Hope to see everyone there! Hope to do this again next month and bring you the past and future happenings of your Hadi Drum & Bugle Corps. Mariners Waves Commodore Jim Scheller and his bridge would like to personally invite all Mariners to the official 2015 opening of the Mariners River Camp. Come join us April 15th to kick off a great year at the camp. Festivities will include a steak dinner, camels milk and live entertainment. Please reserve your spot by calling Bob or Jim A One Call will follow with updated details prior to the event. We look forward to the fun and fellowship, see you there! Greetings from the Hot Seat! Time has been flying by and we are off and running. This is always a busy time of year for us and we are in FULL swing. With a few events behind us we move straight ahead to our next adventure. First off I want to make a correction from February s Hot Sands, our Secretary for this year is David COY Bevins. I might of misspelled his name but I m gonna blame it on auto correct. Sorry bout that David. We started this year with a very TOP SE- CRET project. I want to give a very special TIP OF THE FEZ to our Vice President, Tim Ray for heading up this project and for all his hard work. Next I would like to give the clap to Scott Young and the entire Directors Staff on the BB gun spot shoot. Thanks to everyone who turned out for a fun filled afternoon and supported our club. We would like to say Congratulations again to Illustrious Sir Kenny Mitz and First Lady Debbie. We had a great time UNDER THE BIG TOP. I appreciate all the help from start to finish by the Directors Staff. With all that in the rear view mirror our sights are set on ALEE Shrine Temple in Savannah Georgia. It s the shrine Directors Association s National Convention. Shrine temples from across the world will be represented. There will be meetings and events for all Nobles and their ladies. The highlight for the guys is the stunt competition in which we placed 5th last year out of 34 temples. Hadi shrine Temple has been awarded the honor of hosting this convention in the year Later on this month it s time to break out the Almost Famous Diggetydogs Hot Dog Cart. We will be at the Franklin Street Bazaar and Color Run on the grounds of the Library. Fun for the whole family. Drop by and say HI and support the Dog Pound! We still have a lot of work to do with Ceremonial right around the corner. We hope to have a few new surprises for the new Spring class of Nobles. Nothing like hearing the sound of someone yelling PROUD TO BE A SHRI- NER! Wow, and that s just through the first four months...there s much much more to come. If you have any questions, contact me at any time. The Directors meet on the first Wednesday of each month. Come see what all the BUZZ is about. We would love to have you come to one of our meetings or outings. Keep up all the good work brothers! JUST ONE MORE THING... Don t forget to push membership! It is a vital part of the Temple and longevity. There is not ONE problem that your unit, club or organization is experiencing that couldn t be solved by membership.

The exact hour of all other meetings, including the annual meeting shall be designated by the Potentate. Ken Mitz, Potentate Kenny Cooper, Recorder OFFICIAL NOTICE!! Hadi Shrine Special Called Meeting Tuesday, April 28, :15 p.m. Notice is hereby given that a SPECIAL CALLED MEETING of Hadi Shriners will be held at Hadi Temple on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 for the purpose of withdrawing funds from the Building Fund to repair or replace the grease trap in the Red Fez to bring it to new city ordinance code. ARTICLE 3.3 TEMPLE MEET- INGS & CEREMONIALS SPECIAL MEETINGS. Special meetings may be called by the Potentate at any time, but notice must be given to each member stating the business to be considered and no other business than that specified in the call may be transacted, as governed by the bylaws of Shriners International. Please plan to attend, Arab Patrol Terry Joe Wolf Secretary 2015 terryjwolf@yahoo.com Top of the mourning to all fellow Patrol-men, I Know everyone is tired of the cold weather remember spring is just around the corner. To all that attended the Potentates Ball, a good time was had by all. It was a beautiful event, special thanks go out to Illustrious Sir Ken Mitz and his Lady Debbie you are a great Inspiration to us all. Our monthly meeting in March was well attended thanks to all who came out. We need to finalize the number of onions the club will be buying, so get out there and sell them. Remember the final order date is coming soon. The Mardi Gras parade was a canceled due to cold weather I am sure no one was disappointed but keep yourself informed of upcoming events. Make Plans now to join our Illustrious Sir on his Trip to Branson it will be a great time. Remember to visit the RED FEZ for some great food. Some events that are upcoming: Masonic one day class, Stated Meeting, Spring Ceremonial, so consult your Hot Sands for dates and times. On another note our Patrol breakfast was a success and we had a large turnout from various clubs. I would like to thank all that attended, especially all the club members that helped in the preparation of the meal and a special thanks to the entire Divan who showed up. Remember all the Nobles that for one reason or another cannot attend temple events due to health problems, give them a call, send them a card, or better yet go visit them lift a brother s spirit!so until we meet again remember PROUD TO BE A SHRINER! Hospital Staff By Ron Higgs I want to thank Jack Benjamin for his many years as the Hospital Staff & Hadi Temple Coordinator. Replacing Jack will be difficult, however, with his guidance I will try to live up to his high standards. As many Shriners may not know, the Hospital Staff is an organization that is the same as all Units, Clubs & Organizations (UCO s) of Hadi Temple. The Hospital Staff should never be considered as the Hadi Temple Transportation Staff or commonly referred to as the Transportation Fund. The Transportation Fund is a tax deductible fund that receives charitable donations for the associated costs of ensuring our Shrine Kids are able to be treated at our hospitals, regardless of their ability to pay. The Hospital Staff is honored to be able to fulfill all Shriners obligation ensuring our Shrine Kids have access to our hospitals. All money associated with this opportunity are funded with the Transportation Fund through your generous donations. The Hospital Staff has over 250 members, most of which belong to other UCO s. We have over 60 dedicated drivers transporting our Shrine Kids to and from our 4 hospitals. A BIG thank you to our drivers and officers for your continued support and dedication to the Hospital Staff and most importantly to our Shrine Kids! The weather continues to wreck havoc with our hospital appointments with over 30% being canceled due to road conditions. 10 Honored Ladies Once again, ice & snow caused the cancellation of the Hadi Honored Ladies Luncheon. Therefore, we did not meet in February. We had hoped to help Juanita Broughman celebrate her 95th birthday which was the day of our scheduled meeting so a card was sent from the group. There was to be the election of officers so that was done at the March 16th meeting. Georgia Miller was the hostess. She presented an interesting program on Bees & Honey. She planned the menu around this topic so each table had a jar of honey to use as a spread on their rolls and a honey based sauce was served with the pork loin entree. She also provided some door prizes. Officers were installed by Nancy Markham. President: Nancy Clem and Treasurer: Jackie Arman graciously accepted a second year in those positions. The next meeting will be April 20th. President Nancy Clem will not be there so Past President Nancy Markham has agreed to preside. It will be our annual White Elephant Auction so everyone is asked to bring a gift for this event. Nancy Markham will be the auctioneer. This is our annual fundraiser so plan to bid often & high! Nancy Markham & Jerry Brenner will be the hostesses. Again, we would like to extend an invitation to any eligible widow to join us for an afternoon of food, fun & fellowship. If you are not on a list contacted by the calling committee and you would like to join us, call Jackie Arman, no later than April 14th. Hadi Motor Belles Michael W.
