2 2 MEMBERSHIP REPORT Betsy Rothwell - Membership Chair We had 70 members at the January meeting. We had one new member application, Dale Aris, approved at the January Management Team meeting. Dale hopes to be at our April Probus meeting. We have 188 members at the beginning of If you have friends who would like to join Probus, we have 12 openings, so it s a good time to apply. The application form is on the Probus of Huntsville website - in the Contact Us tab. Please don t forget to look for the red dot on name tags of our new members, and take a moment to introduce yourself and welcome them to our club. Management Committee members will have a green dot on their badge. Badges for new members can be picked up from the desk at the door. Please remember to wear your name tag. If you keep it in the glove box of your car you will always have it handy. CARE BEAR REPORT Margaret Masterson Reporter If you have any information (such as operations, death of close family members or even the birth of grandchildren), please let me know. Photography Our next Probus Photo Group session will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday February 28. Barb and l will be hosting it at 1077 Precambrian Drive -- which exits west off of Highway 35 about 8 kms south of Dorset at the north end of the Wren Lake Bridge. Ken Koehler Our theme will be "Macro Mysteries!" This is an opportunity to see how close up we can get to "stuff" -- both indoors and outdoors -- and challenge the others to figure out "...what is that, really"! Warm-up and bowling: 3:30 to 5:30 PM, Social Hour/Dinner: 5:30-7:30 PM 5 Dinner: Cost: Buffet style, Roast Beef, oven browned potatoes, glazed carrots, pickle tray, salad, dessert, tea/coffee, water. Paper plates will not be used. $30 per person which includes two games of bowling, equipment rental, dinner, tax and gratuity. If we are able to sell 48 tickets, then the function will be private and restricted to our Probus group only. Both five and ten pin bowling will be available. Tickets for Probus Events are sold between: 9:15 9:55 a.m. and also at coffee break until 10:55 a.m. You can pay for these events by cash or cheques. (Separate cheques for each event). We will reimburse money paid for an event due to cancellation by the member to the extent that there is no cost to the club. We encourage members to organize events (such as lunches, trips, etc.), but due to insurance reasons all events must be cleared through the events chair(s) and approved by the Management Team before members can be contacted or tickets can be sold at meetings. Members organizing events may contact John McCaig at globalskate@sympatico.ca with details of the luncheon /event and he will print the tickets for you if you wish. Please allow 14 days prior to required date. Probus Huntsville Web Site and Newsletter Over the next few months you will see some changes to the newsletter. We are hoping to include pictures of events and other information of interest to our members. Ultimately the newsletter will migrate to our website.
