I hope everyone has had a great summer and can now look forward to some beautiful fall weather. This is the month (Sept) that the Great Lakes Ceremonial will be held in Rockford, IL. This is always a fun time and more will be reported about this activity in next month s newsletter. A big Thank You goes to the members who marched in the Owensville parade on July 31 st. The weather was great and the D & B drummers and horn players performed in their usual fine manner. Another Thank You goes to Jack Lilkens for hosting the party at his camp on Lynnville Lake. Jack has done this for many years and the Divan members and D & B members enjoyed the food and fellowship and wish to thank him for his hospitality. As you read this the Hadi Family Picnic is now history. The D & B was well represented at this activity and everyone enjoyed the food, fellowship and beautiful facility. It is almost time to start selling those tickets for the upcoming circus. Let s make every effort to support your circus by selling as many tickets as possible. Remember the following dates in September: 10 th D & B stated meeting, 20 th Potentate s Golf Outing, 23 rd -25 th GLSA. Hope to do this again next month and bring you the past and future happenings of your Hadi Drum & bugle Corps. HOSPITAL STAFF By Jack Benjamin Frank Nolte is the TeleMedicine Coordinator and also has another very important job. He sends out Thank You letters and also letters to the family to notify them about who made donations in memory of their loved ones. THANK YOU Frank for your service to the Transportation Fund. Bobbie Jo Wright, the child being carried by the Shriner, was asked to come to the St. Louis Hospital to be interviewed. She was taken over to the Hospital in one of our vans. They treated her like the celebrity she is. We are terribly sorry about the snafu in our mailing for the dinner at the Log Inn. We don t know what happened that some of you did not get your letter. We will be very watchful to our next mailing. The Captains Dinner (Stag) will be held at German Township Booster Club on September 21. See you there. A donation of 3 Wheel bicycles to the `Hospital Staff ~ will be given to Shrine Kids that can use them. What is not given to the kids will be sold for $50 to $75 each and the money will benefit the Hospital Transportation Fund and the Toy Run. 3 PATROL POINTS By: Sam Katz / Secretary~ slktheman@wowway.com Greetings Patrolmen! Mark your calendars now for the Fall Festival. We will be setting up the trailer early in the morning on October 3rd. We need some help getting the trailer set up and ready to go for the Fall Festival on Oct 4 Oct 9. Gentlemen, not to be repetitive, but we would also like to see some of you that have not been around, come down and help man the trailer that week. Put it on your book now so you can help out the Patrol. One last thing about the Fall Festival, the parade will be on October 9 th. We need your participation for this parade. We need over 20 Patrolmen on the street marching for this parade. Don t think it won t matter if you don t come. Be part of the team! WE ARE PROUD TO BE A PART OF THE ARAB PATROL! Come and join us and show your enthusiasm for our great unit! WOW! We had a great and informative meeting on August 6th. Thanks to all of you that were in attendance. It was great to see our new members as well as some long time members that have not been with us for a while. Our Officers are committed to increasing participation and membership in our unit. We would like to invite all of our current Patrolmen and any other Noble who is interested to come and check out our enthusiasm! Guy s the Circus exchange ticket kickoff was on August 26 th. We need to make sure that all of the Patrolmen give their best effort to get out on the streets and sell circus tickets. You will each be receiving two books of tickets to sell or buy. Please do not sit on these tickets! Either sell them or buy them as Mom and Dad books. Remember, ticket sales are a crucial part of Hadi Temples yearly budget. Let s do our part to help out if we can. REMINDER: Would you like to be more involved with the Arab Patrol? One way to do it is to run for an Officers position. We are looking for individuals that want to make a difference. If this describes you, let us know that you are interested. We will make sure that your name is on the ballot come election time. Please keep all of the military families in your thoughts. As always the Arab Patrol sends wishes of good health to all of the Patrolmen and their families. Know that you are always in our thoughts and we hope to see you soon. Commit to be active in your unit! HAVING FUN & HELPING KIDS I AM PROUD TO BE A SHRINER MOTOR CORPS Hot Exhaust Dennis Isaac- Secretary Greetings Nobles! Well, another bust month has passed. I hope everyone is having a safe and fun summer. A BIG thank you goes out to Gene Roby for letting us use his river camp for our Motor Corps. picnic. We had a great turn out and everyone had fun. If you haven't noticed, our parades are a little bit longer these days because the mini cars are back on the street. Our purple Prowlers really look great. How did that red, white and blue car get in there? Some of you nobles still have not committed to any units, clubs or organizations, please get involved. The Motor Corps. meet on the 4th Friday of the month starting at 7:30 pm. We are definitely enjoying our cool meetings. The new A/C unit does a great job. HADI LEGION OF HONOR By Steve Garrett, Commander Hello everyone. The Legion of Honor is alive and well. Some of us old soldiers have had to slow down and take time to heal up a little in the past couple of months. But as always, we ve had comrades to help us through the rough times. Our convention plans are all coming together as we are going to press. A full report will be forth coming soon. Our membership has grown in the last year. We offer a hearty welcome to our new members: Jack Cummings, Mike Leslie, Michael Murray, and Frank Seib. The Legion of Honor extends an invitation to all nobles that have been in the armed Forces to contact one of our members about joining. We meet the fourth Monday night of every month. Bring your lady and come join us in the Red Fez Room for supper at 6:30 P.M. Our meetings start at 7:30 P.M. We hope you will come and join us on August 23 rd. In closing, we wish to remind all Legion of Honor members that our Annual Picnic will be held on Sunday, September 19 th at Ned and Rose Wellmeier s home. They ask that each family bring a covered dish or dessert. Make plans to spend the afternoon. Lunch will be served at 2:00 P.M. Hope to see you there. HADI HIGHLANDERS Bill Standring PP A Hot Summer's greeting from the swell guys at The Pipes and Drums O'Hadi...The Highlanders...where every Wednesday at seven...the FUN begins. After a wee dram, the lads settle down to the task of becoming more proficient on snare drums and The Great Highland Bagpipe. These weekly sessions are really paying off in increasing the caliber of the band. After practice, most Highlanders hang around for some food, fellowship, and a few lighter moments, proving that they are a bunch of swell guys, without a "sore-head" in the lot. If any Shriner would like to inspect this group with the intentions of joining, he would be most welcome any week. It's not too late to begin acquiring items for the Silent Auction at our seventh TARTAN BALL. November and the ball are fast approaching. HADI BOWLERS By Tom Land Greetings everyone.
